Looks bloody good, did we try to buy or loan him like Brighton did? Think Brighton bid £40 mil but can see Chelsea playing him now Koulibaly has gone.

I’m not sure but I remember a few links to him. Looked absolutely class, Chelsea would be mad to sell him but he needs to play every week

I think we were trying to get him (maybe on loan) when we got Tino? Sholing lad apparently so was right under clubs noses at one point!

Still wondering if we go back in for delap now.
whilst he didn’t really do much on his loans last season he was one of the highest rated city youngsters even more then Lavia and has all the physical attributes ..

could be an interesting one now his value should of dropped right down

from what I read on the stoke forum their creativity was non existent and he wasn’t getting chances (sound familiar ?)

26 days till the season starts. Plenty of time left.. Right?

Reality is that in the first few games players will start who are later sold.

As always most transfers happen in the last few weeks of the window and as a Championship team that will leave us open to losing good players.

But also means we should have a strong side for the first few even if we havent made many signings.

The squad that goes on the Goztepe trip, and specifically who doesn't, will be interesting...

What? Alcaraz is leaving?

Be interesting to see what we end up with in the GK department.

I reckon Baz, Lis, McNamara.

Surely McCarthy won't put up with being a backup at this level?

‘Putting up with’ wont come into it, unless there’s someone out there willing to match his wages. For a mediocre, Championship keeper I’d say that’s fairly unlikely.

Wilcox out! How the hell have Ipswich signed a goalie from City before we've had a chance to be linked?!

Cieran Slicker: Ipswich Town sign Manchester City keeper for undisclosed fee - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/66142955

Apparently his brothers Richard and Ryan are a right pair of R Slickers.

Still sticking to my original prediction that nobody will pay what we want but come the end of August someone may get desperate if they've had a bad start to the season. We just need to hold firm.

CHINNY RECKON!

Really starting to think we might keep jwp now ..if it’s only the likes of Fulham who come in for him it’s not really worth the move for him ..we could be trading places and them going down whilst we get promoted

It would be incredibly cruel to have jwp start with us as our captain in the championship and then lose him after a couple of games. I think they would want to be more definite than that.

It's not often these days you see a Chinny Reckon.

They're about as rare as a decent Saints signing

I truly hate our best players going to Liverpool - it's irrational I know, but nevertheless they've pillaged our squad too much in the past thanks to Reed and Co who must have had a 'special' relationship with them.  And they're an entitled bunch of ****s too.  You'd think Lavia would have higher aspirations.  If it were my decision it would be £60m and a sell-on fee clause of 20% - fook 'em.

What, than to play for one of the biggest clubs in world football, under one of the elite managers'?

Yes, £50m to Arsenal, £60m to them.

No Adam Hamill type cast offs in pt exchange either.

He could play for any of the top six in the EPL, then there's Madrid, Barcelona, Borussia M, PSV, etc. etc. - why Liverpool?

"press resistant"

New buzz word for the season then

Press resistance has been a tangible way to describe midfielders capable of emerging from tight spaces with the ball for ages

What rock have you been under ?

Come on, I may not particularly like their club, and their constantly whinging fans, but you can’t knock their achievements over the years and attraction to players.

PSV - assume you mean PSG. What is their success record outside of their domestic league ?

Yes I’d prefer him to go to Real or Barcelona than Liverpool but if they or Arsenal stump up what we want I don’t really give two monkeys. Bloke was never going to stay with us, let’s move on, spend it wisely (for a change).

Danger is we get a piss poor offer, and after his Costa with Klopp he goes on a sulk to force a move.

So £50m will do nicely. And make sure of a healthy % sell on for when he does go to Spain.

Put a Man City top and a pair of gloves on a rabbit and we would pay £10m for him.

Especially as City insist on a buy back and sell on clause …

Barcelona can’t afford him, Real don’t need him, Bayern is possibly a mix of the two, PSG are getting Ugarte.. that only really leaves Chelsea, Utd, Liverpool or Arsenal

I thought it was just called keeping hold of the ball?! Was Big Vic therefore our best ‘press resistant’ player?! No one could get the ball off him

Not really no, press resistance is generally players with decent strength and dribbling, or effectively enough to avoid the press and get the ball away without losing it, so the likes of Pogba, Verratti, Lavia etc

I loved Wanyama but he was effectively just a bully

To be fair, I couldn't think of any other reason we'd extend the contract of Caballero for another year. (As had been reported at the end of June)

No, they’ve paid us an enormous amount of money for our best players, which any club could have done if they’d been willing to stump up the cash.

I don’t like Liverpool and all their gobby fans insisting they’re the most special club in Europe but as players go, I wouldn’t have cared whether we sold Virgil to them or Solihull Moors.

Suspect you’d have heard less about it from Solihull Moors fans had he gone there though.
