Yeah should go to UN and put a resolution in. Do things civilised and be completely ineffective

It's a standard that absolutely no other country would be adhering to if it happened to them.

I would say that without that, there’s no incentive for Hamas to negotiate anything and the hostages would be in more danger.

Hamas have plenty to negotiate over. Bombing the place creates a new concession, ie a ceasefire, for the Israelis to negotiate over rather than giving Hamas the leverage to demand something else.

It's high stakes war gaming.

Straight after the attack the Israelis and Hamas would have been talking, direct or through intermediaries. The same route as this cease fire was negotiated. It didn't need the formal approach you mention. Why are you being flippant.

But had  Israel not reacted, there really wouldn't be any reason for Hamas to not just do it again.

There's still no reason for Hamas to not do it again.

I'm not talking about Israel not reacting, I'm just saying that they didn't act in a hostages first way. It's not just me saying it but a lot of the families in Israel are.

I’d say being dead was a fairly good reason.

The next generation are growing up in a war zone, watching women and children die at the hands of the IDF.

Rinse and repeat.

There could be room for an alternative ideology that doesn’t get them slaughtered.

I know we don’t agree but if I was a Palestinian I’d be very much blaming Hamas for having no where to live right now.

What about those in the West Bank, living under effective military occupation ?

This has been going round on repeat for too long, and will need both sides to back down.

It'll keep going on so long as there is religious ideology and two sides, neither of whom accept the others right to exist on that land. There really isn't much difference between the two of them, people just feel sorry for the Palestinians because their military is crap. If the armed forces were the other way around we'd be seeing far worse attrocities in Israel.

If the army's were the other way around the sympathys of millions around the world would be the other way around as well.

I have little doubt that if Israel didn't exist then the jewish population in Palestine would have been persecuted by extreme factions.

Maybe the sympathy of some people, but undeniable there are some who have sympathy with Palestine because they are the enemy of the Jews.

Yep. Religious ideology is often cited, and whilst a factor, ignores that neither side appear to live in peace alongside each other.

But you can see how fluid that is, the right wing used to be very antisemitic, now that a large section are anti-islamic, some are now pro jewish.

Certain muslim sections are antisemitic, so outside of that people's sympathys with the Palestinians is because of the situation not becasue they are antisemitic.

The Palestinian representatives turned down the establishment of a state which consisted 100% of Gaza & 92% of the West Bank. Makes you wonder whether they really want a resolution. People should remember that when they glibly throw around the phrase “2 state solution”. They could have had that 2 decades ago.

The Oslo Accords were not as simple and straight forward as that statement implies.

That's a bit of a fallacy. The 92% was not a single area of land. It was loads of islands, and was dissected with a tunnel and Israeli roads. There were other issues such as Israeli presence, no military, etc. It's not as clear cut as you make out.

Very quiet, considering what an extremely deeply unpleasant poster he is on here,

Racist to brown women, champions wife beaters like Geoff Boycott, and now hates Jews.

Lying on a sunbed, pina colada, bowl of spicy nuts, little browse on the internet. That's called being on holiday.

And post about me and Turkish.

Seems like a waste of money to do that on holiday. That inane shit can be done anytime.

On the other hand maybe we should be blessed that he's thinking about us whilst on holiday. Rest assured there will be no reciprocation.

I apologise profusely for using the word “many” in an earlier post, especially to the Islamophobes on the forum.

Apparently I should have said that there were “multiple instances” instead.

My bad.

A former Colonel in the IDF, who was "'retired"' from service after criticising Netanyahu online, talking to an anti-Government Israeli news outlet , and republished on a pro-Palestinian website. Could there possibly be the slightest hint of exaggeration and bias ?

Imagine a pond. Regularly leaves fall onto the pond which creates small ripples, sometimes a twig falls into and creates bigger ripples, sometimes branches fall into it and the ripples are even bigger. Does the pond every react angrily every time something causes a ripple? Does it call the leaves and twigs and branches names? No the pond doesn't react at all, it lets it go and it returns to its serene state. the pond is your mind Sog, the pond can never stop things falling into it, but it accepts that they will and lets it go, so it remains a serene, calm place. Is your mind serene and calm? or are you eaten up with bitterness and anger and jealous and hate? Be a pond.

Sits bored at work.

Logs into Saints Web.

Examines posting history of SOG and Tamesaint.

Learns their previous posts off by heart.

Gets a stiffie every time he finds a new post from one of them.
