You never hear him slated at England games because we are all aware that he's more or less the only person who always gives 100% and understands what playing for England actually means. He's shown the rest up for the ignorant, money grabbing bast*ds that they are. A genuine legend IMHO.

hypochondriac Posted 26 January, 2009 Share Posted 26 January, 2009 A legend. Always tries his best and has great spirit. People then slag him off and want him nowhere near the England team. I would play him every game if I could.
Andy_Porter Posted 26 January, 2009 Share Posted 26 January, 2009 Hopefully he will stay at Milan, he's too good for that mickey mouse league. If that AC Milan squad where all 5 years younger they would be like a world best XI.
hypochondriac Posted 26 January, 2009 Share Posted 26 January, 2009 It makes me laugh when he moves to places like AC Milan And Real Madrid. People laughed and said it was a PR stunt. Time and again he has proved them wrong.

Barney Trubble Posted 26 January, 2009 Share Posted 26 January, 2009 An absolute legend. I don't quite see how he has his detractors as he gives 100% in most games and still has more ability than some of the current England squad.

skintsaint Posted 27 January, 2009 Share Posted 27 January, 2009 least it means if he is playing well for AC then he should replace Shaun Wright-run fast and fall over-Phillips.

Ash Posted 27 January, 2009 Share Posted 27 January, 2009 I'll agree he gives his all and is talented but the ONLY problem Beckham had playing for England at the last world cup was his lack of positional discipline. It was probably because he wanted to see more of the ball but he constantly came into the middle to pick the ball up and distribute it, which would be fine but it meant we were essentially playing with nobody on the right wing which meant teams doubled up on poor old Gaz Neville. Also, when going forward he came into the middle which lost us a lot of width, much the same way the Mcgoldrick or Lallana does for Saints at the minute. Also, his wife is a munt monkey. Man Utd Real Madrid LA Galaxy AC Milan Hmmm...something is not right there.. proper england legend IMO decent goal. and judging by the way nearly every player ran over to congratulate him leads you to think how popular he is. its not as tho it was a winning goal in the last seconds, they were a comforatable 3-1 in front, so seems his peers are appreciative of his skillz

Evil Monkey Posted 28 January, 2009 Share Posted 28 January, 2009 I've often wondered, are commentators in England the only ones in the world who dont report a goal by simply shouting "GOOOOOL" until they restart?
CB Fry Posted 28 January, 2009 Share Posted 28 January, 2009 (edited) Might be worth starting a list of players at one time the media (and some of the fanbase) had decided were much, much better than that washed up Beckham primadonna who should never play for England again.... Aaron Lennon, anyone? Shaun Wright Phillips? Kieron Dyer? David Bentley? Must be a few others I'm missing... Beckham is an absolute legend who will only be truly admired in a decade's time when England are lumbered with the arrogant baby bentley tw ats coming through the ranks now. Edited 28 January, 2009 by CB Fry Typing "Baby Bentley" made me remember David Bentley.
Colinjb Posted 28 January, 2009 Share Posted 28 January, 2009 A pretty good one as well: http://www.101greatgoals.com/videodisplay/2021939/ That is an utter beauty. It would be a travesty to football if he stayed at L.A. Galaxy.
Thedelldays Posted 28 January, 2009 Author Share Posted 28 January, 2009 bentley likes to gob off about being his "natural replacement"... capello clearly likes theo out there as his pace alone gives us a completely different dimension...keeps the opposition back line alot further back..allowing more space for the midfielders to get into the game... lets hope theo gets back to what he was showing before his injury.. as for beckham..he is still world class..and it is quite embarassing that he was dropped...he is a "bigger" player than all the others for england yet is by far the best pro and shows his passion for england, despite who he is and what he has... capello clearly is not daft and will keep becks in the picture as long as he is doing the business at a good level..and the italian game would (and clearly does) suit him right now. TopGun Posted 28 January, 2009 Share Posted 28 January, 2009 (edited) I tend to agree with everything said. Beckham has had a few minor prat moments like most footballers in the limelight but seems to understand the real score with his footballing responsibilities. I can even ignore his penchant for massive tattoos as they don't affect his professional attitude. I guess he must have had a wobbly moment inspired by Posh for Alex Ferguson to give him the flick but may be that helped him. Andy_Porter Posted 28 January, 2009 Share Posted 28 January, 2009 He really needs to stay with Milan and help guide them back in to the champions league. Playing for a club like Milan I reckon he could hold out for another couple of seasons at the highest level.

Playing for a club like Milan I reckon he could hold out for another couple of seasons at the highest level. Totally agree. I always thought he bottled it going to L.A. when he could have come back to the premiership for a club like Newcastle. If he can end up at Milan via L.A. though then job well done. He would be a key player for so many team, and according to medical tests he could play at the highest level until he is 38. Milan have to find a way, they have to. hamster Posted 28 January, 2009 Share Posted 28 January, 2009 I also believe that he deserves better from his England team-mates, if they had half the talent he has, we would have won so much more. As I said, people do not fully appreciate genius until it has passed. And IMHO Fergie did Becks a massive favour letting him go when he did. Also, much as the media (and us to some degree) slate Victoria, she is without doubt the rock behind the man. I like her. Note - I received Beckham (the fragrance) for Christmas, Brut it isn't.
