Whether Russell Martin was the reason we got promoted, or not, he will be the reason we are relegated unless we dump him and find somebody who will at least instill a bit of fight into the squad.

Of course not. But not being satisfied doesn't mean you start slagging him off and boo'ing him on his first game.

No- once again many believe we got promoted despite Martin

Correct, although I still give him praise for getting us up.  Cant argue with the end result. He got us promoted, he was employed to get us promoted. So he achieved the end goal, can’t argue with that.

Doing it with one of the most expensively organised squads of Championship history by finishing 4th and going up via the playoffs is also factual. So yes, he got us up, but I think we all recognise there were certain limitations despite a massive spend.

So, yeah, showed he is a competent manager in the right circumstances. Showing more and more this season what his limitations are.  Getting the absolute most out of a squad doesn’t seem to be a core competency.

It’s said many times that some players just aren’t good enough for the Premier league, despite looking good in a division below. Russ is showing that’s also true for a manager.

ive said this a thousand times, we probably had the best championship squad last season before he came in and he almost screwed that up with a horrendous style that never suited our players, we were promoted due to a few individual players that were just too good for that league.

Don't really recall Martin being booed on his first game, but then again I didn't go to Sheffield.

Not sure Phd level analysis is required here. The football is shite, and the bloke's a knob.

Could be down already. Maybe give Nivea the gig, and go down actually trying to score a goal.

Nathan Jones was.

Edit: Sorry I think it may have been his second game - It was the cup game against Northampton.

I often wonder why Real Madrid wern't banging out door down to sign Mara, Manning, Stephens, Adams and Bazunu tbh.

A EFL pod mentioned that Robins was much more of a manager than a coach. That he worked well with his assistant, who was as key to the success. That assistant left during the summer, along with some other backroom staff.

Adrian Viveash, who the new owner got rid of in the summer.

MK Dons .... 1.3 goals per game conceded

Swansea ..... 1.44 goals per game conceded

Saints ( last season ) ..... 1.37 goals per game conceded ( league games )

So far this season .... 1.9 goals per game conceded ( league games )

He has consistently proved to be shit at managing defences. Without a goal threat his propaganda football is a sham.

So you’re basing all of this solely on Nathan Jones.  A complete disaster of an appointment from start to finish.

You really are all over the place.

No I'm basing this of football fans now a days now actually being supportive or loyal. The last Saints manager to be actually backed was Adkins. By backed I mean stood by when things wern't great.

That we did not have the best squad in the league at all. Our squad was nowhere near Leicester's.

The Nathan Jones that went on to manage Real Madrid. Oh sorry it was Charlton wasn't it. Almost as if that is his level. No one can defend that appointment.

The blokes a fucking cock. He was a cock last year when he got us promoted and he’s a cock this year when he’s failing miserably. The helmet needs to go, he’s sucking the joy out of football. To have 0 shots on target in a relegation 6 pointer is criminal, to then bang on about limiting their shots is fucking deluded. The sooner the prick fucks off the better, he’s as bad as Jones on the pitch and he’s a bigger knob head off it. Arrogant twat.

Utter rubbish.

when you get backed into a corner trying to defend your nonsense you often resort to outright lies. Top tip: don’t do that.

Please tell me a manager since who's been backed during a bad period? And before you say Koeman, please check out some of the comments when we lost 3-0 at home to Everton early in the season.

A very small sample of fickle idiots on an Internet forum moaning about him doesn't mean he wasn't backed FFS.

Ralph after the two 9-0s. RH himself said it was remarkable. And no-one was saying anything vaguely against Ronald after the 0-3 v Everton first home game of the season, a bit of frustration with a lethargic display. A few murmurs after the bad run mid-season but very low level.

Define “backed”?

If you’re talking about fans at actual games it’s almost all managers, despite how utterly shite they were.

If you’re talking about fans grizzling on message boards that managers are never going to read anyway, then your benchmarks are ludicrous.

I'm talking about the constant string of abuse managers get for the simple crime of not being perfect.

I was about to post the same regarding Ralph. Also there's backing a manager during a poor spell and then there's this. Losing 9 of your first 11 games (worst start in our history) and failing to produce shots on target in multiple games is horrible and there are absolutely no signs of anything changing.

We had as many shots on target against Man City as we had against Everton and Wolves combined, ( 2 ). In 270 minutes of football we had a total of 4 shots on target, ( though probably approaching 1500 passes ).

If you can’t vent off after a club record defeat then there’s something wrong and Ralph said if he’d been a fan he’d have left the ground before half-time. He was astonished how many fans stayed. This is a strange hill you seem determined to die on.

IIRC we then went away to Man City and narrowly lost. The team and manager were applauded off after a really resolute display.

Whatever lads. Enjoy finishing rock bottom of the league with a record low points. I'm done with this club tbh. You lot deserve everything that is happening to this club.

Have you ever managed staff, run a business or led a large department?

The workplace isn’t much different to the football industry, people just use stronger language at the football.

We are on course for that anyway with 70% possession and 1 shot on target at what was the bottom club this morning. Try Fratton, they won today. Although you might want to invest in a robust nose peg because John Westwood smells appalling. Assuming he hasn’t got arrested for urinating on the side of one of the stands pre-match.

A good example of the fanbase Bad Wolf derides....not even sticking around to back the manager
