If that's a quote the man is a deluded idiot albeit on a rock star's salary. The club seems full of con men,  can be the only conclusion. As he rightly says the guys at the back take all the risks. So stop taking the risks because as soon as they start rotating the ball opponents breathe a sigh of relief, form up and put the whole team in front of the ball making it incredibly difficult to pass through. If he wants to break the line, change the focus, pass the ball quickly forward thence to the breaking forwards maximum two or three passes into the  space behind the defenders. Use the whole width and attack out to in. Equally in defence defend in to out instead of kamikaze wing backs leaving spaces for opponents to exploit. Never mind three centre backs defend with a back four. What we are currently doing will never work at this level unless we do it with the best players in the world and that can't happen.

We have some good players that aren't being used to their natural strengths and are currently wasted. We need a manager that throws away the dogma and looks at the players and puts them into a framework that brings the best out of them, supports colleagues and provides the team with it's best chance. At the moment they are like actors reading from a script and daren't adlib. Sad to say they are getting the results their play deserves. Everything is so slow. High tempo, hard press, physical challenge and hard running is the way to go. It is long past the time for change.

All good points but it feels like we are banging our collective heads against a brick wall.

You must have taken it badly when you found out that there is no Santa Claus, Tooth Fairy or women who will have sex with you without being drunk or in exchange for cash. You seem to have grown up with the impression that everyone is lying to you. Strange that you think the people who actually do, like Boris Johnson or Nigel Farage, are the people you are prepared to believe. You need to re-calibrate your pony detector.

I am not normally one for demanding that Club owners issue statements to supporters every 5 minutes, but surely, now IS the time? They need to provide some sort of idea as to their thinking/planning. Just staying quiet in the background and letting things fall apart around them doesn't seem to make any sense, especially when you are dealing with/trying to keep paying customers.

Baffling how many Saints fans are still backing Martin. Check recent posts on youtube, twitter and reddit: We're fast becoming a meme team with all this pointless possession and little to no shots on target.

I am not exactly still backing him, but I am a bit torn. I actually like him (as I did Ralph) and in some ways will be sorry to see him go. As I have said before, his style of football is brilliant............when it works. A number of times last season when we were winning games, seeing the opposition get frustrated because they couldn't get the ball off us was great. Sadly, when it doesn't work, it is f*cking diabolical! I am not one for name-calling but it is not his fault. He has his way of playing and he is determined to stick with it.....principals.....I get it. He could get a job at a lower league club and be very successful with it. It is up to the owners to either stick with it and take the consequences or say it aint working, and then make a change.

So the team is two separate parts , defence and possibly attack , not actually a team then . That explains it all .

Yeah and I'm sure the forwards who hardly ever see the ball are really happy that Martin views them as not being brave like the defenders. It's strange that RM advocates possession football yet he's been here for 18 months and still not managed to coach many of our players how to pass the ball.

He needed to go after the Bournemouth performance but it's to late now, the damage is done and we are down. The job won't be attractive and let's not forget that these idiot owners thought Nathan Jones and Ruben Selles were worth a shot in the Prem.

Sport Republic are the big issue. We won't be a decent top flight outfit under these clowns. They got a free pass last time out in the Prem and I fear they'll get another one this season.

I wish rid of the whole lot of them, RM, SR and Dragan and the clown car they all showed up in.

I just want someone in charge who understands the city, the fans and possibly even the game.

Guy Askham is putting together a consortium , plans to take us back to The Dell

Also funny how Dibling is the only player who really tries to take the opposition on and he's been quickly dropped in favour of AA who who couldn't beat a snail.

Russell Martin is deluded and has not helped himself at the best of times, but has he been backed with transfers. Not really.

Are they his signings? I doubt.

Has he got support in the transfer and scouting department? Again, I doubt very much.

It doesn’t mean to say his tactics so far this season have been poor, but questions need to be asked of Sport Republic and fingers need to start pointing.

It’s difficult to have a go at a manager when you don’t properly back him.

Cough! Manning, Wood, I would say they are very much his signings.

He said a lot of times that we would only sign players who 'wanted to join'.

Every player who has come in has mentioned speaking to RM.

It's not unreasonable to think he has the sign-off on every transfer we make.

Wood was an example of a signing who will have come 100% from him, and he's a League One player.

Don't players also fall out of love with the game when they get easily beaten every week? If a professional footballer isn't results driven then maybe they should be turning out for the local pub team instead.

It is very clear that it doesn’t matter what the results are week in week out, as things stand the club won’t sack RM. They’re going to give him the season. The only thing that might change that mindset is either a stay away from the fans, a walk out during a game or demonstrations in the ground game after game. Essentially it’s up to the fans. You want him gone then instead of coming on here and bitching about it, take some action and get the fans on board. No guarantees it will work but on the pitch and in the boardroom nothing will change.

So no danger of a boot hitting you on the head or the tray of drinks hitting the wall after losing. Sod the love. Alex Ferguson wasn't successful with the love, they were bloody terrified of him. We need something different.

I don't understand how RM can honestly still believe his own hype when we're playing so badly and going down with barely a whimper. We are the worst performing team in the top 4 divisions.

How does he still think he is right?

Who does he blame, the players? The fans? I just don't get it.

We'd probably be better off with Dark Munster, rather than Ankersen, choosing our next manager.

99% of fans could do a better job than the Danish Del Boy.

Shit, a monkey with a tombola would be able to choose better managers than that charlatan.

He's on a mega salary.

And if press reports/rumours are correct he may get to knob Miss Pinder in his spare time. I can see why he thinks life is pretty good and doesn't let a little thing like football results get in the way of enjoying it.

Who was it at our club who said something to the effect t of 'results aren't important' ? It might have been Semmens, who's now gone, but it seems that is another "philosophy" ( and we do seem to like those) which is pervasive through the club.

Are they though ? Or is it the internet forums that are out of step with the public mood ?

There will be a % of nods still clapping him down the tunnel.

Jones got “your football is shit”, he should have had this weeks ago. Fuck me people moaned about Claude Puel’s tactics, he was the great entertainer compared to this fucking cock. Last year was bad enough, boring winning football, but boring losing football is fucking tedious.

It was easy for the fans to voice their displeasure over Jones because some of the stuff he was coming out with in the media.

Russell talks just as much shit but gets away with it as people think he's a "nice guy" when to me he actually seems very arrogant. I guess having a promotion under your belt helps too but that doesn't wash with me (we were very lucky to go up IMO).

No doubt SR would've stuck with Jones for longer if the fans hadn't have turned. Sadly I just can't see this happening to Martin. As you say, a fair few still clap the bloke at the end of games as if he's the messiah.

This place tends to be more negative than St Mary’s - it’s a magnet for miserable fuckers who have nothing better to do than moan.

That said, everyone I go to the games with wanted shot of him ages ago.

Then they really need to (very loudly) make themselves heard. If not, that smug bastard Ankersen will think everything’s hunky dory and carry on with his disastrous vanity project.
