Who cares

hes played a few games and was crap in some and decent sporadically in others.

In ten years time no one will remember him

he’s like  a 2023 tadanari lee

Who literally every Saints fan remembers...

9 goals in 22 for Albirex Niigata FC in Singapore last season. He might be 37 now but can clearly score goals and we love a link with an ex player. Plus he has the experience many fans crave and knows the Championship.

The more I think about it the more this makes sense.

In the grand scheme of things lee made no material difference to the club and it’s fortunes.

players come and go and some are great for the club such as lambert and others sparkle momentarily and score some decent goals but like lee but it doesn’t really make any difference.

I couldn’t really care if sulemana stays or goes.

It’s a distraction and I’d rather we signed a decent keeper and someone who can score 15 goals a plus a season. At the moment we look the same incoherent club we have for the past few seasons.

Wouldn’t be easy to get him from albirex. Need to get lavia out of the squad first and secure some funds

I hope that Sulemana stays, he has electric pace and is direct which could be a great asset in the Championship !

Tbf, I don't know about his attitude but if Martin is a good man manager he should be able to get the best out of him...

Let's see....

Agree but they were after Sulemana in January and we beat them to it so I expect they still hold that interest in him. Everton are skint though, they're selling Gray to fund Chermiti - they've made a fair bit of money this summer though and have got some big earners off the wage bill so we should absolutely not be doing them any favours. Although I can see this happening.

I have a horrible feeling Dyche’s going to turn them into next season’s surprise package.

I dunno, he did set up the goat at Leeds which edged us closer to promotion. Aside from that though yeah you’re right,  never thought of his transfer as anything but a commercial decision to gain some exposure in the far east

The only way Dyche is going to surprise anyone next season is if he wins Miss Teen America. As for his team, they’ll probably be sour and wedged in the bottom half until he is sacked in November.

This is the correct comparison for Sulemana. He may not get there, but he legitimately has the potential to. I'm not sure a dominant, possession-based team is the right fit for him (he could better use his pace in a more open, counter-attacking team) but there's potentially a very, VERY good player in there.

This is brilliant. A team who nearly got relegated and struggled to score goals, signs two players who struggled to score goals, from a team who got relegated as they struggled to score goals.

Dont forget they are in breach of ffp, we should not be dealing with them over our players, but dealing with this:

Everton face legal action from Leicester, Leeds, Southampton and Burnley that could run into tens of millions of pounds if they lose their case for an alleged breach of the Premier League’s financial fair play rules, which the Guardian understands will be heard on 25 October.

It was satirical to make a point. You shouldn’t take everything so seriously.

But I do. your comment might be many things but satirical isn’t one of them.  your criticism is that my comment was absurd. you need to appreciate nuance.

  • 4 weeks later...

I just watched this 4 min pre-Sunderland training vid

At the end the players are attacking/defending the goal. Sully's acceleration from a standing start is going to absolutely murder Championship defenders. The nutmeg goal on Bree is beautifully placed (remember Bree was/is a stand out Championship full back)

The only player to get near him was KWP and even then you could see how tough it was (And KWP will be probably the best full back in the Championship you would think)

Really hope we have him onside and he brings his 'A' game - has potential to light up the PL as well after a season of regular starts with us.

A positive way to look at it is we actively didn't block anyone from moving this window if our valuation was met (Ok bar Che on the last day but we did give him a lot of chances to move previously) - each player had a price and it was up to other teams to meet that price. We didn't block Sulemana from leaving, it's not like we said "you're not going anywhere" in an effort to keep him, it's simply that there obviously wasn't enough interest in him at what we valued him at. Hopefully he plays and plays well and he can go in January with good feelings.

One would think that players wanting out would just make them want to play better and get noticed.
