Have spoken to a few Portsmouth supporters who begrudgingly are adamant that Dyer was mustard against them, well surely we should seriously consider bringing him back?

what happened to

"I will drive him to sheffield myself" posts that were ten-a-penny on here..?

He's now our saviour somehow...

Thought he was sh:t when i saw him play for us at the start of the season...

However it was always my hope that going out on loan would give him some confidence to our benefit as it did when he went to Burnley on loan. And that is still my hope...

Pompey was only one game however...

I've always rated him and thought he had the potential to be a decent player. Like alot of young players he was inconsistant but was playing well last season before his injury.

He's miles better than Ryan Smith and i'd like to see him return.

One game, yes, but he looked really good. If he can reproduce that form regularly, we should want him back. Sadly, it will be said we have a few players to play right midfield. Although he was playing behind the main striker on Saturday, and looked good in that role.

Who are these right side players? only one's i can think of are;

Smith - poor Millwall reserve.

Lallana - not his best position.

BWP - Not a winger.

I once saw Neil McCann be MOTM. True story. Not saying we couldn't do with Dyer back, but I don't think he should be awarded God-like status based on one good game against what is in all honnesty a poor Pompey side.

Crap response?

Pompey are much better than most of the opposition that we have consistently failed against.

It's time to forgive and forget , because Dyer is streets ahead of our players in skill terms. He just needed a decent coach and strong direction. Like Walcott used to get from Quashie.

Our youngsters have really suffered because they are not playing alongside older, experienced players to mentor them. Perhaps Wotte can bring the best out of Dyer. He has an awful long way to go before he is awarded Godlike status, sure. But it could be a new start. We certainly need Dyer back now. Against Swansea.

Don't like him , don't rate him . If Swansea (or anybody else for that matter) make an offer for Dyer in the summer take the money and run I say .

Don't let your prejudice against Dyer cloud your judgement. As the other thread says, crap knee-jerk judgement from our fans has seen our best players leave (and do well elsewhere).

Yes, Pompey are in general better than most CCC teams. Against Swansea however they weren't. If they carry on playing like that and like they did against West Ham a few weeks back, they will go down.

I remember Bart had a good game against Newcastle in the Cup a few years ago. Having a good game against a Prem team doesn't make you a good player on its own.

Don't get me wrong, we could do with Dyer back, but he isn't the class above most of us seem to think he is. He had a good 2 month spell at the start of last season before he got injured. Since then he has really done bugger all up until the Swansea - Pompey game. Inneffective at the end of last season, no end product at the start of this season and spent a lot of time getting splinters in his a*se in Sheffield.

Like who?

Yes Delap has gone on to do well for Stoke, but his career went completely stagnent here and he looked like he couldn't be a*se half the time.

For every Delap there are 10 Powells, Wrights, Ormerods, Pruttons, Kentons, Hajtos, IIs and Blayneys.

Again, I'm not saying Dyer SHOULD be criticised, but I do not think he is immune from criticism based on his form for us.

I have never said that he shouldn't be immune from criticism. We have been giving good opportunities for many mediochre players in recent years, especially this season. Dyer isn't mediochre by a long shot. He could do a better job for us than many. (Now that isn't going over the top is it).

I would argue he has been mediocre in general this season. At the start of the season people were calling him a waste of space, saying Thomson should play instead and wondering why we offered him a contract in the first place.

If a Prem team comes in and offers £2m to take him off our hands in the summer, I will admit I was wrong.

I was at the Swansea v Preston match this evening and a very good Swansea performance (very very good actually), Dyer was named man of the match again. He seemed to get the crowd pretty excited everytime he got the ball and helped set up a couple of Swansea's goals.

Still not a finished product though...he became a bit predictable towards the end of the match and ran into dead ends a lot of the time.
