Cracking result today but now is the time to stand firm and say no more first team outgoings. We've made about 150 million from sales, we need to keep the rest to push for promotion. We have a good group of players now and any further losses from the first team will weaken us considerably. Surely we don't need to sell for financial reasons? What is preventing us from saying no?

it will be ridiculous to let Adams and Tella leave.  Absolutely ridiculous and would probably all but end hopes of promotion, IMO

KWP as well. Just tell them they can go next year if we fail to go up. What's the worst that could happen?

yes, him as well...I said earlier, Adams is our Mitrovic this season...he will score 25+ goals

Yes taking the gamble and letting him go on a free may cost us some lonely, but we've made multiple millions on Lavia, Tino, jwp and more money than we expected for sure. At some point you have to swallow the cost and speculate to accumulate if you want promotion. It can't be all about money.

It depends whether RM would prefer these players or to replace some of them. If he would prefer some other players, the we need to sell to give him what he wants.

There will obviously be more sales and unfortunately due to the contract situation one of them will probably be Adams but we do need to keep the likes of Tella and KWP. I think keeping Perraud is important for left back too as Manning, though talented, has started iffily this season. We also need to offload a bit more chaff like Aribo, Onuachu and maybe Mara. I think it's likely we'll sell ABK and Sulemana but their injuries may see them stay past September, in which both could be assets for us until January.

What we do need now if for some incomings. Downes is a start but we also need another CM,  CB and a striker, all first choice if possible. I wouldn't say no to a top winger if one became available and have Edozie as an impact sub.

Why are more sales an inevitability?

Not referring to what he might say publicly, just that he needs a squad he knows has the quality he can work with. Whether that’s existing or new players, it matters little to me at this point.

If it’s true Adams and Tella aren’t pushing for a move and are happy to stay unless we want them to go then selling them is madness. They could get 40-50 goals this season between them.

To be fair to KWP, at the end of last season he was playing like he didn't care (perhaps been around Dele Ali too much), but this season he's got his mojo back. Actually don't think Che would sulk either. Out of the three, Tella needs to take his head out of his arse because he's got that prima donna air about him which he hasn't yet earned.

Guess it all depends on who we bring in to replace them.

Agree with you totally .. but sensing from the club anyone is up for grabs if our valuations are met .

with our current squad I think we would walk promotion, which really should be top priority over keeping players happy or fetching fair prices

No, but he may want the sales that you don't want. Dig Dig makes the valid point that the important thing is to give RM the squad that he wants. I'd like to think that includes Tella, KWP, Adams and AA, but who knows.

I’m intrigued to know who the players are that RM said we’re adamant they wanted to go and have now changed their minds/happy to stay.

Was mentioned in his presser yesterday.

I'm more intrigued to know who the players are who have been holding on waiting for us to sign them. It isn't Piroe or grimes so not sure who it could be unless it's just pr spin.

It’s all down to price. And time too, I guess. If we lose Tella and Adams on deadline day without incomings, we have a huge problem. But obviously every player has a price. I agree though that if we can just unload players who haven’t really featured yet (Tall Paul, Aribo, Bree) then keeping those who’ve done well is the right call.

Adams at CF with AA on the left looks pretty tasty.

I thought Armstrong (adam) looked fantastic as the 8.

Far far more effective there, I wonder over the season whether he'll grow more into that role.

Why isn’t it ? Seems quite possible that they’ve just said bollocks, not waiting indefinitely.

Although I did read an article about Grimes on a Swansea site in the summer saying that he had put down family roots in Swansea and might not want to uproot them.

I think there is too much interest in our players still, maybe 'obviously' was the wrong word but we still have a lot of players we need to shed somehow, even if we knock back the attempts to sign our better players. ABK, Sulemana, Adams, Tella all still linked with teams, not to mention the link for Aribo today. Even with two weeks to go I think we'll see at least a couple more out yet, if not jewels then fringe players and youngsters.

Personally I'd love it if we kept the squad as it is and didn't sell anyone else (especially the jewels) as I think the squad as it is (with Downes and maybe one or two smart additions) would be enough to get promoted this season but I look at the squad list and I still see too many players that need to be shipped out still. We still have Lyanco, Aribo, McCarthy, Djenepo, Larios, Onuachu and Mara unlikely to feature a lot so the squad is still bloated and they're probably on fairly big money for this league even if they did get wage cuts.

The little cameos I've seen of Aribo I think he makes a good squad player at this level.

Aribo tends to keep the ball well. Did vs Wednesday and again today. Kinda the opposite to what Mara did when he came on..

I’d far rather keep Aribo than Mara. Tella and other have referred to Joe’s influence in the dressing room. ABK can go for the right fee, Lyanco and McCarthy for 0 to free up further wages. Perraud will probably leave but Manning yet to convince. Onachu will be the club taking a bath on the fee. A Champ club might want Bree on loan.

Beyond that, without replacements of a similar cost fee-wise (wages are a different story), it’s starting to look suspicious.

I know for a fact the french speaking quartet wanted out, and I was led to believe Diallo/Perraud where pretty vocal.. so perhaps Perraud and Mara have mellowed ?

Sulemana ? Who knows, I personally think he is off

Outside of that Id hazard a guess Tella ? Ive been told he’s pretty relaxed, not pushing either way.. that was pre German interest though

As per the OP.. I agree, I think we’re at a point now where unless they down tools, or we get genuinely silly offers, then it isn’t worth upsetting the balance of the squad.. in Ches case its daft as we’ve seen the striker market this year is barren.. so replacing him would be very hard

Absolutely. Unless Adams makes it very clear he is going to down tools and go on strike (something I don't think he will do), we should be telling him he will be staying for a season. With Piroe gone, I don't think any proven championship strikers remain. He needs to stay.

We don't need to tell Che or kwp that, they know they can go next year.... they will be out of contract 😂😅

Suspect Adams may stay for a promotion push. RM seems to think he's happy and settled and its interesting (perhaps telling) that the move that was previously countenanced by the club was Bournemouth? (family reasons?) Suspect if we get promoted and he's got a key role that he may be happy to stay rather than uprooting doe the sake of it?

KWP I think is going, with clubs like arsenal interested and plenty of seemingly available similar level replacements...

Tella we'd be mad to sell. And similarly I would like to see sulemana stay. We should absolutley destroy teams at this level with the likes of tella, sulemana, Armstrong, Adams, alcaraz...

Still plenty of fluff to shift regardless, all of the following could be moved on and easily replaced (if not improved on).

Lyanco

Bednarek

Stephens

Aribo

Onuachu

Djenpo

Macca

Depends what they negotiate when they sign on. A couple of years ago, Shane Long was our highest paid player at £2.9m. If you look at our current top five earners, you might be surprised. I guessed two.

I think he’ll do alright at this level to be fair, worth keeping
