About middle of the road so far, on par with Raya and Martinez. I'll take that.

Last time we were in the Prem, Bazunu was dropping a clanger on average once every two games according to the stats.

While there wasn't any clear over- or underperformance to speak of, let's be fair: we certainly expected more, and Ramsdale probably expected more from his defence.

2 seasons ago. Under a different manager. With different players.

Knock it up to the big man and get runners to feed off the knock downs doesn’t really cut it in the PL in 2024.

Perhaps, although Haarland is a big man, Im not necessarily saying playing hoofball but playing small forwards against big defenders does not cut it with us either. TP is not just a lamp post,, he can use his feet and the Leicester defence couldnt handle his strength and hold up.

You're right, we should stick with what we know works instead of something that was disproven by the 15 minute experiment 2 years ago.

Worked well for us with Pelle.

And Russball does ? 😂😂

You need an out ball, & Tall Paul can give us that. Knock it into the channels or for a flick on & pin them in, like Jack Carlton’s sides used to do. Because the issue isn’t just mincing around at the back and poor marking, we let sides out way too easily with our half hearted press. Everyone goes on about Ireland’s long balls, but the key to their game was the hard work and press up the pitch. It was years before pressing became hip, they’d turn the back four & press them to death. At the moment the opposing centre half’s can play in their slippers puffing on a pipe.

That's not how we played with Pelle.

It 100% was. He gave us the option of playing it direct into him from the CBs and his strength and first touch meant he was able to control it and lay it off. We didn't do it with every pass, that would have been ridiculous...kind of like how ridiculous it is that we always look for the short pass now.

Yep, Pelle was great at the hold up.  Got us up the pitch so well.

I have great memories of Rickie Lambert being a master at it. Especially in the lower leagues but also the a prem. we could go,long and he was supreme at positioning himself when marked to take the ball down and lay it off. An absolute master at his craft. Pelle wasn’t in that class but he brought plenty more to the table in other areas. How spoilt we were.

funnily enough in the build up to the Forest v Leicester game Neville and Carragher are saying it very much is an effective tactic these days with the big man up top being back in fashion.

Having someone strong leading the line is completely different from playing a ‘knock it long for the big man’ style of football. Pelle was surrounded by excellent ball players, who played it in and off him. All of last season we were notably weaker without Adams leading the line.

No-one is saying we revert to Wimbledon style tactics.

Adam and Archer each side of TP. AR's long balls can then get flicked on or held up

If you notice it says flicked on OR held up. Im not advocating just long ball, but AR is playing long with Archer up front by himself. Utilise what assets we have and so using TP's strength and advantage of height to our advantage. Only this weekend we saw other teams using their tall forwards

Wash your mouth out and never speak of these despicable acts ever again.

This is what forest are doing and they are 3rd in the table while everyone else is trying to replicate man City who are also failing at their own style atm

Anyone looking forward to the return of the championships best keeper.

I think Walkers are bringing a special packet as tribute to his wrists

Before our late slump last season, I definitely had a moment where I was looking forward to seeing how Baz and Will, under RussBall, would do in the PL, with a strengthened squad.

So, if it's still Russ next season, and things go well, I might end up thinking the same way. 🙂

Hopefully Juric doesn't want him anywhere near the 1st team.

At least if he gets back into the first team we can stop blaming our lack of goals for.

This is excellent news and will give everyone a lift - if we can get him back in the first team we could well achieve the double of lowest points and earliest calendar relegation - 29 March is the date to beat. COYS

Do we think he's improved in his time away?

Joking aside we should all get behind him ….

and then hopefully one of us can stop the ball going in the net

I wouldn’t.  Got hands like empty crisp packets.

Good news for the lad. Despite him not being a fans favourite, it's better having him fit than not. It's now up to the manager to make the right choices in terms of keeper selection/retention.
