Doesn’t matter what I think but 30-35m is about right in the market.

What is he worth to fans and club? Immeasurable I guess as kids love him and talisman.

There are times he does my head in and lack of pace loses a pass he should win. Has happened on both pre season games I have seen.

Its last season we will get any real money for him and we don’t have players to play Martins way.

What makes you think we don’t have the players to play Martins way ? Its felt like we’re pretty much there in preseason

We need a striker, thats whats stuck for me.. but as for the midfielders, its felt like they’ve adapted well

If only they'd bought you into the negotiations sooner there would be a resolution by now!

Prowsey needs to be careful with this deal - Sounds like the club (i.e senior figures) aren't too sold on him and this is being driven by Moyes.

He could easily fall out of favour when Moyes is sacked come December and they get some extravagant European name in, who wants technical skill rather than 'a good engine'

I think he is probably worth more to Saints Fans than to West Ham otherwise he would probably be there now .

I agree if the club want to get real money for him they need to sell him now.

I will be interesting to see what happens

I realise its not my money but Id rather we didnt sell JWP to these london wan**** and tell him if we do fail to go up this season then we will let him go to whatever club he wants who offer say 20m next summer.

Why would we need to compromise ourselves with any of that. JWP has a contract with Saints, if someone wants to buy that out they’ll have to pay what we’re asking. I couldn’t care less if that’s West Ham, Pompey or Slovan Liberec.

So... Jack Stephens played regularly in a Premier League team that didn't come close to being relegated last year and yet some think he's not good enough to play for a Championship team this year despite being experienced, tenacious, vocal and loyal to SFC for many years having joined from Plymouth as a youth.

I know there's better out there but he ticks a lot of the right boxes. He's what we need other than he's called Jack Stephens.

They left it late.

True and I agree really but I think JWP deserves to play in the PL so if he wants to go next season if we fail to go up then I'd let him. Hopefully he'll actually stay for the rest of his career.

Poor bloke looks absolutely devastated to be there

He’s also been given the No.11 shirt, and ABK is back training apparently

Obviously no problem taking his chance with the burgeoning ANC (Ankersen National Congress)

So much for fucking off 😆

Walked away to the bank to fetch a few more quid...

I reckon we'll get about £35 for him. £30 up front, £5 in achievable add-ons.

Would be a fair deal all round, imo.

I thought the narrative for Utd was to get a Keeper & a striker and use what ££'s are left for a midfielder.

With Amrabat (has worked with EtH before & is cheaper) as preferred option.

I still don't see him going anywhere else other than the Mersey W*nkers.

So in the space of 24-48 hours, they have gone from “£25m is our final offer, we’re walking away” to “£30m, that’s it, no more”, to “probably make another bid”

Glorious.

The spine of the team currently isn’t good enough for promotion playing that way. Goalkeeper, centre half and striker at moment short of what Martin wants to achieve

Ahem,  i really cannot let that comment pass.

JWP is Second only to Beckham and will overtake him if and when he next plays EPL in the list of all time goals from direct free kicks. Hitting a dead ball straight into the net despite the best efforts of the worlds best goalkeepers and worlds best defenders is a definitive measure of technical skill.

Just stop for a moment and reflect on that. Our Captain. Southampton FC. A World Class exponent of the ultimate technical skill. It rather suggests JWP has technical skill of the very highest level AS WELL AS a "good engine". I think he overtook Messi last year in the top five European leagues or was he only second behind him? I think his running and consecutive performance stats are better than "good" also..

In deference to the fact you are a long time poster I think you may have meant he is not a super fast runner or he cannot dribble much and inadvertently forgot. NOT having a go at you personally but its undeniable that JWP IS a genuinely world class football technician.

If he leaves there will be a VERY lucky club who gets him whatever the price.

The goalkeeper is fine

CB… maybe we need another but ABK + JB or JB + JS is probably good enough, agree Id like to see another

We almost certainly need a striker though agreed

But if GK gets injured do you think McCarthy can fill in I don’t. I can’t see ABK being here TBH

I wasn’t impressed by Charles at CH either.

Everton are looking into a loan move for Southampton attacker Kamaldeen Sulemana, according to Sky Sports.

Sure Neverton, nice little loan to help ya outta your ffp breach, beacause ya cant afford to buy anyone.....No no no

How about this:

Everton face legal action from Leicester, Leeds, Southampton and Burnley that could run into tens of millions of pounds if they lose their case for an alleged breach of the Premier League’s financial fair play rules, which the Guardian understands will be heard on 25 October.

I'd love to keep him but the only world class attribute he has is his free-kicks. Fact. Even his corners and free-kick deliveries are only good.

If the remaining dildo brother intends to spunk 35m on him, then all he needs to do is sell an extra one million £35 rubber cocks.

He obviously forgotten he’s just received 100+ big 1’s from the arse so he needs to start selling more rubber willies to wives that have husbands with small todgers

These additional comments made by West Ham attached to an official bid are probably just made up by 'journalists'.

Nice use of the Bold functionality!

CoT members are lead to believe that Neverton (hehe), will not be sued by any of the above clubs.

Re your edit I think the clubs actully preferred it closing  before the season started but for those in Europe it proved a disadvantage as clubs in other coutries could continue making signings for several more weeks.

Yeah I can agree with that, Bazunu is ok enough, his confidence worries me… McCarthy is terrible AND doesn’t fit the RM system unfortunately

Charles Id agree, he’s a CM not CB in my book

Also, From a marketing/news/TV standpoint, the Prem league probably wants to separate the first game of the season from the last day of the transfer window.

Pretty difficult to say that with confidence. We've not actually played any pre-season games against this year's level.

Benfica were domestic champs and Champions League QF
AZ Alkmaar were Europa League SF
Bournemouth are PL
Reading are in an absolute mess; they may have technically been Championship last year but their team this year with all the embargoes will struggle in L1

And if they're all doing preseason correctly, like we are, then the teams rotate a lot. I can't have been the only one who thought "WTF" to the starting lineup vs Bournemouth; no way does that lineup start in a competitive match.

We're also a club that's had a month to adapt to a complete overhaul of system. On the whole I think we already look better than the dross we saw last year.

Quite interesting to see ABK in training photos…can’t believe he’ll start on Friday, but almost certainly on the bench you’d think.

Any interest in Bednarek and Lyanco seems to have dissipated for the time being, but I reckon if the right offer came in for anyone of our CB’s they’d be off. I hope we’re not relying on Charles to start as a CB, even if that’s for a short period of time.

So do I. I think he’s perfect. Been with Saints a long time. Willing to do dirty stuff, shout square up etc but also defend and, latterly, reinvented as a ball playing CB ( well kind of but he’s trying). I think he’s a good fit for Captain if JWP moves on. ( which, I think he will unfortunately as I love him and he is a bona fide club legend in my eyes).

Some people have got short memories. He was generally fairly shit for us and no one was bothered when he left on loan. He's now being touted as potential captain material after a season of inconsistency with Bournemouth. We might have dropped a division but we still need to be aiming higher. Same goes for Bednarek, wasn't good enough then, isn't good enough now

RM has made this point a few times in the media and agree with him. Radio 5L mentioned this morning that Klopp was complaining (hard to believe, I know) that the window in the Saudi league downstairs close for 3 weeks after ours does. Mental.
