Fitzhugh Fella Posted 22 March, 2023 Posted 22 March, 2023 Norwegian newspapers are reporting the passing of ex Saints captain Tony Knapp. https://www.saintsplayers.co.uk/player/tony-knapp/
Shropshire Saint Posted 22 March, 2023 Posted 22 March, 2023 A key member (and captain) of our 1965/6 promotion season. In a game against Wolves he scored an early own goal. The expression on his face ( he was right in front of me in the Milton Road) was of absolute horror. He needn't have worried - we won the match 9-3. RIP Tony. 8

Tom & Gerry Posted 24 March, 2023 Posted 24 March, 2023 His signing was seen as a real show of ambition at the time. The fee was much higher than we had paid before (Can't remember exactly) and it caused some excitement, a major step towards promotion to the top league for the first time. 2
