We've been linked with a few wingers. I would expect that means Sulemana is definitely on his way. Not a huge loss considering he's barely played.

Expand

Sulemana is out of here. If you are injured, the club doesn't let you go to get 'specialised treatment'. That's bollocks. I'm guessing he just isn't turning up for training as he wants to push a transfer through.

Like I said earlier, go and search their forum for his name. He played rb for them and they raved about him and wanted to sign him.

Expand

That's the issue for me. He's not a big powerful CB. He's a ball player, which we obviously want, but will he win every single defensive set piece header? I know it's prehistoric stuff, but it's the first requirement for a CB.

Yes most likely. The Athletic wrote an article at the beginning of the summer talking baiut him possibly going on loan and then returning if we got promoted. I'm assuming he said something about not playing in a lower league.

Something along the lines of an English Jos Hooiveld. FIne by me.

He's not like Jos in terms of footballing attributes though. Much better with the ball, not as good in the air.

Brighton managed to get £115m and insert a sell on clause for Caicedo. Hopefully we get money and a sell on for Lavia.

A sell on clause sounds pretty pointless for a player you sell for one hundred million pounds.

The Athletic is poor at the best of times nowadays, it’s gone very backwards.

It’s a slightly more up class Talksport, purely because you have to subscribe to have the waffle in written form than having to listen to it for free on Talkshite.

It’s just regurgitated rumours.

I don't care about any of that. My point was that Tanswell clearly had some contacts within the club and made a point of talking about Sulemana going on loan to the Premier league which was a really odd thing to say at the beginning of the summer. Since then Sulemana hasn't been seen since and has been linked with a loan move to Everton so it's clearly not just guesswork and a load of bollocks, there's some truth to it even if it doesn't pan out that way eventually. Entirely possible that he's told the club he doesn't want to play in a lower league.

Here’s what I could find on Paintsil… because frankly I don’t know much about him

https://totalfootballanalysis.com/player-analysis/joseph-paintsil-at-krc-genk-202223-scout-report-tactical-analysis-tactics

Metrics wise he is more or less in the top 98th centile of pro league attacking players for goalscoring actions and top 90th for most dribbling metrics… his write up has him being used, at times in a more defensive sense too

Last year he produced an average of 0.9 G/A per game and Villa we’re sniffing around in January

Id imagine he’ll come in to replace Sulemana who looks like is off

He clearly rates himself very highly. Perhaps rightly.

I dont see him ever playing for us again. We ain't loaning him to Everton and then welcoming him back with open arms next summer when we get promoted. We will loan him only if we can't get someone to buy him.

Presumably we would loan him out and hope we win promotion and he has a great season so we can flog him for loads more next year. I would guess that would have been the plan had we stayed up so we can still do that but use an existing premier league club to showcase him for us.

Doesn’t he have a muscle injury and is expected back into the fold at some point next week.

He could of course be acting like a dick or he could be sorting his injury out.

Sounds like an excuse to me. How many players do we send off somewhere else if they have a muscle injury? Combine that with the loan comments and the comment from Martin about coming back with a "renewed energy." I reckon he's said he doesn't want it.

Very likely, I'd say.

He'll no doubt be miffed that we dont want to loan him and are asking for at least our money back from Everton. I bet his agent has told him to stay at home to force us to sell him for less than his worth.

What a dumbass coming here in the first place if that's the case. It was plainly obvious we were very likely to be going down by January.

Good point. That could work. I think the trouble is, clubs will know he doesn't want to play for us and offer a derisery amount for him next summer too.

You'd of thought everything would have been agreed in January, as our survival was in massive doubt.

Pretty disappointed. Not surprised. Star players want to be in the Prem. They all do.

Why are we so delighted about selling our player? Lavia is class obviously but why do we care whether Liverpool or Chelsea buy him? As long as we get a massive pay out, he can go to Pompey for all I care.

If Liverpool is the only choice then of course flog him to them. If Chelsea are also involved then it's great if he chooses them over the victims.

55m is a record fee for a player in the Championship tbf.. and I agree, I don’t really care where he goes as long as we get the best fee but with Klopp doing his usual tapping up, the club playing games and low balling us all summer then him moving to Chelsea is a bonus

Yeah, I dont get that too. He's gone in my eyes, although Everton seem to have a few wide players as options. We may be left holding the baby. That could be painful.

Losing Tella would be gutting, particularly because we wouldn't get much for him. If we keep him then Sulemana can leave it's no big deal and we will have potentially this guy involved in the Onuachu deal, Edozie, Ameyew, Stuart Armstrong and Tella (actually thinking about it we probably need to get rid of one still.)

We employ doctors and physios to sort out injuries. You don't let players go off and do their own thing.

I think Martin is just covering up a player not turning up to training. Its a common tactic.

I could be wrong. But it stinks.

Can't see the Painsil swap deal happening. Swap deals are too complicated. Too many moving parts. You missed Djenepo and AA. Lots of bodies.

Tbf.. Bednarek went elsewhere for his injury after the friendly, ABK to germany

I believe due to squad size the Staplewood medical facility is being used more for 1st team recovery etc

But.. even with that said.. I think things with Kameldeen are being exaggerated….

Djenepo needs to leave. Expect we will end up paying to get him off on loan. AA maybe but he's not really a winger.

I'm thinking horses for courses. We are F2 as things stand, so while an F1 player would be preferable, if he makes us stronger bring him in.

I'm not familiar with this F scale.

The course demands a big lad to win headers. Not sure he is that. He reminds me of higginbottom. Alright, but not quite 'right' at either cb or fullback.

Formula 1 and Formula 2. A motor racing comparison. Champions at F2 level can fail spectacularly on promotion, whereas some flourish at F1 level.... But at least they can get there in the first place. You always want the ones that can hack it in the level above, but all things considered, lets just try and get back up and then go with it.

Cheers for that, interesting read. Watched a few YouTube videos on him so don’t know anything more about him but looks to be very right footed and relies on his pace more than anything to beat a player. That article seemed to suggest his dribbling skills actually aren’t that great and the videos I’ve seen don’t really showcase any exceptional dribbling ability in the way , say Sulemana, has.

I’d probably give him a swerve if I’m honest. I’m not against quick wingers and we definitely need to retain pace up top but we’ll need someone with a few more tricks up his sleeve if we intend to dominate possession. Depending on who goes and who stays then Grady Diangana has looked the most exciting of the wide players we’ve been linked with (I’m assuming the links with McAtee are bollocks).

I don’t think Swansea did much because they didn’t really play with wide players. Much of the time it was using wingbacks so traditional wingers didn’t feature so much. What has been pleasing is that we’ve been playing with both Tella and Edozie so it’s obvious that, at least at the moment, that it’s something we’re trying to utilise. Personally I’m not sure players that have outright pace are as important as players who can work in tight spaces and beat a man with a bit of skill. It’s fine if we set up as a team that counter attacks but that’s not going to be us most of the time.

I'd agree with your top 3, but we'll be supplementing wages to get him gone. This won't be a case of someone giving us a chunk of cash and taking his wages off our books.
