kristian Posted 29 July, 2023 Share Posted 29 July, 2023 Beginning a thread for SAA (which isn't transfer related from last summer) given he'll likely break through this season, and has been probably our best player in pre-season. What a brilliant talent he's looking, and for less than £1m. Got 8 goals and 5 assists last season in u21 football so end product might not yet be there, but struggle to see how any of our other wingers can keep him out.
Osvaldorama Posted 29 July, 2023 Share Posted 29 July, 2023 Unreal talent. Best youngster since Bale imo. Can see he has 'it' already
Sussex_saint Posted 29 July, 2023 Share Posted 29 July, 2023 He's a better Edozie. That clever pass he made to smallbone is something that you expect from an experienced player, not some 17 year old. Think what he could do this season if Martin plays him right!
JRM Posted 29 July, 2023 Share Posted 29 July, 2023 I saw him in a few B team games last season, definitely a talent but a lot to learn still. Often guilty of not releasing the ball quickly enough, also knocked off the ball by more physical players but he'll get smarter in time. Doesn't offer much defensively in winning the ball back so need to allow for that in team selection.
mitch01 Posted 29 July, 2023 Share Posted 29 July, 2023 The glide past the defender in our first friendly this summer was very nice indeed. Bodes well.
Charlie Wayman Posted 29 July, 2023 Share Posted 29 July, 2023 Bit of a dilemma for the Club, do they keep him in the first team squad mostly on the bench or give him another year in the B Team to sharpen his skills with regular football. I'd go for the latter personally, he has a lot to learn yet.

He looks quality and that was a superb pass he played yesterday to set up Smallbone. We are sorely lacking in creativity so maybe he can help.
The Cat Posted 30 July, 2023 Share Posted 30 July, 2023 Surprised no one has come out with the "enjoy him while you can" statement yet because it seems to be a requirement on here for any player who looks a good prospect.
skintsaint Posted 30 July, 2023 Share Posted 30 July, 2023 Enjoy him while you can as he will only be here for a season or two. 1
ecurnew02 Posted 19 August, 2023 Share Posted 19 August, 2023 I know it’s only been substitution cameos but what a player he looks like he’s going to be!
CB Fry Posted 19 August, 2023 Share Posted 19 August, 2023 Looks very handy indeed. Just need to introduce him bit by bit, today was perfect.
S-Clarke Posted 19 August, 2023 Share Posted 19 August, 2023 He's a perfect player to bring off the bench, looks a very talented guy. Quick feet, good pace, full of tricks - seems to already have more of an end product than Edozie.
Patches O Houlihan Posted 19 August, 2023 Share Posted 19 August, 2023 (edited) He played the whole game at Gillingham, and I was amazed that he was still able to maintain that pace and intensity right into injury time. He seems to have great energy and attitude as well as an overflowing bag full of tricks and pace to spare. Contrast his sub performance today with Mara, and consider that Sam is still only 17. Love watching him 😁 Edited 19 August, 2023 by Patches O Houlihan
Saint Fan CaM Posted 19 August, 2023 Share Posted 19 August, 2023 Should be starting ahead of Edozie as he’s a better player in that role, both in terms of attack and tracking back.
saintant Posted 19 August, 2023 Share Posted 19 August, 2023 This boy is going to develop into some player. Such confidence and he's a real box of tricks. I'd have no worries about starting him but probably better coming off the bench at the moment. He won't be with us for the long haul but I'm sure, when he moves on to bigger things, we'll get a massive transfer fee for him. Love watching him.

sambosa75 Posted 19 August, 2023 Share Posted 19 August, 2023 Done more than Edozie in the limited Championship minutes he’s had so far.
sfc4prem Posted 19 August, 2023 Share Posted 19 August, 2023 17 years old. Wow. He's going to be a star. Feel like his time is being managed well, too. In praising him, I don't feel the need to condemn Edozie in the same breath. Edozie had a few good moments today, too.

Frightening prospect.

With regards to Edozie he is much more of a frightening winger than Tella is, If he gains the same finishing confidence Tella got at Burnley we will be raving about him until he gets sold for 50+ Million.
Baird of the land Posted 20 August, 2023 Share Posted 20 August, 2023 Definitely a bright prospect. Still very raw though and needs development. Ideally i'd like to see him and edozie competing for roles off the bench with Tella and Sulemana's replacement the starters.
Wiggles31
Thought he was brilliant tonight. Reminds me of a younger Saka. Looks very settled playing Russ ball. Deserves his own thread. What we nicknaming him?
sfc4prem
Superb. Link up play was excellent. Always in space and kept the ball well, but even more pleasing was his cutting edge in the final third. In the right place at the right time and he just makes things happen.

washsaint
ALready miles better than Edozie who really looks clueless once he's done his step overs. For me, him and Dibling start on Saturday. No fear from them, direct and some of Dibling's mazy runs were a thing of beauty.
Holmes_and_Watson
Excellent game for him. I was hoping to see a lot more of him last season. I felt as Cardiff changed it round that he faded a bit second half. Edozie's all round game is more developed. I think we'll see a fair bit of him this season. SAA's output is a strong point though. S-Clarke
Put Edozie to shame for me. Does things when he gets the ball, makes things happen. Edozie just kills the game when he gets it. Really big fan of SAA - good pickup by Joe Shields in his short time here.

I think SAA has a far more developed game than Edozie. He's better at beating his man, finishes better and has far more of an end product. Edozie struggled tonight against a Cardiff reserve full back who he should have had on toast.
