Looks like India have just safely landed a lander and rover on the South Pole of the moon.

I flipping love stuff like this. Will be very interesting to see developments over the next weeks and months, the idea is to try and find out how much water ice is there and how it can be reclaimed for drinking water / rocket propellant.

Quick, lets send them some more Foreign Aid

However, this is really cool to be fair, and hope it is a success. Only a small proportion of Moon Missions are a success, let alone an either smaller percentage that make a soft landing

Edit - it has landed on the south side of the Moon. Beating China, Russia and the USA to it

Just seems bonkers to me, spunking all that money on something like this when so many in their country are living in poverty. Are we still sending them money from our international aid budget?

They want to take over from China as the worlds technology and manufacturing hub, but are currently seen as a bit backward and poverty stricken. Things like a space program changes perceptions and build confidence. But yep, it sucks if you're hungry and sick
