So who is taking the penalties free kicks and corners now?

Smallbone for right footed and inswinging corners. Alcaraz probably penalties and right footed direct, Manning left footed and direct plus inswinging corners . That would give us much more unpredictability.

I think anyone could take the corners, I recall Redmond taking a few and we scored from at least 1. Dont believe the hype of JWPs corner taking, the velocity of the ball made it very hard for a player to time the run to get on the end of it. There wont be a direct free kick taker to match him again for decades. As for penalties, I dont think JWP was the most confident doing it

Dare I criticise the Golden One but his corners were often poor and his penalties were very much 50/50, you never had the Le Tiss or Lambert (even Peach for those of us old enough) confidence that they were hitting the back of the net.

I recall a period in the early 70's when we were awful taking pens. I think we ended up having Jimmy Gabriel taking them

It looked like Nathan Tella wanted the first pen yesterday but two out of two ain’t bad so as long as AA is on the pitch I guess that’s settled.
Will took right footed Inswinging corners from the left wing mixed with short corners (about 1 in 3/4 were played short to Ed).

It was always Armstrong it’s the trick when defenders try to put off taker with verbals and then hands ball to real taker.

Not forgetting Jason Dodds who had a very tidy record from the spot.
