We’ll never know if that would have been the case or not but if it’s true and we didn’t pick McCarthy due to how his contract is structured it just shows how completely and utterly inept this club is. Dropping GB may well have meant we’d have stayed in the league and thus would have paid for McCarthy’s salary many times over. Instead we’re about to take a £100M hit. 1
