Ive wondered for a while if he is genuinely any better than Che.. I appreciate Che isn’t everyones cup of tea, but he knows the squad, has had a full pre season and is realistically a good striker at this level

Piroe however, also knows the system, knows RM and has scored plenty of goals in previous seasons

For me.. Piroe is there as an option if we lose Che, but not necessarily instead of.. I know Che is a gamble.. but any signing is really

FWIW Im not hugely concerned regarding pace at this level, 90% of the sides are going to be camped on the edge of their box anyway… its largely why I doubt AA will be able to use his main weapon effectively

Che walks on a free next season. Makes financial sense to sell him this summer and spend it on Piroe. We break even as apposed to needing to find £12-15m next season on another Piroe.

I guess you could keep Che and hope Pirie signs on a free next season.

Just been looking at Swansea fans forum. Their view on Piroe is that he has no pace and is poor in the air both offensively and defensively. Assuming they are right he's not what we need.

Rasiak had no pace and scored a few. There are probably better options but he's still around a 1 in 2 goalscorer in this league and that isn't to be sniffed at. Pace comes from Tella/Edozie/A-A and possibly Sulemana if he stays, we just need someone to be in the right place to put the ball in the net.

Put it this way, our strikers are Adams, AA, Onuachu and Mara. He has to be worth a punt surely?

Liverpool can waaaaaahhh all they want but they fucked around for weeks knowing the valuation so bollocks to them and their crybabying.

In past dealings with them, they have pretty much controlled the situation. They thought they could do the same this time and are now surprised they haven't been able to control things as they thought. In an ideal world, we would still be prem and not having to sell Lavia this season. Second best is this.

£55m feels like we've held out well on this one, he is one of the best young DM's in the world.

Given that there is a £40m re-sale which kicks in next summer, this makes sense. Hopefully a fair chunk up front.

£30m for JWP, £32m for Tino and £50m for Lavia - over £100m on just those 3. We've also sold Salisu for £15m

Orsic, DCC, Diallo, Ely, Theo off the wage bill.

I'd argue that there has never, ever been a more cash rich team in the Championship. We simply have to make this work, we have no excuses.

It was £27m for JWp, we see about half of the Tino money. 20% of the Lavia money goes to City. Salisu was about £13m. Still a very tidy return.

Keep in mind that we spent £130m without any return, so let's not get imagine we have a huge wedge burning a hole in our pocket.

I agree we need to sign the right replacements now and get this promotion bus on the road.

Absolutely, the scouting has to be totally on point. We can't waste this opportunity like we pissed the VVD fortune up the wall.

And we did an even better job of pissing the SR funding up the wall too. My concern is that SR will see these revenues as just balancing out what they've put in.

£50+ million for Lavia truly is insane.

We're pretty much getting double parachute payments this summer off the back of these sales.

Well done Saints

£32ish for Tino after Chelsea cut, £30m for JWP, £45m for lavia after city’s cut, £15m Salisu, serious, serious cash. We should be able to build an amazing championship squad spending just 1/3 of that

We need to invest in the playing squad. If we don't, promotion is a no-go. Up to SR. It was their fuck ups in appointment making that sent us down to this level, it's up to them to sort it out.

So the £55m is a bluff to get Liverpool to remove their bid for Caicedo and buy Lavia... #mindgames

You've got to imagine that this is going to be such a head fuck for Lavia. He's only a kid, he's being pulled all over the place.

The way Chelsea do business is horrible, they've always done it - buy players to stop the oppo getting them, then let them rot away out on loan for years to come.

I know the counter argument, but this is why buying young talent is better than middle of the road types when you get it right.

Oh for sure, I know I was only talking up the headline figures - but still, for a Championship club this is huge, huge money - unprecedented for this level.

The problem we have is that there are only a couple of weeks to go, and selling clubs know we have stacks of cash burning a hole in the back of our sofa.

The livramento deal was £30m rising to £40m. I don't think we will see £32m of that final figure, should it ever be achieved. Chelsea take nearly 50% don't they?

I don’t understand this narrative.. if any of our owners were in line to be potential asset strippers it would be Gao

Where in any way has SR given anybody a reason to believe they’re just going to pocket the money ?

You don't have to spend much in this league. Bamba £1m for example would have been great. Strikers like Collins £4m, Piroe £12m, Akpom £8m...

No one has any money to spend. We just need to pick the right ones.

The sell on clause percentage was renegotiated last week between saints and Chelsea which saw Chelsea get a smaller cut. Makes you wonder if this Lavia shenanigans has anything to do with that.

They will see that, but they will also see the value of getting us promoted straight away by spending a little. They will be desperate to get promoted. The value of the club trebles overnight if we do. If we don't, you end up bleeding money.

I saw that, but firstly it could be bollocks and secondly it could be a percent less. Who knows. One things for sure, Chelsea ain't gut any reason to just give us money.

Unlike us, he'll know what's really happening. Who really wants him, what bids are genuine...I wouldn't worry. He'll be completely calm, and excited on a move to one of the biggest clubs.

Maybe reduced Tino's sell on and increased Simeu's. Well Chelsea are a club that do stupid things sometimes. 😊

Pkus he gets to play football for a living. How does it mess with your head? Just play 100% whenever you are on the pitch.

Apparently Boscombe have bid 13 million for Che - bite their hand off.

Personally I'd like him to stay but with a year left on his contract then yeah it's a no brainer, especially if we want to bring a new striker in, and AA, Mara and Onuachu may be more difficult to shift.

Bit random but I was talking about tomorrows game with a Norwich supporting friend tonight who does a lot of work with the Norwich foundation. I mentioned a potential incoming from Swansea he has a few links at other clubs including Swansea so he said he'd ask if his Swansea contact had heard anything.

His contact at Swansea says he's 99% sure the player coming our way is Piroe not Grimes.

Not sure how in the know the person is or isn't but thought I'd pass info on.

No 'may be' about it. We might be able to loan Onuachi, paying some of his wages, but otherwise we will be stuck with him.

Makes sense to me. Che out, Piroe in. Downes is the better option in midfield should that move be possible.

I can't  see both Grimes and Downes coming in.  It would block smallbone, which is against our MO

That would definitely excite a few fans.

Have to keep an eye on Swansea tomorrow.

I say the following in the context of having never consciously watched Piroe nor being aware of him until his name appeared on here. But, I am a little concerned that he is being heralded as some kind of super striker that is going to get 20 goals and solve the all pervasive striker issues of the past few seasons. Surely we need more than just him even if he is any good??
