Phil Jones is likely to leave United. His Premier League days are well behind him. Wonder if we will explore a move for him.

To quote a line from 2 Unlimited, "no no, no no no no, no no no no, no no."

Strip him for parts? He's played two games in three years due to chronic knee problems, and hasn't even trained this season.

32 year old perma crock. More likely to retire than lead us to championship glory/ignominy.

Love a mystery player. Never heard of him;  can't even find out what position he plays. He's either a left back, centre back, central midfielder, or some kind of attacker.

Exciting times.

He's scored no domestic goals for his club so I think he's one of these modern strikers or wingers that our club loves to buy

We’ll likely bring in 100m or so in sales this year so I’m not really sure we’ll need to sell anybody that we absolutely don’t have too

I'd say it's essential we bring in £100m seeing how much we have spent and the debt the club carries.

The one thing clubs don't want is players, with genuine value, walking on frees. It's financial suicide. Adams and the others with one year left therefore are highly likely to be sold as they won't sign new deals on championship money.

They won’t be able to afford that I don’t think, they’ll pick up one or two maybe

Lyanco has been heavily linked with them, he is the obvious one

Diallo has a year left. They know they can get him for buttons.

Yup, probably why Adams isn’t afraid to insinuate he wants to stay, as he can claim it was out of his control that he was sold…! I still hope he signs a new contract though.

No idea if we could attract him, but sounds like Man Utd aren’t renewing Phil Jones and Tuanzebe contracts. TCDAJFU?

To repeat myself from earlier in the thread, Jones has played 2 games in 3 years due to knee problems, and reportedly hasn't even managed a single training session this season.

Tuanzebe is talented and younger, but has also been ruined by injuries. Managed 5 games on loan at Stoke this season due to a back injury that also plagued him last season. 14 starts in 2 years isn't great.

Ryan Bertrand is out of contract in the summer. I’ll just leave that hanging out there…

If we’re getting anyone from United I want it to be Amad Diallo. Would probably need to be a loan, but he’s been fantastic for Sunderland this season.

Left footed right winger but can play across the front 3.

He was crap last night and seemed to be a bit rattled by the stick he was getting off the crowd, but agree he’s looked good this season. As a result i’d expect his next move (if he won’t get games at United) would be above Championship level.

that's worth £400k to us in prize money.

Is the point more that if they hadnt vastly overspent, they may not have beaten us? We lost 2-1 in gameweek 9, still had Ralph as manager and had we won that, potentially we would not have sacked Ralph and been in the state we are now! Their 2 goalscorers that day were McNeil and Coady, 2 signings from this season, when within the rules they probably shouldnt be signing them. One of the goals assisted by their 30 mil signing Onana, who they almost certainly shouldnt have been able to afford!

I'd expect him to get a loan move to a bottom-half prem team next season, slowly work his way up to United.

Odd because he has played matches in Serie A at a much younger age

Would fit in very well with our bunch of weak minded cowards then.

Way outside of our reach now, but it’s clear we need a striker. I’d like for us to look at players performing across European top leagues rather than the championship.

Really like the look of Vangelis Pavlidis, currently at AZ Alkmar. Pretty quick for a bigger lad and can finish.

would expect to see him in one of europes big leagues fairly soon.

Would have had more chance in January, when we wasted £18m on that fucking donkey Paul.

You say that, but he had scored a shedload of goals at Gent. We just didn't play to his strength of arriving late. Or was that what Prowsey meant by late arrivals? :)

He’s dire. Can’t run, unfit, has no first touch. All round just a really really poor player.

I can’t even recall him winning a header. Especially not as many as he should for his size.

Assume we will be looking at Leroy Lita.

Banged 16 in 18 games for Ilkeston last season. Now out of contract. Knows the league and has looked after himself well.

One of my favourite players in Championship Manager 2 (1995)

Yeah agree, Diallo and Lyanco look the obvious choices.. maybe Onuachu in loan

Personally I don’t see Sulemana pitching up in Turkey but who knows 🤷‍♀️

I can't see us letting Sulemana go unless someone comes up with £20m - and that won't be a side in Turkey.

Cost United £37m. Pretty nuts that a £37m player is playing on loan in the Championship. Why the loan market will be key next season.

When I watched his youtube videos there seemed to be a shed load of absolutely unmissable tap ins from two yards. He didn't look very clinical. Lots of scuffed shots and times when he should be smashing it in, but he dithered and somehow still had time to score - kind of getting away with it.  There were some decent headers and a few decent goals, but I can't say I especially liked what I saw or thought we had a good one on our hands. Youtube videos normally make you look amazing, but sometimes it can reveal weaknesses and limitations.

What have you seen in him to suggest he’s anything but a load of shit? Genuinely comparative with Carrillo.

poor man's Kev Francis. Simple as that. I am deeply concerned that even when we step down a division he won't tear it up. Unless we lay chance on a plate for him, he won't score goals. Will we be able to create those guilt edge, can't miss chances?

I'd rather we gave Mara a season. There is a chance he can become a proper player that might score goals in the Prem. Not sure Onuachu ever will. If we are looking to reboot and come back stringer, then lets actually reboot with a proper strike force.

Play the player not the narrative.

His first touch is not shit he's played some delightful balls with his back to goal and to be honest we dont know what we have as this team is so shit, selection inconsistent so he gets 15mins every now and again and we have the only players in the league who have a geninue wookie on the team who then refuse to cross it in.

If we move to a possession heavy approach he doesn't have to run as much and improves his endurance after only 5 months in a new league then i think he can be a player, if we stick with high press then its a no.

Agree with mara as i would like to see him as he has longer term potential and i think he is a gangster.

Tall paul i think can be a player in a possession heavy team if we transition to that.

Agree to disagree I suppose. I think he’s a terrible player, nowhere near the level.

Decent player, plays at No.10 though and I’m not convinced we need one

Yep, point I was going to make. Alcaraz and Smallbone should be more than sufficient in ‘the 10’. Dack has never been the same player since his ACL injury, as well.
