Would love Tella to stay but he’s always been in that likely departure column for me. Prem interest is always going to be an issue. Love that we’re sticking to our guns though.

My main frustration is that we've played him for most of preseason and him leaving now is going to create a fairly big hole. It's unfortunate that Burnley didn't just pony up the money. Unlike some of the others he's clearly worth at least 15 million.

What makes the likes of Salisu worth as much as Tella? Imo Tella is worth loads more, particularly to us as a team who is currently struggling to create and score.

We're going to go from having two of the best wingers in the league a week before the start of the season, to suddenly having no genuine week-in week-out starters at the position.

I don't think Tella is worth £20m, but we'd be absolutely ridiculous to sell him for any less.

Similar to Sulemana, he hasn't proven his £22m fee yet, but selling at a lower price than that would be baffling to me.

Salisu has cut it in the prem and left sided CBs are more of a premium than wingers

Personally don’t think we’ve seen enough from Sulemana to say he’d be one of the best in the league. He should be, and I hope we keep him (and Tella) but also think Edozie can be a regular, looked a player when he joined, lost his way a bit, through combination of limited game time and that miss against Lincoln seemed to knock his confidence. But has looked sharp in preseason and has all the attributes. 
Ideal world we keep them all, I’m sure the club would rather not sell, but question is do they (Tella and Sulemana) want to stay?

Burnley have already signed 6 players on transfer fee this window, and are hoping for at least 3 or 4 more.  Paying what the asking club wants at the first time of asking, will add perhaps £20-30m to the total cost.  Sunderland fans feel similar about Burnley's bidding for Clarke.

I suspect that Burnley won't bid enough for Southampton to be willing to sell.  But we'll see.

Agree completely .. if we keep sulemana and tella with Alcaraz in behind this really could be one of the best attack the championship has ever seen .. neither seem worth losing for the measly prices quoted and these two could be absolutely sensational for us ., seems a no brainer to keep them

Salisu is one of those who will frustrate the hell out of us when we see him performing well in the PL. He's a talented, physical, left-footed CB with his best years to come. His problem isn't his ability - it's more between his ears. He needs good coaching and motivation - none of which was present during last year's coaching shit-show. It didn't help him when we started playing KWP at LB or LWB, or when Perrault pushed up but couldn't get back in time, because that gave him too much real estate to cover.

Burnley can jog on, they paid the money that we are asking for a young goalkeeper but yet wont pay the same for their leading goal scorer from last season and I think leading assist maker as well.

Cannot understand selling Tella unless he wants to go. For a team that's been so poor at scoring goals it seems absolute madness to be selling the top scorer in the Championship last year for £15-20m. I'm not sure we'd get a better player for that money.

Hope Wilcox knows what he's doing and that Martin is on board with this as things looked pretty good after the Reading friendly and in parts against Bournemouth but latest rumours seem to have us getting rid of a lot of our better players.

If we really have targets lined up then they are going to need to get signed pretty quick and hit the ground running extremely quickly to ensure we don't lose too much ground.

Tella only has two years left on his deal so I can see us being willing to go a bit below £20m to get a deal done.

Sulemana has a long contract and there's no logic to taking a loss on him - if he wants out then I think he'll have to go out on loan to try to build up his reputation for a sale next summer

It's not even if he wants to go. If he doesn't down tools and refuse to play then he should be playing here next year in my opinion. He could potentially fire us to promotion.

No I heard this, it was the opposite I think. Peterborough were interested in one of our players who decided to go somewhere else, I assumed it to  have been Nlundulu as we haven't sold anyone else around L1 level. Was very complimentary about Ankersen and Martin though.

There's absolutely zero evidence that we Tella is unhappy and would stink the place out, it's a myth cooked up by Burnley fans. If we sold him for 9 million it would be a disgrace but we won't be doing so.

MS drives some at the club nuts.  Think's he's brighter than he is, won't be told anything and is lazy by nature.  I don't know if the management are desperate to get rid but some of the day to day staff certainly are.

Top goalscorer and 5th top assister for a promoted club. Team of the year. 24 years old with 2 years left on his contract. I'd love to know the last player with these credentials to transfer for sub-£10m. His current market value is £15.4m and that's without taking into account the fact we won't need to sell him and will see him as a real asset in the Championship. Burnley are a Premier League club now. We as a Championship club aren't going to let them have a bargain. They need to pay up or find a new target.

Tbf I’m sure if the situations were reversed we have some fans on here speculating the same type of thing. Burnley just re-promoted, a seemingly excellent manager and a team on the up, Tella being back at a club that didn’t want him before and loaned him out. Understandable they’ve got some fans who come to that reasoning, and I dare say there’s a lot that’s appealing to Tella about a move. I just hope he does see value in staying with us, but if he doesn’t I feel fairly certain that £9M is about half of what would be needed for us to let him go.

Massive question marks over his temperament and overall bottle though for me.  It’s a big gamble for anyone.  Physically he’s got everything required but mentally I’m not so sure.
