We used to have a real identity with peak-Ralfball, that crazy high press that sometimes worked, sometimes didn't, but you couldn't question the effort or commitment. As for today, just wow.

Yep. It’s been said many times but it’s so true. In the early years under Ralph we had a true identity, you could tell, what the side were about. Hard work, run for each other, hunt in packs, make life difficult. At the back end of last season we’d lost lots of that, by the start of this season we’d lost about all of it.

Ralph out, Jones in, and he had about 6 or 7 weeks to get his ideas into the team and get them playing his way. Apart from some long ball rubbish there was still no identity. It only looked like getting worse, the players looked like they had no idea of how to play. So that was manager 2 gone.

Selles made a good start but it was too soon apparent that he, too, had no real idea of how to get this bunch of players to consistently perform. Today summed it up: no drive, no desire, just utterly limp all over the pitch.

Ah well. Championship here we come!

What's frustrating is that at various times De Zerbi, Emery and Hodgson were all available, all of whom have come in and turned the season around for their clubs.

Those fucking arseholes in recruitment have been mugging everyone off for years.

But you read that thread. People were talking about amazing signings. How we had put one over other clubs....found some magic formula..let’s be honest .. none of us have a clue!! 😆

Seems like only yesterday we we rated our pre-season transfer window 8.6 out of ten. How did we get it so wrong?

To be fair those fans who were saying nonsense like that didn't have a clue , we were signing kids for high prices and had failed to address two key positions (keeper and striker)

8/10 window ffs

We didn’t do well at all it was because there are so many shit teams and we still couldn’t muster a fight of it.

If he really thinks that, the sooner he fucks off with the rest of them the better and let’s get some proper players at this club.

Well, you can only rate players by what you see on the pitch, which is why supporters should never buy hype from club management or local journos.

What's a fucking farce

I hope Prowse doesn't fuck off to another club but not holding out much hope really.

They fucking deserve an angry pitch invasion. I suppose a flat, depressed and apathetic slow march out of the ground is fitting, really, given the protracted bleeding out we've suffered this season.

The problem with inflated egos and rich kids with toys - hello Ankersen - is that you need to surround yourself with 'yes' men to protect that fragile ego.  Men who are men threaten boys like Ankersen and, hence, would never be hired.

We've seen some awful performances this year, you could probably name at least 10 at home alone - but that for me ranks at the top now, it was so bad. We were down before obviously, but all we want as fans is some fight, some heart, some bravery on the ball. That was so far away from a football team today it was frightening.

We didn't know what to do with it when we had it, we didn't know what to do when we didn't have it. A rudderless shambles of a mess, uninterested and non-motivated players and they have embarrassed this club and the entire city with their efforts.

You can excuse a lack of ability or a lack of talent, but it's the lack of effort and desire from the 1st whistle I cannot accept. No one should accept that, not at any level of football. Bar 1 or 2 the lot of them need to go, put down some of them as they shouldn't be footballers - wrong career for a good cohort of this lot.

They really are the most dislikeable Saints team I've ever know, not fit to wear the shirt

This should be pinned up outside Staplewood for the players to drive past every day,

Completely agree, they should be embarrassed to show their faces not doing a lap of the pitch.

It's as if they are trying to put off anyone from wanting to renew their season ticket

With you on that. That and Bournemouth for me. Utterly pathetic group of wet losers. No guts. No urgency. Literally sticking two fingers up to everyone with those kind of performances.

Horrid club. Horrid players. Horrid manager. Truly horrid.

It's almost impossible to know where to start.Every single player accepted relegation weeks ago and it just shows the rotten side of football players and the massive salaries they receive, the attitude just stinks, they don't give a flying one about the club or the fans, why would they care? As long as the 50 grand a week hits the account from the club that's all that matters and if We're relegated I'll get my agent to find me another mug club to keep the 50 grand a week hitting the account and hopefully a bit more.

And who lead that? JWP. Good loyal guy and all that, but he is a key component of the leaderless mess we've seen this year. (And since he's been captain tbf).

He's the beating heart of the club.

Apparently.

True but all squads in the PL are full of those, there has to be a strong culture of hard work, footballing identity and good management/coaching at the club and that’s where we’ve seriously failed, along with comedy scouting and smart arsed shitty decision making

Yeah players like him are the reason I’m glad to be getting out of this league.

Refused to go to Denmark and play while we crashed out of Europe. Fuck him and his faux sadness.

I keep thinking a game couldn't sum up the state of Saints more than anything else and then we play the next game and stoop to new lows.  An absolutely horrendous season in which the only people that will really suffer are the employees of the club that will be made redundant because of the awful decision making at board level and lack of effort at a playing level.

I keep thinking we'll do alright in the Championship but then I remember who the clowns are that will make the decision about our next manager.

At least Saints made headline news on the BBC !

Wasn't the last time one of the 9-0s? Fuck me we fans have been beaten the shit out of by our club the last few years. Absolutely rotten from top to bottom. All starts at the board level.

Semmens will come out with some shit about how 'we did well to stay in the Premier League for so long, for a club of our size it was always an almost impossible task'.

‘We gave it everything’ - Kyle Walker Peters. Did you fuck, mate. Piss off.
JWP says standards had slipped from day one of pre season. Why have you only said this now? What sort of captain does that? A shit one. Hope they all have terrible careers elsewhere. Except Lavia. Who is immense.

Players on Saints who are, at present:

Able to Contribute to a Decent PL side:

McCarthy, Perraud, Bednarek, Stephens, Livramento, Lyanko, Lavia, JWP, Smallbone, Stuart Armstrong, Alcarez

Possibly:

Bree (runs well and has the physicality, too small a sample size)

Adam Armstrong (he's never played in a squad that could pass or would feed him a ball, so his movement has been wasted)

Aribo (I rate him - his style isn't crash/bang and he plays with idiots, and for idiots, so jury remains out)

Marginal/Borderline:

Caleta-Car (slow of foot)

Salisu (not on this year's performance),

Moe (did a ton of work defensively, but plays a position that demands production and doesn't produce, goals or assists),

Tella (hasn't shown that he can do it at this level)

Not Fit for PL:

Bazunu (can't use his feet in shot-blocking - big hole in game for a keeper, and, IMNSHO, means he will likely never be good enough for this level)

KWP (too slight a frame and little interest in defending, no end-product going forward),

Adams (big and flat-footed, poor balance, can't shield the ball properly, is, as a poster on here noted, not alone on Saints in being unintelligent, always offside - tries hard, but was never going to be a PL player due to his physique if nothing else - RH chose him over the likes of Watkins - RH can't judge talent),

Walcott (dumb as a plank, can't pass, has no poise - absolute garbage footballer)

Djenepo (another RH 'find' - circus act who can't stand up properly - has improved, but so what?)

Sulemana (remember, 1 goal and 1 assist in last 37 French top-flight matches - only an absolute genius like Ankersen could recruit him for a record fee - runs fast, big deal, everyone in PL runs fast, has little technical ability and is dumber than a plank - for this signing alone, Solak should cashier Ankersen and quickly)

Onuachu (another one where one look at his physique tells you he is not PL material - too slow in his movements, so will always be quickly closed down and dispossessed, will never have the time needed in PL to suit his ability, and, as noted, is no great leaper, so only marginal at winning balls in the air, regardless of his height)

Diallo (too stupid for PL.  full stop)

ABK (like Salisu, he thinks he's the finished product but is not - his play on Monday against the Forest winger, where he injured himself, was farcical, whether from arrogance or stupidity, but you'd blast a Sunday league player for taking that line against a guy he knew had speed, crap at defending in the box, and in love with the idea that he is a great passer - hint a cross-field pass to Walcott, or indeed any pass to Walcott, is a wasted pass)

AMN (sometimes looks like a contributor, most times like a fool - not smart enough often enough, enigma that is a liability)

Future?:

Mara (talent but lacks bottle - we'll see)

Edozie (too young, needs to learn when to pass, when to dribble, needs more muscle - we'll see)

Larios (too small a sample size but looks to have promise)

Who'd I forget?

from the 30-man carousel...

A shit show of a season with a single highlight (double vs Chelsea)

Glad our fate is finally and officially sealed as we need time to prepare for a tough season in the championship.
Unsure if the executive have it in them to properly reset the club .
It's going to take a hell of a lot of work.
