You realise it doesn’t work like that

Do you know this for sure?

I would have thought there’s a pool of agreed choices but of course someone always heavily endorses their preferred man. Ankersons man was Jones (he wanted him at brentford beforehand), semmens was a big persuasion on selles getting the job.

There’s a whole thread dedicated to suggestions for our new manager. Some better, some not, some realistic, others not so much..

Other than that, great point well made 👍

I'd start by looking at the 9 clubs which finished higher than Swansea this season.

I reckon Martin's biggest asset (to our board) was that he only has a year on his contract to pay out to Swansea. Presumably Lampard turned us down before we approached Martin.

Why would we go for Lampard? He is fucking crap.

I'm glad our board are not fans.

Apparently we’re haggling over compensation. 800k for him and his staff.

What is 800k to Saints in this day in age? If you want the guy and he’s your no1, go get him. Don’t fart arse around like you have transfers over the past few seasons, then miss out and say ‘oh well, we tried hard’
This fuckking club, honestly.

Apparently 🙄

He'll have more resources.

How well had Pochettino done at Espanyol before coming here?

Diego Simeone - loves the city, especially the M271 and Millbrook Rd, with the particular highlight being the Regents Park Rd traffic lights.  He  even put his name on the list for a place in Redbridge Towers, (best views of the aforementioned major attractions),with a view to buying it when he has been there long enough, thus giving him a leg up on the property ladder

But, as usual we went for the cheap option!

Such a ridiculous myth. SR for all their faults have done nothing on the cheap

That's just rubbish - there's plenty of better, realistic options on the entire thread dedicated to new managerial candidates.

Paid an absolute eye watering fortune to buy out and then pay off Nathan Jones

And don't get me started on Carillo II aka Tall Paul

Money down the drain

Apart from the fact that Martin was heavily a Wilcox choice you’d be spot on

Most footballing organisations, atleast those that tend to be successful, will have an agreed philosophy and then targets will be given based on analytics there or there abouts, obviously other judgements have to be made. It really isn’t a case that they sit around a table and pick out names until one sticks… of course if that really is your interpretation, or other’s interpretations, then it explains a lot of the posts/opinions on here….

So, I'm not fully up to speed with some of the more modern phrases, but can someone clarify for me: does Russell Martin qualify as a hipster, or is he simply a hipster's choice of manager ?

Would hate to get it wrong.

Arguably a bit of both

There is very few, if any realistic or appropriate names in that thread of waffle, and if you believe there is name them on here or on there and we’ll discuss it if you like ?

I hear we wanted Guardiola to continue the "Man City experiment", but we wouldn't stump up the additional £400k in compensation that City wanted. He'd already signed a 12 month rental on a 2 bed in Ocean Village, so he's now lost his £1300 deposit. Livid, apparently.

Had a look at Swansea's coaching staff to see who might follow Martin, as haven't seen any rumours on the new coaches coming. Positively, it looks like a lot of/all but one of Martin's coaches at Swansea also worked with him at MK Dons. So, if we're to bring the team over, which we need to do rather than the half hearted attempts of revitalising the coaching team that we've attempted over the years, then he has a longstanding relationship with these coaches: https://www.swanseacity.com/first-team-staff-0

It's almost as if every other club allows a manager to pick their coaches, rather than forcing Craig Fleming, Kelvin Davis, Carl Martin, etc.... upon them.

Another positive is that it's the fat bald one from the above link who probably won't be following Martin.

Well, it will be, and people have been taking the piss out of his Veganism as well already.

If Nathan Jones won a few matches then people would have mocked him less.

Did I dream the fact we spent £100m in the summer window?

I don't think that constitutes doing anything on the cheap. Decisions were iffy, granted, but they didn't withhold cash.

If he's shit it will be, just as Jones' bible bashing was, because he was shit. I don't care who or what he believes in, providing he can get us winning again.

There's a huge gulf between Buddhism and Christianity though. And he even says in this vid it's not something he needs to rely on but just something that benefits him when he is able to incorporate practices into his life. Buddhist practices are really just getting in tune with yourself and finding clarity in your own mind so you can live your best life, and there's no threat of eternal damnation in the fires of hell if you don't do them like there is with Christianity.

As this all but confirmed I think the club has made another big mistake hopefully it turns out I am completely wrong and they have played a blinder! Can't shake the feeling that we are a small club with an even smaller ambition
