Am guessing he wasn't going to sign a new deal. Better to get something for him then letting his contract run down. Hoping we"ve put a decent sized sell on clause if he does realise his potential.

Strasbourg are Chelsea's Valenciennes, so if he does realise his potential he probably ends up at Chelsea for a nominal fee.

Need to keep the right wing slot free for Arma/BBD/Fraser.

Plus Stewart.

Good riddance.

And then he won’t play for them either … but the £ will more than make up for that

SAA now playing and scoring against Lyon... But ofc, not good enough for saints this season or next season, and absolutely not worth keeping hold off for just a little bit longer as his value increased..

Correct, he was not good enough for this season, probably wont be next season and wasn't worth keeping hold of. For the most part he has been an unused sub for Strasbourg, since we sold him.

Did we sell him? Thought it was a loan.

Obligatory purchase at the end of it.

That, and SAA hanging onto their training room door screaming "Don't send me back! Please, not there!"

One thing that has really annoyed me (mainly because of Martin) was that SAA was behind some absolute dross in the pecking order. He should've been given more opportunities. The permanent signing of Fraser for example was a joke. Just like selling Alcaraz because he didn't suit the style of play.

Wow. That's disappointing. Of course after Meglomana (no idea of the spelling!), and Alcarez moved on.

Talented players all. Shame.

He's been there barely 2 months, had to settle in to a new country,  culture, and style of football, and I believe he had a bit of injury trouble as well... But when he's scoring against Lyon at his age i'd say your view is pretty poor / out of whack on this one. It's really poor business by the club. Doubly so as there is absolutely no mention of a sell on clause! Also, why should we condemn and 17/18 year old as not good enough because they can't step up to the prem at their age and In this dross team?

Also, our new sporting director has basically come out and criticised letting both SAA and meghoma go... But hey ho, maybe we should have hired Lighthouse as the new director of football, what does spors know after all? 😅😂

Neither Martin, nor Juric, nor apparently Strasbourg's manager seems to have shown much interest in him and he looked a long way off being a decent Championship player last season. Will he be a decent player one day? Sure, maybe, who knows but there's no reason at all to think he'd have brought anything to our squad this season or that his value would have gone up just from keeping him around. If anything, with very little game time, he'd have probably left on a free when his contract expired.

Rather like Tella, I've no idea why people get so upset about a player who did nothing here leaving for a decent fee.

I miss the meltdowns on here about how could we possibly let Jankewitz go he's a world class megastar in the making etc etc etc etc

If we had played him regularly this season his value could have been big like diblings .. I mean dibling has a 100 m tag on him now just for beating players and nice dribbling, Sam just as capable of doing the same always looked great on the chances he did get ..

wonder who made this decision to let him go ?

I haven't got the faintest clue where you're getting that impression from, or how he ended up at Strasbourg when any other PL club could have picked him up for £10m, played him a bit and stuck a £100m price tag on him in summer.

Not really sure what you mean .. when a kid breaks into the first team and shows potential the hype machine starts just as we have seen with dibling ….dibling hasn’t really contributed assists and only couple of goals .. Sam amo was basically In the  same bracket as dibling a young kid who can beat players with pace and dribbling hes looked great when he did get on the pitch.. you just seem to be taking the fact he didn’t get the chances dibling did as proof that’s he’s not good enough . He certainly looks better then tella and Nathan dyer did at similar age

You say that like it'll just happen, as if a player who looked poor against QPR at the bottom of the Championship will do anything at all against PL defences. Jamie White was a promising teenager, thrown into a Championship team, struggled and ended up playing for Totton.

One of MLG's youngsters to watch in our FM2009 squad, as mentioned a day or so back.

When our academy was an absolute mess and I was picking the best of a bad bunch of academy players in a preview... 17 years ago! Plus in any case, he was not rated highly on the game.

Good news that, in response to Lighthouse mentioning "Jamie White was a promising teenager, thrown into a Championship team, struggled and ended up playing for Totton," you agree that my comment of "one of MLG's youngsters to watch in our FM2009 squad, as mentioned a day or so back," was completely accurate.

Also good news for the protection of our nation, that your Defensiveness Shield is only a single button click away. 🙂

Well it certainly would have been better for his value then not playing .. you can’t know that for sure ., I remember at the start of the season russ said something about Tyler being more developed physically which I guess was the reason Sam didn’t get the games
