Summer Transfer Window 2023

Absolutely - a swing from 8m to 3.5m is humiliating to say the least. There must be something very unappealing about ABK for him to find himself without a deal on the last day of the window.

I think the Dortmund deal was initially a sale but dressed up as a loan with obligation, and that the "loan fee" was a big one as in reality it was the first tranche of the transfer fee. It looks like that's collapsed for some reason so we're now looking for a conventional loan, with a loan fee to match. Nothing humiliating about it at all, just a shift from a sale to a loan.

A quick visit for my post 1/3 of the day and to get a baseline - page 319, no arrivals or departures confirmed. Fortunately I'm busy today, so I'll pop back at prosecco o'clock or maybe even a Quob sparkler to see where we are.

If KWP stays, I'm opening my last decent bottle of Burgundy, given to me by a mate after I did his driveway.

Decent?! Let us be the judge of that! 😉 I don't often have Burgundy and often disappointed. But can't beat mulling over the battle of Waterloo with a decent Beaune..

Back later. Have fun.

A.B-K Seems weird to be trying to get rid of a young player who's recently become a full German international.  I know he was injured quite a lot but surely he's had the op on his shoulder over the summer?

Unless he really is crocked, he will be a top player IMO

I think ABK will be a top player, but equally I think it was clear when he arrived he wouldn’t be here long - getting relegated has clearly accelerated his desire to move on. I am surprised he hasn’t had more Prem interest, Spurs would be well advised to sign him imo, and it’d be a good move for him.

Two big clubs like that were never going to agree to an obligation/permanent deal with the question marks over ABK's injuries and even to a certain extent, his performances.

Personally, I think they were just looking for a cheap stop gap.

Of course it’s humiliating if only for the player…one of those I suspect RM tagged as thinking they’re better than they actually are. I notice there’s very little talk of a contract deal between any club and the player…suggests he and his agent are not easy people to deal with.

Nice!

Love the nod to City with ' frequent sender' stamped on the envelope 😂

They've (saints) also tweeted a loyalty stamp card with 5 stamps and the last one left unstamped "Bonus Signing"

Another one on the way or am I just massively reading into things too much? Probably the later.

Nah, can't agree with any of that. His injury record would make a sale difficult, and there's no humiliation or blame for other clubs only wanting to take him on loan. Now that THB is over the line, he'll be loaned somewhere before tea time.

Is this the day we concede promotion? As things stand, it looks like we will be entering a crucial period of games without a recognised striker.

Deadline day, striker crisis ... wouldn't have it any other way.

Only had since June 14th to sort it out, but why rush ... tall Pauls are always available on deadline day.

Lessons learned 😂😂😂😂

Let’s hope so…pointless him stinking the pace out any longer.

In terms of incomings as mentioned above Patrick Roberts feels very underwhelming.
Was one highly rated at City and Celtic but clearly never lived up to the hype.

Ross Stewart, I know nothing about. Jury’s out on that one.
Would rather keep Che Adams.

Bear in mind the squad will probably be heading up north tomorrow afternoon, imagine the club do some social media snippets of the players travelling up - it might shut a few people up straight away. 😂

Slightly worried that you think signing their 2 best players is underwhelming

Very good signing. Just need a striker or two now…please Jason, don’t screw this up.

Expand

it has to be 2 strikers. We cannot go into the season with 1 striker who has a questionable injury record and wont be fit for a month.

and no, AA cannot play through the middle, we've seen that more than enough times

Looks like spurs maybe interested oh an he hasn’t left yet soo it’s still the Southampton way.

Ahh yes, Spurs, that notoriously generous club.

FWIW I don't care if he goes, I hope he does. I think he's an absolute quitter and summed up why we went down. Just wish we'd stop publicly patting ourselves on the back for being such stern negotiators setting unrealistic expectations we're never gonna get then dropping our pants.

Terrific signing, THB (tbh). I wonder if he will immediately be made captain?

Wonder if that's who RM had in mind for the role?

Have to say they are playing a blinder. a creative winger (maybe THAT one) and it's a 9/10 window (assuming Stewart signs)

What an excellent announcement to start the day.

Just need to get that striker in first, then we can just shut all our windows, right?

Given the Stephens injury and potential departures, I wonder if our defensive line up tomorrow will be

Bazunu

Holgate Charles THB Manning

Really good defence that. Along with the midfield, that's arguably the strongest core in the league.

Still - Goals, or lack of, is going to be what kills us.
