I still haven't seen any solid links to him. My guess is we will get some unknown from abroad or a youngster (probably from city.)

I'm not at all convinced we're interested in him - or maybe we've known all along that he's not interested in us. If we viewed Piroe as a major target, why would we piss off Swansea with all that haggling over Martin - and with not that much money at stake?

Could well be true. I think if we were seriously interested you'd have seen a few solid links by now.

Isn't Burnley one of the most racists places in the UK though? Wouldn't surprise me at all that they think that video is in someway clever or complimentary about tella 😅

They have just only realised they bought the wrong Nathan.

So no new keeper, no new CB, no experienced midfielder or central striker. Can’t believe we haven’t at least addressed the latter as it’s been a massive issue for the last two seasons. Some people seem to think Adam Armstrong is the answer forgetting how woeful he’s been. The results in preseason are indicative of where this team is presently at. Guess the terrible January transfer window is hampering efforts now to get people in but we desperately need a new striker ( and Gkp).

I think someone scammed you and sent some made up entry requirements… but um… good luck

Are you telling me there's no requirement to send £500 of Bitcoin to the username of Turk1sh to gain entry to the COT? It seemed so legit. Can't believe I've been scammed.

If it sounds too good to be true it probably is. You really expected to get all the latest info on saints in real time directly from a football forum legend for just £500? You deserve to be scammed

Do you accept Italian Lira? I've got loads, and your info must be worth thousands of them.

I was rather hoping such a forum legend would be able to come up with some new material during periods zero transfer news. So imagine my disappointment when we just see the same old tired comedy threads come out season after season.

I remember when Fab just told us things were done and they were. Now he just fuels the rumour mill with nothing updates like this. Still waiting for Gvardiol to city who he ‘here we goed’ some time ago.

Money talks…pretty sure the more tweets he does the more engagement and therefore the more money. More chat about bigger clubs hits a larger amount of users, therefore more money in his pocket…

And in a years time the very same journalist will be saying what an absolute steal Lavia was.  Anyway, seems like there's enough interest from other clubs so I'd be quite happy for Liverpool to walk away from the deal.

but that'll be after Klopp waves his magic wand and turns him into a world class player overnight like he did with Van Dijk and Mane the moment they joined.

Some transfer punter on Sky last night reckoned Chelsea will come in for him once Liverpool make their better offer (for some reason). He's going to be massive, and 50m is an absolute steal. The twats.

I can understand if someone wants to quibble over some of our other valuations, but Lavia is cheap at 50. Not a chance is he worth less. You can see how good he is by how many top clubs have been interested. The fact we were relegated is an irrelevance because we don't need to sell for financial reasons.

I think QPR will be the last chance to see JWP in a Saints shirt. He will salute the crowd and will deservedly get a standing ovation. And then he will join WHUFC and play one last season on the international stage that is Europe.m and the EPL. Before joining al hillal as the marquee EPL all time direct free kick goalscorer for a £10m sign on fee and double his wages.

I may be wrong but I think I saw his first goal ( Coventry away in an da cup match at the Ricoh a lifetime ago) and I hope to see his last too…

I hope the club ignore all this media claptrap re Lavia's valuation and stick to their guns.  Meet the valuation or F off (in fact that goes for all the clubs assets).

Lavia has the potential to be the complete midfielder IF he gets over the 'I've made it already attitude' that many of our kids seem to have.  I seriously see him in the middle of Real Madrid's midfielder in 5 years IF he knuckles down - he has the rare ability of looking like he has time on the ball even with the opposition crawling all over him.

Although i'm desperate for Saints to get the players in that will be the mainstay of our promotion push and not waste a month on wondering who we will lose or who we can hold onto before the transfer window shuts, I am delighted for the first time that i can remember that we are not bending over and then thanking the big boys for being so kind in buying our top talent for peanuts. If only the players had shown as much fight on the pitch last season!

I would imagine the board will read that and immediately reduce his price to £40m.

Another of Liverpool’s lemon journalists.

Luke Edwards normally covers Newcastle & is usually Amanda Stavely's mouthpiece.  So no idea why he's wading in on Lavia's value - It's probably subliminal messaging re: Tino.

It’s a good point. I wonder whether some people realise that every time someone clicks on a Romano link. The likes of him get paid  even better if you respond. People make a fortune if you like a YouTube post. Teenagers are making millions on Tik Tok

Haven't seen any evidence of this attitude from Lavia. Let's not throw around lazy stereotypes.

I can understand why you think it's a lazy stereotype because on the pitch there is no evidence of it.  He finds the game easy and is always up for the challenge.

Behind the scenes some at the club would like to see him take the 'secondary' elements of everyday work a little more seriously, and that does also apply to a few of the other younger players too, most of which don't have RL's very high abilities.

Just what I'm told.  Take it to leave it.  :0)

36 players have squad numbers. And although half a dozen are u21 players, you would expect the likes of Amo-Ameyaw, Doyle, Ballard, Dibling and Meghoma to see game time this season.

I'm sure Saints want to bring in 3 or 4 new faces, but the squad is absolutely massive as it is. 7 or 8 or even more need to leave to get it down to a manageable number.

Until there's more significant movement out, I wouldn't expect to see much in the way of incomings.

We've got a whole month to address things. Frankly, it might take the January window as well to get to grips with the mess last season's incompetent squad building has left us with.

Lavia and Salisu will go in the next few days. Livramento soon after. We're actively trying to get rid of Lyanco. Perraud doesn't look like he has a future here now Manning has arrived. Burnley will probably get Tella eventually. Ward-Prowse will find a suitor eventually. Onuachu is surplus to requirements. Adams has a year on his contract and isn't t signing an extension. And it'd be a surprise if no-one came in for Walker-Peters or Bella-Kotchap.

That's 11 realistic outgoings. After a slow start, the final month of the window could be a real churn.

Perhaps you’re right but if so it’s difficult to see us mounting a serious promotion push in the midst of all that churn and with a crap keeper to boot. Equally I’ve got little confidence that the people in charge will bring in good quality replacements. I’d have expected more by now really.

Does that mean we should be paying £30m for Piroe?

Possibly, if there was suitable evidence to demonstrate he was the right fit in the squad and could play the system employed. Value is about potential until proven.  In the case of Tella, he's proven he can score goals (which, in case you've forgotten 😉, wins games) within the squad and system Burnley employ, so his value should be commensurately higher.

Precisely this. Martin gave an interview 2-3 weeks ago and practically said as much, he said we’ve got a huge squad which is a problem and that some need to go, even training with a full squad is impractical due to its size. We’ve really not done much to address that so far: we’ve got rid of Orsic, Elyounoussi, Walcott, Diallo, AMN; but they’ve been replaced in number by Smallbone, Tella, Manning and Charles plus Amo-Ameyaw seems like he’s also now a first team squad fixture.

I think we all know that Lavia will go, Salisu looks like he’s out the door, and I still expect JWP will go. Then we still have all the wait and sees like Tino, KWP, Alcaraz, Onuachu, Sulemana, Adams, Bednarek, ABK, DCC, Lyanco, all of whom (individually) it wouldn’t surprise you if they left. Our squad is too big and so far we’ve done nothing to alleviate that.

Edit: here’s what Martin actually said.

"We have a huge squad. Just in terms of training numbers, it is really big.

“There are going to be days where we can't train with everyone when we are preparing for a match, but we will be professional and respectful towards them and that’s what we expect in return.”

It’s natural that people will have to start leaving otherwise we will end up with a huge squad and I don’t think that is beneficial to anybody.”

We've signed two in positions of need. Considering how few have left, I'm surprised we've even done that.

Share your concerns, but we were relegated after spending a fortune. Pretty much an impossible task to correct things in one window.

West Ham have allegedly pulled out of signing JWP. Who was the most advanced of their lowball targets this window. I would hope they get no one but a more fitting piece of karma might be for them to get rinsed by Man Utd for Maguire and McTominay

Liverpool should offer £50m for Lavia.  Another good season and they could make a good profit on him by selling to a really big club like Man City or Arsenal.

But I thought Liverpool had entered another period of dominance. The collective pressgasm after they won the league seemed to suggest so anyway.

Liverpool table improved Lavia bid | Exploring Andre deal

Liverpool have tabled an improved bid for Romeo Lavia but are concurrently exploring a deal for Andre of Fluminense if Southampton’s valuation for their teenage midfielder remains high.

Sky Sports News understands the new offer from the Merseysiders is still below an initial £40m, with Saints wanting £50m for the Belgian international.

The total package is closer to that asking price but if a compromise can’t be reached, Liverpool are considering alternative options, which include Andre.

Lavia, also of interest to Chelsea, remains keen on a switch to Anfield.

Southampton rejected an opening offer of £34m, plus £4m in add-ons from Liverpool last week.
