Will we have a better transfer window than 2005?

Last time we were relegated we signed the following players for a total of £90,000 in the summer.

Dennis Wise - Free

Djamel Belmadi -Free

Darren Powell - Free

Ricardo Fuller - £90,000

Tomasz Haijto - Free

Kamil Kosowski - Loan

Do you trust the new owners to have a better window than this?

Hopefully more along the lines of 2006, without breaking the bank this time around. I think we spent quite a bit more than the sums below suggest, relatively speaking. For some reason Rasiak is missing although thought he originally joined on loan, and then signed for £2M in the summer.

Bradley Wright-Phillips Man City Nominal 05 Jul, 2006
Pele Belenenses Signed 10 Jul, 2006
Jermaine Wright Leeds Free 10 Jul, 2006
Kelvin Davis Sunderland £1,000,000 21 Jul, 2006
Rudi Skacel Hearts £1,600,000 29 Jul, 2006
Jhon Viafara Portsmouth Signed 04 Aug, 2006
Chris Makin Reading Free 16 Aug, 2006
Inigo Idiakez Derby £250,000 31 Aug, 2006
Marek Saganowski Troyes Signed 28 Jun, 2007

I liked the Fuller signing, less so Powell.

IIRC the actual figure was £7m, which was a huge amount for us given that we often didn't spend that in the premier league. Bradley Wright-Phillips transfer was funded by us winning some coca cola competition/

Pretty sure we had a pre-agreement with Rasiak which meant we were allowed to sign him permanently during the 05/06 season rather than in the summer.

Fucking helmet that got sent off in a friendly against Bournemouth just before the season started when we were already struggling for CB’s and we got dicked 4-1 by Palace as a result.

Don't worry guys, much like this season we rectified the summer errors of 2005 by signing Ostlund, Bialkowski, Miller, Brennan, Potter, Chaplow (Good), Rasiak (Good), Madsen and Wright in the winter window.

I recall him being booed and called a skate on his debut for us.

After his loan to Ipswich he came back a completely different player - six goals in six games. Always felt he should have been kept on to continue the partnership with Rasiak that would have seen us doing better than just scraping into the playoffs

Fuller kept us up. Best £90k we ever spent. £410k profit too when he went to Stoke.

The negativity around him was mainly due to the fee I think, we'd just got relegated, sold Crouch and co and our big summer signing up front was Fuller for 90k. Just more bullets to fire Lowes way really, but once he had a chance with us he was decent, I remember his run at the back end of the season under Burley (he had a great link up with Rasiak at that point)

I seem to remember he was always injured with bad knees.

I seem to remember him hitting the side netting during a 0-0 draw with Plymouth from ON THE GOAL LINE. Quite an achievement tbf, I didn't even know it was physically possible.

Ostlund was great for us and Miller, Brennan, Potter and Madsen all had their good moments. Even Wright wasn't as bad as made out, although once he started getting switched to right back it got worse.

Bialkowski looked quality until after he got that serious injury away to Newcastle in the cup, and has forged a very good career for himself. We could do a lot worse than bringing him back.
