davefizzy14 Posted 2 September, 2023 Posted 2 September, 2023 Totally unacceptable 1st half of football that. Defensively all over the place. We are way too open in the midfield. Bazunu not having a good game. Should be saving that last one. Big changes needed for second half 3
Farmer Saint Posted 2 September, 2023 Posted 2 September, 2023 I'm going to give RM a pass on this one. We have had such massive upheaval, the team has had no chance to get used to playing with one another. I think people really under-estimate squad cohesion as something that is massively important - especially in the spine of the team. We need a settled few weeks to get it together, and tbh the next few weeks is probably a decent time as we're playing decent teams that we may have struggled to get results from anyway. The way you get promoted in this league is beating up on the shite. 2 2
Saint Scott Posted 2 September, 2023 Posted 2 September, 2023 (edited) Holgate is terrible with the ball at his feet and alongside Bednarek it is a disaster waiting to happen. Mara non existent, midfield all over the place, Arma has gone missing. Big half time for Martin Edited 2 September, 2023 by Saint Scott 2
The Kraken Posted 2 September, 2023 Posted 2 September, 2023 Fuck off with that half Saints. Just make 5 subs and be done with it. McCarthy for Bazunu. THB for Holgate. Charles for Smallbone. Adams for Mara. Fraser for Edozie. 9
Saint_clark Posted 2 September, 2023 Posted 2 September, 2023 Didn't realise THB was signed in time to play ffs, why is he on the bench??? One of the divisions best CBs last season.
FarehamSaintJames Posted 2 September, 2023 Posted 2 September, 2023 None out of ten window lads 😉 Ah well, come back fresh after the international break.
Wsaint Posted 2 September, 2023 Posted 2 September, 2023 Oh dear, in a bit of a pickle now aren't we.
danjosaint Posted 2 September, 2023 Posted 2 September, 2023 How long will RM be given, clearly a decent guy but fuck, tactically piss poor and fu**ing deluded 2 4 1
Saint NL Posted 2 September, 2023 Posted 2 September, 2023 Well, that was unexpected. Midfield is non existent, defence is a mess and less said about the keeper the better. Big changes needed at half time. KWP is the only one coming out of that looking half way decent. 2
saint michael Posted 2 September, 2023 Posted 2 September, 2023 Best keeper in league…if we didn’t have him I would want to sign him ….. 1
BotleySaint Posted 2 September, 2023 Posted 2 September, 2023 We are playing like a bunch of strangers. And almost every shot goes past Bazunu. He has to be dropped.
sandwichsaint Posted 2 September, 2023 Posted 2 September, 2023 We'll walk the Walking Football league.
Convict Colony Posted 2 September, 2023 Posted 2 September, 2023 Time and again we are conceding either long range goals or people attacking crosses in the space KWP leaves behind
James Posted 2 September, 2023 Posted 2 September, 2023 Expecting RM to make 3 subs at half time. Holgate and Mara off as a minimum. 1
Bad Wolf Posted 2 September, 2023 Posted 2 September, 2023 Holgate = Worst debut since Alan Bennett? 1
Lord Duckhunter Posted 2 September, 2023 Posted 2 September, 2023 4 minutes ago, James said: That was shit but Bazunu should have stopped it. Another basic error. Our centre halves are told to pass the ball out when it’s obvious they can’t do so, so that’s down to the manager. But the goal keeping, fucking hell. He really is fucking pony. 3
The Kraken Posted 2 September, 2023 Posted 2 September, 2023 Just now, trousers said: Kasper Schmeichel anyone...? #freeagent I’d take Peter Schmeichel right now tbf. 1 3
OttawaSaint Posted 2 September, 2023 Posted 2 September, 2023 Every goal this season had been a free header in box or backing off and letting them shoot at a keeper that couldn't save a Microsoft word document. I was pleased with our transfer dealings but like others am perplexed as to why we didn't get a decent keeper in. 1
Chris cooper Posted 2 September, 2023 Posted 2 September, 2023 To lose Abk late last night was gutting and I knew holgate wasn’t the answer. banging on about a new gk all summer looks like a new manager aswell hms out his depth ! 1
RedArmy Posted 2 September, 2023 Posted 2 September, 2023 Lots of work to be done during the international break. The balance of the team is terrible, did he think Sunderland were just going to let us camp on the edge of their box all game?
Saint_clark Posted 2 September, 2023 Posted 2 September, 2023 1 minute ago, trousers said: Kasper Schmeichel anyone...? #freeagent 100%. Get him in asap.
gammon cheeks Posted 2 September, 2023 Posted 2 September, 2023 Use all 5 subs ffs ! Bazunu going to be the best goalie in the league ! Really 🤣
Dangerspoon Posted 2 September, 2023 Posted 2 September, 2023 Holgate was regularly criticised at Everton. It was a very bizarre signing imo. Put the Man City lad with Bednarek and I think we’ll be stronger. Bazunu needs time off. He looks lacking in confidence. Schmichael surely should be considered. Mara needs to ask himself if he wants to be a footballer, as I haven’t seen any effort from apart from his debut game. 1

Paul.Studio Posted 2 September, 2023 Posted 2 September, 2023 Would make three changes - Stuey, Mara & Edozie off - Fraser, Che and Charles on! Can't waste a sub on the goalkeeper unfortunately! 1

suewhistle Posted 2 September, 2023 Posted 2 September, 2023 I'm going to waste one of my three posts... **** me! Subs at half time I'd imagine. Hopefully Holgate.. 1 1
CityRanger Posted 2 September, 2023 Posted 2 September, 2023 Easily one of the worst keepers I’ve seen in a Saints shirt in 50 years of watching. Since when did we “develop” a goalkeeper in the first team? That’s for other clubs to do ffs. 1
Delmary Posted 2 September, 2023 Posted 2 September, 2023 RM totally cocked up today. 3 subs required a halftime, Mara, Holgate and Smallbone or Edozie. On Charles or HB, Che and Frazer. 1
Micky Posted 2 September, 2023 Posted 2 September, 2023 I am really struggling to understand this policy of possession, when clearly it means the square root of fuck all. They've had the football for all of five minutes and absolutely murdered us, while we've cocked around on the half way line looking like Billy Big bollocks, but offering nothing. Add to that, the manager won't change when it's obviously all going Pete Tong. Crap 45. 1

You're hitting expectations, SaintsWeb xxx Seriously though, after all this week's excitement and the unprecedented positivity seen from some normally right moaning minnies on these boards yesterday, a feeble capitulation was gloriously inevitable today. Honestly, I'm amused. It's been an unusual week, I think the lads largely get a pass. Tho Baz is pushing it, from what I read (I've not followed the game thus far). 2
Saint_clark Posted 2 September, 2023 Posted 2 September, 2023 Fuck off Earnshaw that shot is going SO far wide. 1
gammon cheeks Posted 2 September, 2023 Posted 2 September, 2023 Martins teams just can not defend ! 1
OttawaSaint Posted 2 September, 2023 Posted 2 September, 2023 Read Janny B's lips after the 3rd goal and he said, "wow, that guy is worse than me!". 1
adrian lord Posted 2 September, 2023 Posted 2 September, 2023 You can see why Everton don’t want Holgate
sydney_saint Posted 2 September, 2023 Posted 2 September, 2023 Oooof Earnshaw is about as good at punditry as Baz is at saving shots
LGTL Posted 2 September, 2023 Posted 2 September, 2023 Fuming with the starting line up, a shocker from Martin 2
The Juice Posted 2 September, 2023 Posted 2 September, 2023 Watching the goals: 1st: Mara stands still with runner off him for free header 2nd: Manning too easily beaten in the air, Downes doesnt respond to the shot early enough 3rd: Holgate and Bazunu... just shocking 1
whelk Posted 2 September, 2023 Posted 2 September, 2023 Debating whether to kill myself at half time 4

From the freekick, he has to push it wide... the 3rd he has to save and he just has not command his box. I question if he takes that cross on the 6 yard box for the 1st goal. I dont think that makes those who call him out pricks while I accept many in front of him have been poor too. 4

Saint_clark Posted 2 September, 2023 Posted 2 September, 2023 Can you imagine a Martin team in the Prem with how defensively fragile they are? You'd end up breaking the record for goals conceded and probably lowest points tally. 1
