Baz and Manning playing for Ireland tonight. Only following on the Beeb website but sounds like Baz is having a decent game so far.

My Irish friend texted me this - Bazunu 10/10 performance. Manning was complete shit and wondered how he played for 90 mins...

Sounds familiar

Lol. That is never, ever a penalty.

But the Maguire one should have been, so it's evened out I guess.

Did he get booked as well? Awful decision

This is such a good snapshot of why Southgate has well run his course.

Maguire, Henderson, Phillips have absolutely no business in the squad,

Playing a RB in CM, playing Rashford and maybe Grealish,  is just ridiculous

Another mismatched side, gets a mixed result. No surprise.

Guehi and Lewis weak links in defence. And that's in a side with Maguire  Lewis talented, but not experienced enough to help in key moments/ positions yet. Maguire did some things well, but slows the game down even as he goes forward with it.

Southgate more concerned at bad press leaving TAA out than having an effective midfield. Phillips and Henderson's game time makes them laughable replacements.

With Sakho, Grealish and Foden, it was a forward line all trying to do the same sort of thing, with no real penetration. 2 of the 3 a better fit. Not starting Kane didn't help in the end. for all the talent, England were reduced to thumping it up to him. The final passes were well below standard. Rashford wasn't on for long, but managed to stand out by not doing anything well.

England were already through. Southgate no doubt wanted to take the opportunity to change things around against wekaer opposition. But both games have shown, just how ineffective his team can be, when not playing with strength throughout, and a bit of purpose.

Yep, sterile football, and nothing team selections. TAA in midfield is ridiculous. I'm not JWP's biggest fan, but he should be in that squad and playing ahead of TAA. Maguire, Henderson and Phillips have no right being there at all.

Obviously, the England game was a dead rubber with some comedy decisions by the ref, but did anyone else think there was no width, speed and overlap?

There was hardly any "getting in behind", almost looked like wingless wonders again.

Not too fussed about another mediocre performance, just seemed the obvious way to beat N Mac was a KWP-style player down the right and a Sulemana down the left.

Apparently Shea Charles was immense for Northern Ireland tonight as they beat Denmark. Good week for our International boys.

LoL at Southgate

Being questioned in a post match interview about the performance last night, he said playing North Macedonia, there is no evidence to suggest we can just put 4 or 5 past them.

the person asking the questions just replied - eer, yes there is, we beat them 7-0 not long ago

Still believe he is now taking us backwards with his refusal to refresh the squad in certain areas

When Mrs JBS, who as mentioned before, will seek out footie on the TV over some inane more girl stuff, turned over to see how Nigel Farrage got on eating bugs, penis and arse, pretty much sums up the game..........................................backed up by Pudsey getting more screen time on Friday than I'd expect from her.

It goes much deeper that that. Without Bellingham & Kane we are clueless and if either of these guys is injured next summer we can kiss goodbye to any hope of winning the trophy.

We need to tread carefully with this guy, I know its only NI but if he isn't getting regular first team football at Saints he'll want out sooner or later especially if his performances begin to attract attention.

If I may venture a comment dear sir, that is utter Rollocks. He was immense last night fr a kid of 18 years.

We managed to trawl the Man City academy for four future stars so how come we missed out on Lewis at LB. Just the guy we need right now.

Time to persuade the lad that he has no future at Man City.

What's the LOL for? Saints International players have had a good week largely. Charles performed well for NI last night, Stu scored a cracker for Scotland and Bazunu was effectively MOTM against The Netherlands and that's just 3. Bednarek and Aribo also started for Poland and Nigeria. Bednarek nearly took Soucek's head off!

Agree - but he's still young. Personally I like what I've seen from him this season and I think he has a bright future. Up to Martin to manage him well.

Yeah, fair play....I assumed you were referring to the NI goal scorer....

They didn't want him to leave. Ditto Bobb, Borges, and Palmer (though the latter two have since ended up at Ajax and Chelsea respectively, with Palmer in particular having pushed to move for (more) first team football).

Rotherham did to Leeds exactly what they did to us. Must practice it.

Doesn’t always work though, lost 5-0 at Watford last time out.

Thought Rotherham had the better second half. They looked ok. The lad nombe looks decent

Can't see Leicester dropping points tomorrow but a good chance to make up ground on Ipswich with them playing away to WBA.

Even if we don't, good chance to stretch away from some of the teams below us. Must win tomorrow.

That game demonstrates why you cannot take any game for granted at this level, it's a slog of a league and these sorts of sides never make it easy. Huddersfield will be a very, very tough away day.

Yep, Huddersfield are going to do exactly what Rotherham and Millwall did. Sit deep and defend for their lives.

Trouble is EIEIEIO has been mentioned in the thread so we’re bound to fuck up tomorrow. Not sure people will be able to cope. It’ll be Martin out time come five o’clock.

Man City v Liverpool. 98 minutes of Peter Drury the commentator vomiting inane fucking facts at every opportunity. Give it a rest. Just commentate on the game. I guess we should just be grateful Carragher didn't cover the game.

I see that Reading and Tranmere won.  But Ballard was injured early in the first half for Reading and went off.  I hope it is not a serious injury.

Just seen the DB thread; suspected ACL … ouch.  Hope he fully recovers from it.

Someone said on here it looks serious, possible ACL.

West Brom second goal. Doubt we'll every score a goal like that under Martin.

Can't disagree. I reckon West Brom might go on to claim the second automatic spot assuming Leicester don't cock things up.
