Commitment is one of many big issues this season. Was it a shop window performance against Arsenal? Or has Selles finally shown the players the league table? I think we’ll find out on Thursday if we’re really in this relegation fight or we may as well get the deck chairs out.

If we play like we did last night, we'll start picking up more points.

I don't see a route to us staying up if we don't win this game. We have to win. It's as simple as that. Nothing else will do.

Unfortunately expect this to be more like the Crystal palace game than the Arsenal one.

If Bournemouth win at home against West Ham this weekend the pressure will be off them.

Anyone know if their fans are planning a bucket collection before the game? Give generously , Save the Cherries

It's a bit late to "start picking up points".

We are going down because you don't stay up off the back of pull-out-all-the-stops gut-busting hard fought draws and noble defeats against the Champions League clubs.

We usually do pretty well against Bournemouth but even winning it won't be enough. We're down because we flatter to deceive against the big clubs then shit the bed against the bottom half clubs.

But we won't because we have been crap in every single winnable home game this season. Even the win vs Leicester was lucky.

2-1 away win.

Exactly this last night's result proved any hope is false hope as we just don't seem capable of keeping any kind of a lead in a game, selles was determined to shoot us in the foot with his subs and defensive first tactics

That's a good shout with decent balance so that won't occur to Selles. It'll be something really clever and clueless as usual.

Flatter to deceive against the big clubs?

Can you hear yourself speaking?

This season:

Beat Chelsea twice

Draw against Man U

Draw against Spurs

Draw twice vs Arsenal

Beat City in the cup

We’ve got the grand total of… 4 points against the top 10. Whoop de fcking do. Can you hear yourself speaking?

Not sure if it’s missed your gaze, but were rock bottom of the premier league and going down.

Moving Alcaraz to play deeper would be a pretty dumb move considering he is our main fit goal threat.

Not that it really matters.

To stay up we will probably need to win 3 games in a row from now and thats not going to happen.

The spell under Jones killed us.

Now do six wins all season, twenty defeats and rock bottom.

Now do all the defeats against the teams around us.

Chelsea are currently bottom half anyway.

The cup tie meant nothing in the scheme of things, that's what flattering to deceive means.

And yet we're still relegated, so those results were utterly pointless and worthless.

Forest, Palace, Wolves, Leeds - those were the games and we weren't good enough.

No good turning up for the glamour ties if you can't do it when the expectations are higher, doesn't show well for the character of the squad if I'm honest. Probably quite easy to raise your game on TV against top of the league, bit of a showpiece for you to put to other clubs, but the same isn't true for Palace at home where they throw it away - regularly.

So did replacing him with Selles

Last night's performance means nothing if we don't continue it. Win this game and we still have an outside chance, albeit relying on the teams around us having utterly horrendous results.

Yeah, 15 more points should be more than enough 😆

One of the reasons last night didn’t hurt more despite a result I’d have taken before the match is the fact I have zero faith in this side to follow it up in a game against a lesser team, the real games that matter.

Feel like Selles will set us up to not lose rather than to win, and we’ll likely fuck it up.

We won’t win. We’ll either get a stuttering draw or it’ll be another Palace-esque performance from us.

We’re not a consistently decent side. Bournemouth have a lot more fight and a stronger mentality than us.

If we beat Bournemouth, Fulham, Forest & one of Brighton, Newcastle or Liverpool, we’ll be right in with a chance. We won’t of course.

We’ll win, just because it’s Bournemouth and they usually choke their big day out.

We will also still get relegated.

A game after a decent result against one of the top sides? Nailed on lacklustre performance and defeat.

I agree, just so Saintsy

You would think we'd go hell for leather, goals goals goals. But we won't, we'll tippy tappy it around at the back hoping we can stop them from scoring. How many times have we seen that gameplan this season, how many times has it failed?  Another must win game which we won't win.

Well at least it's quite simple, repeat the Arse performance over the next 6 games and maybe we could squeak it.

Can't see it through and TBH we can have no complaints about where we are.

Yes, it won't require anywhere near 39points.... Its going to be 33-34, maybe 35 at most. If we had beaten arsenal i actually think we'd have done it. Feels like we're at best destined to have hope but fall short this season.

Wins vs Bournemouth (H), Forest(a), and Fulham (H) will see us to 33. We'd then need to get a couple of points out of Newcastle (A), Brighton (A), or Liverpool (H)....

But if we don't beat Bournemouth we're gone regardless imo.

Theo was excellent against Arsenal and scored a goal so clearly he’ll be dropped along with Alcarez with the cunning ploy of bringing them on at 75 minutes when we’re two down so we can win 3-2

This doesn’t make sense.

You’re saying win 3 and get a couple of more points and we could stay up, but if Bournemouth aren’t one of the 3 but Brighton , Newcastle or Liverpool are, we’re gone  “regardless “.

We've won 6 all season and now you want us to win 4 from 7……………………….🤩

Preferable to ‘Bompey’ , surely ?

Should be a mandatory ban from Saintsweb for anyone using that nickname.

Same with Wet Spam and all the other frankly side splitting versions of teams names that people consciously type out for some reason.

Use it all the time on radio solent when referring to them. Don't get why it's such a big problem.

I beg your pardon.

I think it’s only ever used by the fans themselves.
