And the worst keeper in the championship at 21

Yes if you ignore the saves he made as "Saves he should be expected to make" and include goals that literally no keeper in the world have stopped.

Ah yes, the old "every striker in the Championship turned into world beaters when they had to get past crisp packet hands" argument.

Absolute horseshit.

I was hoping someone would use this one as a go to. Of course it's COMPLETELY the keeper's fault and not at all down to the appalling defending in front of him. Obviously he should do better but you're seriously saying that's 100% Bazunu's fault and no one elses?

All "basic saves any keeper should be making" no doubt.

And before anyone points out how some of the rebounds were put in, I remember Niemi doing that a lot but used to get credited with making the save anyway.

Yep - a good 70% of them are, the other 10% are punches (included in a highlight reel, always a warning sign), and the other 20% he palms straight out to the oppo

What are you even on about? It's a 25 yard potshot from a knockdown, just fucking save it!!

You're honestly going to say that the defenders shouldn't have stopped that shot coming in?

Have you ever seen a striker highlight reel? They always include tap ins and penalties!

So what you're saying is that there isn't a single good save in there?

I don't need to watch any YouTube compilations. I know what I saw. Bazunu is shite

Not sure anyone's actually disputing that tbf

These two stick in my throat too, forget the defending - how the fuck have they gone in?

Jesus christ, goal scored in the 97th, Bazunu dives in the 98th.

Both goals were struck well, low, inside the box and were partially unsighted by other players legs. They were down to terrible marking more than anything.

First goal bounced twice before it got past him, second bounced once. Hardly well struck.

He doesn't have a goalkeepers instinct, end of.

Again, pulling back to his age, how many do at that age? Obviously with the exception of those who go onto be world class keepers. I don't think anyone thinks Bazunu is good enough right now...I just think that by the time he's retired, he'll be remembered as a good keeper. Not great but good. That's all.

So he should be playing in League One, that's his level. He might be 'good' one day, but why should we suffer him until then?

No. I agree, a couple of years in League One would do him the world of good. As stated, he quite clearly is crap right now.

Bazunu: Worst shot stopper on PL record in 22/23. Before his injury he was on track to achieve the same 'feat' in the Championship. Clearly not a natural keeper, he played outfield until late in his development, no genuine howlers just consistently poor shot-stopping (i.e. goalkeeping 101).

Lumley: Worst shot stopper in the championship 22/23 out of 55 keepers! Generally quite shite, it’s baffling why we signed him.

McCarthy: Not been the same since we got arse raped 0-9 against Man United. Average shot stopper, awful on his feet.

We actually play really decent footy, why the fuck can't we find a competent goalkeeper?

Makes a mockery of the fact he was signed for £12m to be our number 1 in the Premier League. We needed an improvement on McCarthy and somehow ended up with a downgrade. Poor signing.

For gods sake can we stop with the who is the most shittiest keeper out of baz and McCarthy......the one thing we all agree on is neither is good enough for the Premiership and we desperately need a new keeper!

For gods sake, can we stop with the Premiership. We aren’t in the Scottish league. We are Premier League.

Well, for this year at least!

It looked like  the Chelsea keeper borrowed his gloves yesterday.

It's ok for them, they have another 7 to pick from whereas we have McCarthy or Lumley 🙂

Given enough time I genuinely think he could be one of the best keepers in the National League at 31...

Some players get better in the mind, when they are out the side for a while. Balancing that up... 🙂

And Stephens if he gets shoehorned in there.

I long for the days when old crisp packet hands was the most pressing of all our issues.

Talking about crisp packet wrists, it would be interesting to have seen the reaction for Leicester’s winner, had Bazunu conceded it.

I did think that as well tbf.

The whataboutery doesn’t change the fact that Gavin is by far the worst keeper I’ve ever seen for Saints by miles. And I’m including Chris Woods, Alan Blayney, Keith Grainger, Phil Kite, Bart and others in that. Whoever thought he was worth £14m or whatever it was or that he’d ever make above L1 needs a session at Specsavers.

Even the last sentence is generous. I watched Cheltenham v Bradford last night and the Robins’ number 2 keeper and Bradford’s first choice were far more solid than Gavin on the basics.

Probably about the same. Ramsdale has been a massive disappointment for the fee we paid.

Whilst I would have liked his transfer fee added to the fee of one of our forwards to get a better striker in, I dont feel AR has let us down, he has made some brilliant saves. Its whats in front of him. I felt Macca was treated badly, his mistake at Newcastle was due to him following the managers orders. It is interesting to see that AR plays the ball how he wants without reprimand.

I would like us to be swashbuckling with Adam and Archer each side of TP. AR's long balls can then get flicked on or held up, if we lose the ball on the halfway line is better than on the edge of our box.

We’ve tried that.
