I say the following in the context of having never consciously watched Piroe nor being aware of him until his name appeared on here. But, I am a little concerned that he is being heralded as some kind of super striker that is going to get 20 goals and solve the all pervasive striker issues of the past few seasons. Surely we need more than just him even if he is any good??

Well he got 19 last year and 22 two years ago for an inferior Swansea team. I'd say if he comes in that it would be very likely that he gets at least 15+ assuming he stays fit.

Championship 21/22

Appearances: 45 / Goals: 22

Championship 22/23

Appearances: 43 / Goals: 19

The players he'll have around him here are a step up from Swansea. He seems to stay fit, is a good age and a natural finisher whether he is less 'mobile' or not

I’m not too concerned about this ‘mobility’ issue now raised. Same could easily be said of Lambert when he joined us, or Kane. Doesn’t seem to have hampered their progress and goalscoring.

We are also in desperate need of a talisman in this league. Piroe would give us that.

We desperately need a guy that gets in the right position, gets his body position right and just finishes the fucking thing. No excuses. A few from outside the box would be nice too.

Che walks on a free next season. Makes financial sense to sell him this summer and spend it on Piroe. We break even as apposed to needing to find £12-15m next season on another Piroe.

I guess you could keep Che and hope Pirie signs on a free next season.

I read Piroe perhaps wanted to go to Italy as a free agent next year Joel Piroe's Swansea City future explained and what could change everything by the end of the month - Wales Online

I would take that article with a pinch of salt.

If we offer him a big fat contract he probably won't say no. He will want to progress, earn more and move up. If he thinks we are better positioned than Swansea to do that he will jump at the move now rather than wait another year.

That said, how appealing we really are, I don't know.

How about.....Chelsea get Lavia for £50+m and then.....wait for it.....have so many midfield players, they loan him back to us for a season. Obviously my medication has just kicked in, but would that be a "Scouse Headfuck" or what?

I shouldn’t really have to say this but no one, not even Chelsea, buys a 50M player and immediately loans him out

You'd think Moyes would have a big say on the make up of his own squad. Sounds like it's out of his hands, which considering their summer signings seems strange (the types he wanted).

Could well be all to good to be true.

He's a childhood WHU fan, he probably doesn't really want to go anywhere.

He doesn't want to go, Moyes doesn't want him to go. How does this deal happen?

Strange. I thought the consensus was that the West Ham board and coaching staff rate Downes but Moyes didn't?

It's hard to know what to believe, but with Soucek not playing well many fans thought he should be playing more. Moyes stuck with tried and tested, as he so often does. Doesn't mean he doesn't rate Downes I guess, he just likes having Soucek offering that goal threat.

He’s not mad keen… but wants Prowsey. Prowsey has completed his medical today but no announcement expected until later with him aiming for training on Monday. I wonder if final details include ensuring Downes is all sorted? I hope it is all timed together to make sure he doesn’t get loaned elsewhere, of course, we only want players who want to be here though.

Because Moyes is just saving face publicly because he knows how the fans feel about it but ultimately, if we’re digging our heels in on Downes in order for them to get JWP, they have to play ball.

Ultimately it will be down to the player. If Palace are an option, he will likely take that. Not sure the JWP deal will fall through. This is why swap deals are rare. Too many moving parts.

The Martin pre-match comments tell me that both ABK and Sulemana will depart before this window closes.

Che looks likely. Nothing is certain, but you have to be realistic.

So, just KWP and Alcaraz left of those that I expected to have Prem interest.

Genk still interested in Onuachu, but they will want him at a bargain price. Not sure how it will work financially. His wages must be too high for them. Last day of window move I suspect.

Years loan on at least 50% wages best bet. Then hope he scores 20+ goals over there, then flog him.

Exactly - and it’ll will leave us having to deal with the unfortunate fallout when Flynn Downes tools.

I think Bednarek proved last season that you should always exercise caution with words that will always be analysed by fans at the loaning club and the loaned to club.

Listened and did not get that feeling at all, says he wants to get them on the pitch as they would help us a lot but then adds that ABK has interest but nothing concrete.

Spoke to a Palace fan at work yesterday and he didn't think they were actively looking at central midfield.  Ultimately Martin puts a lot of store in the character of the player and their ability to buy into "the project" so I'd imagine, given his history with the player, that he should already be aware of whether Downes wants to come here or not.  I'd be surprised if the deal has got as far as it apparently has if Downes doesn't fancy it.

Palace fan also reckoned the talk there was that Che's agent is working overtime trying to hawk him around clubs and get a move back to the prem.  In the case of Palace, they're not interested but explains all the recent links around Adams.

I wonder if Adams is one of the players Wilcox was referring to when he mentioned some players being nowhere near as good as they think they are? (paraphrased as I can’t recall the exact words)

A couple of big clubs? How disgraceful we should pull the JWP deal because of his disrespectful comments

I took it that he was bracketing us as a big club. But with all the ambiguity around that statement I think we should pull the deal also.

To be honest aside from the liverpool screw over I would prefer him to go to a manager who likes young players and will play him.

Him, Caicedo and Fernadez in the midfield for chelsea will be immense.

We’ve seem to have quite a good relationship with Chelsea aside from the Joe Shields debacle so hopefully we can extend our signings of youth team players beyond Man City.

I think he’d of played for either tbf

Id like to understand how Poch is going to fit Lavia, Caicedo and Enzo into a midfield trio tbh

Lavia and Caicedo are basically 6’s.. Caicedo could probably do a job as a more expressive 6, and Enzo is probably more of an 8.. but none of them are hugely expansive and I think Poch likes a 4231

Not that I really care.. Klopps getting done over, and Im here for it

Harry Kane gone to Bayern - official.

This year's premier League will be pretty good I think, Man City far better than everyone else, Luton and Sheff Utd will far worse, but most other clubs are fairly matched.

Chelsea should be strong with a very good manager and some good signings, Arsenal might struggle to live up to last year but will be good again. Man United improving under Ten Hag, Newcastle improving. City should win it again but the think it’ll be closer
