LegalEagle Posted 22 June, 2023 Posted 22 June, 2023 …..out in a few minutes at 9am. Away to Swansea first game up would be fitting.
saintant Posted 22 June, 2023 Posted 22 June, 2023 Looks a pretty tough start and we are notorious for being very slow out of the blocks.

spyinthesky Posted 22 June, 2023 Posted 22 June, 2023 Looking at the fixtures makes me realise it would be easy to return to the Prem but perhaps I have been beaten down by last season or two of despair and last seasons abject performances against lower league sides
revolution saint Posted 22 June, 2023 Posted 22 June, 2023 Yeah, televised first game, tough September, two home games over Christmas including boxing day and a home game for the last game of season.
Give it to Ron Posted 22 June, 2023 Posted 22 June, 2023 Last time I did Wednesday away the keeper got a header equaliser in injury time

SW5 SAINT Posted 22 June, 2023 Posted 22 June, 2023 (edited) Always seem to lose 3-1 away on the opening day to a newly promoted team from Yorkshire…..! I think Pompey went there on the opening day last year… Edited 22 June, 2023 by SW5 SAINT Edit

DT Posted 22 June, 2023 Posted 22 June, 2023 Norwich at home for the second game will have extra resonance for Russell Martin. Swansea at home on Boxing Day also appropriate. Leeds away on the final day (to get a play-off place?)
Kenilworthy Posted 22 June, 2023 Posted 22 June, 2023 We are nailed on to lose at Wednesday on TV. I reckon we will have 14 points by the end of September with three wins and 5 draws 1
eurosaint Posted 22 June, 2023 Posted 22 June, 2023 It really all depends on what sort of team we are left with on Aug 4th although a Friday night away to newly promoted Sheff Wed has got defeat written all over it 😵 1
Saint86 Posted 22 June, 2023 Posted 22 June, 2023 (edited) Well, we'll know where we are come start/end of September. Looks a tough start on paper - But if we want promotion we should be winning those. Thoughts Wednesday have just sacked their manager/coaching setup, which for a newly promoted team that needs momentum and to strengthen efficiently seems a poor decision. Norwich at home will be a good test - one we shouldn't lose and you would hope we win (but manager needs time yada yada) I think Plymouth (A) will be tough. Good manager, great atmosphere around the club, carrying a lot of momentum and confidence in how they play. QPR are not very good - this is a great chance for a win 😄 Sundarland (A) will be very tough, and a promotion contender 6 pointer to boot. Leicester (H) - Promotion favourite at home, if they live up to their billing that's a must win. Ipswich (H) - Promotion favourite at home, if they live up to their billing that's a must win. Boro (A) - another that will be very tough, and a promotion contender 6 pointer to boot. Leeds (H) - What a run? just going to predict a win here for the hell of it. Then finally, Stoke (A) and Rotherham (H), and relax. Reality is we have to start hot in August (very un saintsy) and then carry that into a very tough run of games in September. Martin does know the league in all fairness, and if we can be in touching distance after Leeds we should be setup nicely for the rest of the season. Edited 22 June, 2023 by Saint86
Crazy Diamond Posted 22 June, 2023 Posted 22 June, 2023 2005/06 we played Wednesday away followed by Norwich at home in the early weeks of the season. Back to back wins. I think we then drew the next eight.
The Cat Posted 22 June, 2023 Posted 22 June, 2023 (edited) Quite happy the 2 weekends I'm at festivals clash with long away trips. A bit annoying the first game is a Friday night. Edited 22 June, 2023 by The Cat
Saint86 Posted 22 June, 2023 Posted 22 June, 2023 Soft landing for some: And these are Leeds' opening fixtures for context:
skintsaint Posted 22 June, 2023 Posted 22 June, 2023 Easy start, Weds just lost their entire management and coaching team.

CB Fry Posted 22 June, 2023 Posted 22 June, 2023 That Sheffield Wednesday game absolutely nailed on to be on Sky. They are coming up, we are going down, new managers at both, both big clubs with history etc etc etc Friday night or could even be Sunday as no Prem games. Don't moan when they move it because absolutely guaranteed.
Mr Nimbus Posted 22 June, 2023 Posted 22 June, 2023 Anyone know a way of linking the fixtures to your iPhone calendar? I swear you could do that before but that was some years back mind.

Blimey, so on the published fixtures it is the Friday already. I can see it now. Genuinely thought they would at least publish the fixtures "straight" before changing them. Thanks - Well, at least my prediction was right! 2
Mr Nimbus Posted 22 June, 2023 Posted 22 June, 2023 Norwich away on NYD. Thats a rough journey at the best of times let alone on a Bank holiday 3
Le Timmier Posted 22 June, 2023 Posted 22 June, 2023 Swansea on Boxing Day, a bit of Christmas needle if they're still salty about compensation!
LaptopSaint Posted 22 June, 2023 Posted 22 June, 2023 Brilliant. Looking forward to it. Four wins to start with, and then roll on September 🤣
aintforever Posted 22 June, 2023 Posted 22 June, 2023 Fuck me. Relegation hits home when you see that list of shite. 2 2

LuckyNumber7 Posted 22 June, 2023 Posted 22 June, 2023 Yikes that looks a really tough start, we play all the relegated and newly promoted teams in the first 9 games. Six weeks to get ourselves ready!

malcolm waldron Posted 22 June, 2023 Posted 22 June, 2023 Does anyone know yet if the first game of the season at 8pm kick off on a Friday night is on Sky?

igsey Posted 22 June, 2023 Posted 22 June, 2023 Hadn't quite realised how isolated we are geographically in this league - our nearest away game is probably either Bristol City or QPR in London! 1
