Yes, fair enough - perhaps what I should have said was that  even with the lifeline Potter has given him, he likely won’t start many Prem games in the future.  It will be interesting to see what happens with him in the summer.   My broader point is one of admiration of JWP.  He has maximised his earning power; his premier league appearances; England representation (senior and age level) through technical skills, graft and hard work, rather than athleticism or silky skills.    Some credit to Ralph who kickstarted a stalling career.

I really like JWP. Every team, especially Saints, need a hardworking midfielder. He would make a big difference in our team- though he can't do everyything on his own!!! His experience and know how, fitness etc would be great. If he came back, I'd expect him to be a leader, by example. Sadly, I suspect he won't be reurning as he'll remain in the premier league and we probably can't afford his wages and a fee in excess of £25million.

Heisno doubt a hard worker but he is typical product of ourclub in themidfield area, runs around a lot, doesnt make a killer passand has no physiche or pace.

Even the Arsenal keeper outpaced him over 50 yards lol. He has done well earning 100k pw by looking decent in a poor Saints team, he left at the first opportunity, like Ings and all the other arses who we believe love the club but we weak minded fools fall for it time and agian. That includes me,

He’d be first on the team sheet but no chance even if West Ham funded half of the wages. Potter is using him more and I suspect he’ll feature in their squads over the next 18 months. Good luck to him and I hope he regains his place there going forward.

Where is this idea coming from that all goalkeepers must definitely be very slow? It’s not 1973 any more, keepers aren’t just the fat kid who was too crap to play outfield at school. Raya is a 29 year old, 6ft professional athlete on one of the toughest fitness and diet regimes in professional sport and unlike JWP hasn’t spent the whole game tirelessly chasing around in midfield.

But regardless, we know JWP's weaknesses and a number of them were highlighted in that clip which showed him being bested by a player whose job is to save things.

But he wasn’t ’bested’, was he? Of all his teammates JWP was the first there by a long way.

Only because he had a 10 yard head start. He was “running” with the hand break on…

Always  been over rated by some on here , he’s out sprinter by a keeper, who then does a little trick to deceive him, before winning the slide tackle and knocking it up the line. He couldn’t even foul him properly…..😂😂😂

The only thing that needs saying is where JWP is sprinting back to fight to get WHU over the line in the final minutes of a tough away game, you can rest assured then none of the lazy entitled cunts that play for us would break sweat to bother to do that. 

JWP would out run the fucking lot of them because they wouldn't bother.

Well he was by the bloke in yellow.  He was also further out and had less distance to run than the others including the bloke in yellow who actually overtook him by a margin and then slowed down to back heel it before JWP threw himself at him.

 

By your phrasing, everyone else in the stadium would have to be included but patently the competition was between the two who ultimately went for the ball, not the others on the pitch so yes, he was 'bested'.

I could agree with you but then we’d both be wrong.

It all depends on what the respective players’ aims are.
