I thought he was pretty poor in his general play when he came on, seemed a bit rushed, but he pops up in the right positions! Good sub to have.

He's only started 3 games and come on in the rest so his 2 goal haul is impressive.

Met him today, I slated the transfer back in August, but he’s been a great signing, seems to be a top bloke and really wants to be here, seems to have learned from his mistakes and probably knows this is an amazing opportunity for him to rekindle his career.

Martin (and others) have created such an amazing togetherness within the squad so quickly, it’s great to see.

This needs to catch on, great tune, original, and works. 👌👌👌

Seems a no brainer to sign Fraser permantley, surely? Seems to be a great character, settled in really well and we both seem a great fit.

Yep, agree. Some players & clubs just seem to feel "right" for each other and Fraser/Saints fit that perception.

Been a great signing, i’m trusting the club won’t get caught up in the excitement of his recent contributions and will wait to see what league we’re in before deciding whether he is worth signing permanently or not. Never been any doubt he’s a good Championship player, does he still cut it in the Prem if we go up? Not sure.

100% let's not do a Selles again.

Despite having a reputation of being a bit of a helmet he seems like a really good lad in his interviews. Seems to like being here as well.

I think the reputation was largely caused by his fall out with AFCB and refusal to play after his contract expired in June 2020. Think we'd have been pissed off if a player had refused to play for us when facing relegation at a crucial stage of the season.

On a not dissimilar theme, will he be our player if we end up in the play offs ? Obviiously depends on what was agreed with Newcastle, but seem to recall a player whose deal hadn't extended to the play offs a few years ago.

I worry the press around this is very negative and the player may think we dont want him and look elsewhere. to excuse the reason as a money issue is ludicrous based on his value verses our 150m funding pot. all the other clubs dont seem to worry about FFP lets do a mancity or chelsea for a change and get the deal done

Sorry to go all MLG on you, but its quite obvious that the club will be talking to Fraser and his represenatives and he's not getting his information from the press.

You're right about the FFP thing though - Same old saints - Always have an excuse to not put their hands in their pockets.

Great comments from him ..what a absolute class act this guy is both on and off the pitch and to think some  thought he had bad attitude..

might not be as rapid or tricky as sulemana and edozie but end product has been top notch . Already becoming one of my fav players

If we don't get promoted this season, Ryan MUST be the first signing we make.

we should be signing him whatever division we are in. A good experienced player who will be important in the premier league as well.

Indeed, decent at both levels, But even more so at championship level.

The need won't surely be as URGENT at premier league level.

A chat with Ryan Fraser:

loved that. After so many years of players being here for themselves,  wanting to leave within a year or two of arriving it's it refreshing to hear a player talk so passionately about putting the club first and wanting to stay for as long as they can and it seems like he genuinely means it too.

Made me feel all emotional. Lovely fella. Great attitude. Proud he’s at Southampton.

If he carries on playing scoring and assisting until end of season , ( helped by if Che & Stu stay til the end, ) I can see the Scotland Manager not having to do much thinking to realise Ryans experience, goals and assists make his inclusion in the euro squad an easy decision.

Yep and I bet he is one of those players that is good around the dressing room - puts a smile on your face kind of guy.

yep. Anyone know what happened between him and Eddie Howe? Seems like they were quite close but their relationship now is beyond repair by the sounds of it. Was it to do with what happened at the end with Bournemouth?

Would be nice to know. Perhaps mr Howe isn’t as nice as he portrays

Yes I think I read that Fraser downing tools after covid led to a blazing row because Howe viewed it as going on strike and giving up on the team. Think he questioned his attitude.

Seems that way. He comes across very well in that interview. What really happened at Bournemouth we'll probably never know, but in fairness to the lad, he was very respectful the way he spoke about Howe.

I think it was because, at the end of the Covid-delayed season, he refused a month's extension to his contract which would have enabled hims to play Bournemouth's last few games and maybe escape relegation.

He signed for Newcastle and sod's law saw Howe become manager there, so they were probably not the best of friends.
