To be fair, Baz has gone up in my estimations. Having watched the Swansea lad today, I may have been a bit harsh on Baz. He might not be the worst goalkeeper in the championship next season. Instead, he’ll be the second worst…

The Swansea lad was their reserve keeper. Vigouroux has been their first choice.

If you like. Come August it'll most likely be Bazunu in goal and McCarthy on the bench, which clearly upsets a lot of people but I'm absolutely fine with. Just for reference regarding his 'never saves any shots' problem; If you took 20 shots at every keeper in the Championship last season, on average they'd save 14 whilst Bazunu would save 13. That's it, that's the difference.

A damning indictment of just how bad he is. A stat like that could cost the club automatic promotion.

Not to mention he will likely be even worse after such a bad injury. Loan to league one or sell altogether are the only sensible choices

Should have him play in midfield. He’s clearly not a goalkeeper and I don’t think it’s too late to change his position.

I believe he used to be a winger until he was in his late teens and then had a go in goal and the rest is history.

he’d probably do a better job than edozie and he might be the better keeper.

what a squad we have assembled

Must have been an awful winger 🙂

Normally I'd agree, but we want the three strongest teams promoted this season to reduce competition against us next season.

Expand

True, but if they don't go up this year they're down to their last year of parachute money, which in year three is only 20% of the overall amount allocated. So they'll have less money to spend, which you'd think would mean they would lose some more quality and make them weaker than this year.

Plus my brother in law is a Leeds fan, so from a personal perspective I would just enjoy it immensely.

A bit hasty , typical Saints not giving a bloke a chance to show himself at his best 😄

Loaning him out will get him some games in before the end of the season before he becomes our regular No 1 next season. 🙄

Juric confirmed in the press conference yesterday they are looking to loan Bazunu out.

Excellent news that he is fit and ready to play games. He can do nothing for us when injured, be that play for us, play games out on loan (so we dont have to pay his wages) and/or be available for a transfer so we can improve our finances.

What we need now is a manager who typically wants to to try and get 30 passes in before the ball has left the 18 yard box to have an injured crisis at the keeper position.

They’ve seemingly shaking him around for loan all month - plenty of injured keepers too but the silence is deafening unless the club wants a hefty loan fee and wages paid. Turns out the market for a keeper who struggles with low shots, central shots with power, catching and coming off his line but is potentially a good kicker (so claimed but seen little evidence) is very limited.

Brighton have just recalled Rushworth from Hull. Wouldn't be surprised if he ended up there.. But than again, Selles will know how awful he is as a keeper.

Martin could save us some pennies, by taking on another role. Baz, Will and Jack would be good additions for him at whatever club he ends up at. Manning too.

maybe when you are extremely close up to something it's ugliness is less easy to see?

Money will be the main factor. No championship club would turn down the oppotunity to have him totally for free for example. A loan fee seems to be par for the course, but if we haven't already, maybe we ought to waive that. His wages may be too big for a lot of championship sides to take on in full too. There is little point in us loaning him out if his wages are not beign paid only for him to sit on the bench.

Surely small, not picky elements of a keepers game, and nothing that should hold up a move. 🙂

I'm pleased he's recovered so quickly. A loan move would be ideal to get sharp ess back and develop. But like you say GL...where?

I am by no means a fan, but if you had watched Ian Andrews play for us, I think you might be a little more forgiving.

I have watched many 'keepers in my time as a Saints fan and Baz is far and away from the bottom of the pile and lets not forget he is in his early twenties and 'keepers do not generally reach their peak until they are in their late 20's/early thirties.
I think the adverse comments on Baz are generally unfair.
I believe he will turn out to be a good asset for us.

When he does it in an important Championship game in men’s football on loan, even I might start changing my mind on him.

Disappointed there’s been no takers so far, I hope the club aren’t asking for a loan fee or 100% of the wages, he needs to play at Champ or a good League 1 level to see if he’s developed at all, take a few whacks from centre forwards and get low firm shots fired at him. I’d take no wage contribution if it got him 4 months good exposure to demonstrate he’d improved significantly and got stronger or whether he’s as he was and needs to be written out of next season.

Looking good in lads football plus some decent games for them is how the club got its pants pulled down embarrassingly in the first place. When he does it in the seniors somewhere in a relegation six pointer or a play offs game, then he’s getting back towards contention.

Decent saves to be fair to him. Agree a loan makes sense right now. Hull just lost Rushworth by recall, Gav would be a very similar profile option. Not sure if they could loan him and Taylor though? You’d want a championship loan really.

Watford need a keeper on loan as Bachmann got injured recently and will miss several months now after having surgery.

We had rothwell and brooks on loan from Bournemouth last season, so assuming no issue.

I guess the lack of rumours around him suggests there is very little interest?

If he's still here in Feb it probably tells you how other coaches see him! We've pretty much said to anyone he's available, I read that we were willing to cover 100% wages as well just to ensure he got a club.
