Another youth from Cheslsea huge stable of young talent, this one as a free with some good youth pedigree. An addition to the u21 with the hope he can make the grade without alot of money spent.

Will Poch have a soft spot for us and sell or loan some of that youthful talent they have stockpiled, he is wanting a bit more experience in the team. So alot of under 23 may need to move. Will Sheilds send a few our way, he may want to after the way he left us, maybe he helped with Abu?

We have been sniffing around city youth again as well, so no change to the stratagy of buying top clubs youth prospects.

This is going to become one of those tiresome things people say and assume will happen but rarely actually does. Not sure what a loan deal to Goztepe really does for any young players development if they have desires to be included in PL football. There’ll be better options out there. Very rare that dealings happen that way around I would suggest.

Chelsea say hello.

Regular minutes in a mens team, life experience etc etc makes them a better player potentially for us or a sister club or to sell than playing in the B team for a year.

Happens pretty often between City and their clubs, not saying we are in the same bracket as that, but if we aspire to be like them, its possible that Rasmus and co think its something they want to develop.

If/when Sport Republic own a top division club, especially when it’s in La Liga, I’d understand and expect that particular route to be explored. 2nd Division Turkish and French clubs I’m not sure would benefit any of our young players.

Didn't realise that Derrick Abu is 19. Seems a strange signing if there isn't even a chance he's involved in the first team at that age.

We seem to have a lot of right backs ahead of him in KWP, Livramento, Bree and Payne. Chelsea releases him, so he's hasn't been bought, so a low risk signing. Not sure where he fits in, but the club must see a role in the B team or near the first team.

One of the weirdest things I heard Semmens or Ankersen say was that we were signing players to fill out our B team squad. Surely you sign players for the first team and the ones they replace end up in the B team?

I think in Abu we are signing a youth team player that will start off in the B team and then we hope will progress into the first team. Might take a year, might just take the summer. The B team is not a B team, it's a youth team.

Yes. Once players have left, we can then fill the gaps instead of buying replacements for players who may stay.

We are probably resigned to losing Kyle Walker-Peters so Abu would be understudy to Livramento assuming he stays with us. Not sure about Bree, doubt he has much of a future here.

Even if Tino stays, it's probably wise to have a third RB in the squad with his recent injury record. I assume Abu will start for the B team and be in and around Martin's group and be given some opportunities in cup games etc.

Bree has three more years on his contract. Wonder if Luton might consider buying him back?

Id like to see more of him at championship level particularly if KWP goes. TIno and BRee as the RB options would be one position covered.

Bree is an odd one really, he was a very good player for Luton in the Championship, so realistically worst case we already have an able RB if KWP or Tino leave and maybe even if both leave

He played a lot at CB in a three for Luton didn’t he ? Maybe that’s where we’ll see him under Martin,

Was listening to tier2 podcast and the guys on there reckoned Bree was the best RB in champ until he moved to us. Wouldn’t write him off. Also looks a big lad who could possibly play in a 3 as someone pointed out above.

I didn’t think Bree looked out of place when he played v Wolves ( or perhaps it was that he wasn’t worse than the shit around him).

He seemed frozen out after that, but I think he’ll be okay for us if needed this season.

He looked OK when I watched him. Not exactly quick, but pretty neat and tidy on the ball and he whipped in one or two nice crosses. He also shanked one, which perhaps is why some think he is crap. It's hard to make a decent assessment as we've seen almost nothing of him except when struggling against a relentless Newcastle attack in the cup. With three or four (if you count Payne) right backs, someone will have to depart.

Yeah, he's 19 now - its a fine age for a player with potential - look at Tella who is about to turn 24.

King of the nutmeg.

Could this means bye bye for Tella or Sulemana? If we are seriously interested it also indicates that Martin really is going to change style to adapt to more dribbling / ball carrying - A marked change from his Swansea team.

Bree is the obvious one to stay. Decent championship RB. I can't see KWP wanting to stick around, although I suspect he won't have a massive list of suitors after last season.

Can see Brighton or West Ham coming in for him as a squad player given their European fixtures next season struggling outside of those apart from the promoted teams or a few strugglers

Could be but we're well stocked in the wide areas anyway.  We've got Djenepo and Edozie who are wingers and then Aribo, S Armstrong and A Armstrong who can play wide as well.  I'd expect some departures before we look at anyone who fits that kind of profile.

From my WBA supporting mate:

"Lots of potential but hasn't had a good season since 2019. Been average for us but defintely could improve with the right coaching and playing in a positive set up"

Just as Bale moved forward during his career, Chelsea youth coaches expected Tino to advance up to more attacking positions rather than RB.

Not another Nathan Redmond please!

Lyanco will delight the fans in Turkey.

Whilst it's all doom and gloom about our best players leaving I've just remembered a good jack grealish played a season in the championship.

There is always hope.

Tottenham tried getting him for £25m too.

Released by Besiktas after a season lol

Seems to have done pretty well. Talk of him coming back to the prem, but he might want to stay out there because he felt very appreciated, and will probably be a family decision.

Supposedly Besiktas have offered €4m for Lynaco whilst Saints want closer to €8m.

Would be amazed if they have actually offered a straight €4m fee for him. If so, surely rip their hand off for it. I had imagined he would end up leaving on loan so any kind of permanent deal would be good for us.

I had heard there was a chance we may be playing against him next season, as Birmingham had reached out

As of Birmingham could afford him, even if he did reduce his wages significantly 😂

I would imagine they could afford 15/20k quite easily tbh.

We were playing Lambert that 12 years ago, they also did well with money thanks to the Bellinghams.

Stick a nice sign on amount there and hes probably happy days, plus he'll be close to family too
