The football isn’t that different to last season, clearly we’re a long way off being as successful as last season for obvious reasons.

So we accept that we move up a league and then don't bother to improve, just play the same?

Almost as if we're going to continue doing the same thing over and over, whilst expecting a different result, which is the definition of madness isn't it?

Don't think I mentioned McCarthy did I? Happy to be corrected.

You didn't recognise the change which was brought on by McCarthy not being able to pass out. The result was that we were much more direct and turned around a disasterous run of losses which had scuppered any chance of direct promotion. I gave Martin the credit for that however it may have been an unintended consequence, either way it worked.

I'm well aware we changed goalkeeper for those games because (if we're being pedantic about such minute details) I watched those games and at least one of the goals we scored included a short pass from McCarthy to his defenders and us "passing out" but again...things are much more nuanced than "THIS KEEPER ISNT AS COMFORTABLE AS OTHERS AND WE WON SO OUR TACTICS MUST HAVE CHANGED COMPLETELY WHY CANT WE DO THAT AGAIN ITS SO OBVIOUS OMG!!!"

And again...if we're talking things you haven't recognised...you seem to be omitting the fact that we had success against those teams with Bazanu in goal too.

Tragic that the club are repeating Lowe’s mistakes with PR people infiltrating supporter forums. They are getting so obvious now on their trolling as Rupert’s lot did.

I except Notnowcato from this, has different views from 99.9% of the site but he and Lighthouse are actual fans who happen to be big fans of Martin’s - disagree but still respect them.

A win and a clean sheet, and a bit of luck perhaps (for once this season). Will take that (obviously). Lets see if we can get a win out of Wolves somehow - would be absolutely massive.

Interesting stat on today's stream.

It took Dyche 11 games to get his first win in the prem, he went on to keep Burnley up that year. Martin has done it in 10... A glimmer of hope?

This is the thing for me. Great result today but if we lose next week we'll be bottom again. Tbh a win would be brilliant but a draw wouldn't be the worst result.

No, we get better at what we’re trying to do, improve that way and hope that results in a change of result.

Waited a long time for a week like this. Definitely got the rub today but think we deserve a bit of luck on our side.

Moving the ball faster - when we did that Everton struggled to cope and the goal was a classic example.

We need to mix it up more and try more shots from the edge of the box, work their keeper more. Sometimes you get rebounds or an error and cash in. Ramsdale is getting worked harder every game and need to ask more questions of the opposition.

Don't think we deserved to win and a draw would've been fair. Probably in spite of the manager but I'd rather we won games than lost just to get the manager out.

We lose because of him, and win in spite of him… ok then.

Yeah. None of our usual play resulted in a goal. A departure from that to quick direct passing on the counter attack did.

By the way, if you enjoy the way he wants us to play as you mentioned before you must have hated the goal we scored. So I also feel sorry for you 🤷🏼‍♂️

I expect them to make Jonny Evans captain and let him be a marauding legend.

How and why have you decided which bits of our play are 'the way he wants us to play' and which bits aren't? You do realise that the whole, "obsessed with possession, I don't care if we lose as long as it's over 70%, only allowed to pass backwards and sideways," thing is only an internet meme? We play a largely passing game but we've scored plenty of goals direct and/or on the counter. On Tuesday we played it long down the right for Armstrong to run onto several times and put some long balls in to TP, everyone just pretended it never happened.

You’re either offside or you aren’t, it’s a fairly simple concept.

Ooh, you’re entering the world of metaphysics here. Schrödinger’s cat and all that. Gone are the days of absolute certainty over such matters. These days you’re not offside until the fat VAR controller says you are. Until the referee draws his magic box in the air the outcome is uncertain and unknown.

Back in the real world, at the game he looked clearly offside but I could swear that nobody noticed those red and blue lines across the pitch.

My point was, still is, that there was enough time for someone to score a goal.

Bobby Stokes?

He was on side, the referee and linesman said so. Thought that a given.

You’re the stickler for rules whitey always defending the ref in marginal decisions. Offside is offside if it’s 1mm or 1 mile

What’s wrong with you lot tonight? Too much celebratory jungle juice?

I used the term ‘offside goal’ in the context of what could have happened in the last few minutes. Yet you and others can only concentrate on the word ‘offside’. Surely everybody knows what an offside goal is?

Surely?

*pedant alert*

It’s not actually possible to be a mile offside. 😎

Lighten up. We won FFS.
