All I’ve read for years is how we need adults in the room, how we need serious politicians to address serious issues. Yet this  fucking clown has got away with the most pathetic low grade campaign in living memory. Pound shop Boris who only got away with it because he’s on the “right” side. Fucking hell from Jo Swinsons massive tits, to a massive tit.

Tbf can’t disagree with any of that. As hypo says I have massive respect for the man for his dedication to his family. But his campaign has been an utter farce; it may have worked overall (we’ll see) but while its given me a bit of a laugh it’s made Lib Dems for me a party that I’d just not consider for a second.

The son ‘gag’ is particularly disappointing though.

It’s whether to try an have a nap between Sunderland/Newcastle results and start again at 2am or sit through endless analysis of the same results for over 2 hours.

Day off tomorrow so can’t fucking wait

Yep, me too. I’m going to have a kip after the exit poll and start watching again at 2.

Judged on merit if you've had equal opportunities in your formative years.

do white kids from council estates have equal opportunities to white kids from wealthy families?

Money will get you private schools. smaller classes etc.

Mrs ecuk268 spent her working life as an infant teacher, mainly reception class and specialising in teaching reading. Some kids came into reception able to read simple sentences whilst some others had never seen a book. Money makes a difference but so does parental attitudes.

What main channel to watch? Quite like CH4 panel and Laura K on BBC grates a bit. Or the Sky News birds?

I’ll have BBC for the exit poll because John Curtice is a brilliant genius. Plus if the blues get thoroughly tonked I’d like to see how upset Laura K gets, the terrible little shill. Then likely C4 for the analysis once that fun is over.

We could do a livestream on YouTube instead? Every other bugger is.

I’ll start with BBC and see how it goes

Whiling away a bit of time watching Octopussy and waiting for the exit poll. Not sure I’ll stay up that late TBH, it’s like the Super Bowl, depends how tired I am and what mood I’m in.

I agree. my niece is thick as fuck but her parents are minted and she's in an £8k a term private school and doing pretty well now. Plus she'll meet people who will open doors for her into future careers because her parents have got a bit of coin.

What's any of this got to do with measuring people on their contribution to society rather than skin colour?

The question was very simplistic.

Maybe he should have been asked "What are you going to do for communities that have poor housing, few facilities for pre-school children, over-subscribed GP practices etc regardless of ethnicity"?

Changed my mind, C4 will drive me mad. Might have to rely on the lovely Sophie Ridge and co.

OK then Turks, I'll bite.

Taken purely on face value, what he says about people being judged purely on merit rather than skin colour / sexuality is a noble thing to strive for. I genuinely look forward to the day that no such biases exist and everyone is treated equally regardless of their background. But you know as well as I do we're nowhere near there yet.

This is basically no different to the "actually, ALL lives matter" response to the BLM movement. While not untrue, it is just a convenient way to ignore the immediate reality of the challenges currently faced by minority groups without appearing overtly discriminatory. And as that subject has already been done to death on here, I'm not going to engage in any further debate about it.

However, the one thing that can't be ignored here is who it is that's saying this. If anyone is stupid enough to actually believe anything that comes out of the mouth of this shameless grifter, and that any government including him would actually result in a genuine level playing field for everyone, then they obviously haven't been paying any attention for the last decade or so.

So you’re saying Janet Jackson might get her knockers out at the declaration for New Forest West?

so people SHOULD be judged on skin colour then, wow. Quite an admission there Sheaf.

That’s quite the exit poll.

Yep. Predicts the lowest number of Tory seats since 1832. That's since before the Victorian era.

ITV for Sturgeon and Osborne has been gold so far.

That’s quite the kicking.

Reform getting double figures is a sucker punch for the blues as they’ll feel they’ll need to head that off, but swerving right has been their undoing. What a clusterfuck for the blue cunts.

Well done Rishi. Proud of you son.

You have to say, if this comes to fruition it’s good for democracy and reflects well on the British electorate. The fact that so many people are willing to change their vote based on real world circumstances should keep everyone on their toes. Five years ago we had Yorkshire mining towns voting Tory in the face of Corbyn’s Labour. Now it looks like the Tory mess is being thoroughly flushed down the khazi.

And Hartlepool by election was only 3 years ago and talk of 10 more years of Tory rule

It's decent. Peston is good, despite that stupid voice, and Sturgeon is hating it which is nice.

We can also hope that it makes the Tories get their act together and form a decent party for 2029. Maybe now they'll wake up and realise it isn't about them, they are here to serve the country not us to serve them. A democracy only works if there is credible opposition, we haven't had that for years, maybe now we might.

We grew up on the Flower Gardens and both my brother and I went to KES and then university - he got a first at Cambridge and made a great career in the City.
