Shades of Nathan Jones with whatever this is meant to be

Plus, it seems like he's welcoming them back from a break, not just the international players but the whole squad - it begs the question, how long have they had off? A week? More?

is it just me that find that a bit cringeworthy?

The players must absolutely love him. Easy ride, doesn't get on their backs of they lose as long as they do what he's asked them to, still getting paid and get a friendly older brother type instead of a manager. Great for a summer camp but completely useless for inspiring a team to win and survive.

Far too pally with the players. The best managers are respected by their players but not best mates with them. This is the Premier League not Sunday League football.

Interesting question i saw raised somewhere, is this Saints side actually the worst top flight Saints side ever, or do we have the worst top flight Saints manager ever?

I mean we all know statistically we're currently on course for becoming (and by some distance) the worst performing side, also the football is some of the worst to watch of any manager in my lifetime, but is that manager or players?

I'm honestly unsure the players are as bad as the results suggest, if you take our relegated sides in the modern era then i'd say a lot of our current first time would be thereabouts the first team of the sides that went down, maybe Niemi over Ramsey, and Crouch over any of our current strikers. But really are this squad that bad?

Which makes me think it's got to be the manager who's at fault

I really don’t get the hate for him. It’s so weird.

1. Because he’s a fucking cock.
2. Because he’s an arrogant cock.
3. Because he’s useless at his job.

That fucking way of greeting players is fucking embarrassing. It’s an international break and we’re bottom of the friggin league having just lost to the mighty Wolves. This David Brent tribute act is fucking tedious, a pound shop Brendan Rogers.

He seems to have been like this consistently. Changing now, when he's been so focused on process rather than result, would lose him the squad.

I see that players, from their body language, find it a bit cringe too, but go along as it's their boss. No doubt preferable to a shouty, inconsistent boss though.

I don’t hate him. We’ve had plenty of appalling managers over the decades. My ire is directed at the Danish charlatan responsible for choosing three of them, and refusing to sack his latest one.

I used to work as the Leader of a public facing organisation. I was the ultimate go to person for complaints. One of the most oft heard tropes of complaining was when the complainer switched the issue from being a personal matter to them to being a matter that “many” are upset about. This was often because the original complainer felt that they needed further numbers to back up the complaint. The more the better and the more likely to get a result . The big clue is when the complainer start to move away from the “I” to the plural “ WE”. The idea being this gives more authority and validity to the complaint or issue. Conversely it also indicated to me the paucity of the original complainers issue- the sooner I heard the “ we” the more I knew the issue was more personal than a class suit for example.
In Saints case we have c 30,000 at each home game and countless hundreds of thousands around the world. When using the term “ we” it’s important to note that the original complainer has not got a little mini clubhouse of his own at which they debate proposals such as these but rather that the OPhas made a quantum leap in suggesting that anyone who does not agree with him must be a “ deluded supporter” and “ pathetic” because The WE can mean him and three mates a hundred mates but it certainly does not represent the Saints diaspora. Indeed to even imply one speaks for the diaspora probably qualifies as pathetic and deluded more than the original point. The poster in question may well be correct in his criticism - but to use the “ we” when the last home match the Northam was full behind RM suggests he’s taken rather a leap and got overexcited in his trash talk. And I thought I was the one best known for getting a bit ott at times, this poster seems to spend most or all his time in posts attacking saints in one shape or form. Perhaps he should co side wether he is at the right club it offends him so much?

One thing I do like about Mickey, despite the shortcomings you mention, is that he always uses spellcheck and fucking paragraphs...

Apart from the fact we've had our worst ever top flight start, we've had a worse start than the team who had the worst ever top flight season, we have only scored seven goals all season, he refuses to change tactics despite them not working, his football is boring and sucks the soul out of the game, and he comes across as an arrogant bell end?

Yeah you're right it's really weird.

QED. Come back at me and say you disagree- but preceding it with this sort of stuff - from you and too many others - is why it’s rare you see a pro RM or optimistic aligned post on here. 👍

Are you sure it's not because the manager has us playing passive, shite, boring, predictable football and the team has 4 points from a possible 33?

You don't become a European Powerhouse (TM @gio1saints) by getting points, playing good football and winning games FFS, you get there by being relegated but getting maximum possession.

Jesus why are people on here so backwards?

Yeah, really weird...

It's November and we're 1/5 to get relegated.

The football is awful to watch.

The bloke is a deluded, arrogant, insufferable hipster who simultaneously manages to sound like the footballing equivalent of a Tory politician from the 80s, 'if it's not hurting, it's not working'...as we're told suicide inducing performances are actually good for us.

We're now miles behind dross from league 1 and championship days like Brentford, Boscombe, Brighton etc.

Oh hi guys, how was the international break?

Awww. There was an article the other day that said they were smitten kittens. Pleased for them. And if the relationship has stood him telling her about how he led the team she supports to another defeat, then it will hopefully stand the test of time.

All a bit David Brent isn’t it. Russ’s greatest strength is being pally with the players, sadly it achieves fuck all

Yep it really is. I knew he was pals with a selected few, but I had no idea he was so close in personality to Nathan Jones. What is it with Rasmus - is he choosing these nut jobs deliberately using selection criteria scribbled on a grubby sheet of bog paper?
