I think the best way I can summarise Diallo is that we could have sold him, never mentioned it officially, and nobody would actually notice or care until about halfway through the season.

Makes me laugh that at the end of the season it was said he wants to leave as he doesn’t want to play in the championship so he’s going to play in Qatar. I’ve regularly forgotten he plays for us in his time here. He showed some decent potential early on but been a really poor signing.

I think ultimately he looks like a wasted talent, I thought he could potentially flourish into a decent PL DM but he never really improved (maybe even regressed since the purchase) 

Its a shame really but his move to Qatar shows where his motivation lies as a young player

Nice to see us starting to move on the deadwood 

Heard we’d likely lose the ‘french contingent’ from the end of last year, him, Perraud and Mara were all making noises about moving on, I’d imagine Perraud will be next out the door

I didn’t mind him as much as a lot in here.probably due to the fact he had a a bit of a engine and could drive  and carry the ball up the pitch ..I do think that’s something we lacked a lot at times.. 

never really got going here but offered something a little differant as a squad player

Apart from the fact he was a woeful passer of the ball and frequently got dispossessed in possession you’re spot on 🙄

As a ball winner he wasn’t completely horrible, the issue was if anyone expected anything progressive from him at all

Hehe funny how you crucify diallo’s passing but love che can’t finish for toffee adams .,

not saying diallo is great or anything but he could at least get us up the pitch with pace in a box to box way .. we didn’t really have anyone else with that attribute

Could add a few more defenders to that for small amounts and maybe someone like Sulemana or Tella of course. What it does show is that there's no obligation to sell jwp unless he wants to go.

With the occasional exception Southampton, rarely seem to strike gold with players of "French" origin. They often seem to have talent and skills but equally often don't seem to have the heart or passion for the English leagues. Although, personally I do like Perraud

See on the BBC Gossip that Sangarre (our first choice MF that year) being talked about at £35m. 
 

Players are totally different, like Maddison & Elyonoussi, how did we go from A to B with such a drop in standard ?

Because we wouldn't or couldn't pay the transfer fees for those sort of players. We were still shopping in the 10m to 15m bracket, when the teams we were competing against would be upping what they would pay by another 10m.

That’s generally been the case but it doesn’t apply re the two I’ve mentioned.

As I recall we had agreed the fee with Norwich for Maddison (c£22m), Sangarre went to PSV for £8-10m depending on reports. 
 

As a further example of our misguided recruitment dept, Botman cost less than Salisu the same year.

It was nothing to do with price, Sangarre was cheaper we just couldn't sign him because of a work permit. Sadly.

Are we actually going to get money for Diallo? Even if it's just a couple of million that's a Result. What a disappointment he has been.

The standout memory from Diallo's time here was when he came on for Lavia at Arsenal last season with 5 minutes to go. He got booked and we let in 2 goals in 3 minutes.

Probably because Ive consistently said as poor as Che is at finishing off moves, he was pretty integral to how we played over the last two years, initiating the press, disrupting the back line and being a focal point in attack.. his touch, back to goal play and passing is very good… so were between a rock and a hard place… either we put up with his 50/50 finishing or our build up was non existent…. Im not expecting you to understand that intricacy though

Diallo just didn’t do what you suggested anyway, and effectively we employed a double pivot, so neither were expected to play a proper ‘box to box’ role, with the furthest we’d expect either to progress forward would probably be between halfway and the oppo box

Be shocked if we didn't bring in quite a bit more than £100m on transfers. Lavia, ABK, JWP, KWP, Salisu, Onuachu all extremely likely to leave and would get us substantially beyond that by themselves. Then add even cut-price fees for players like Diallo, DCC, Lycano, Perraud, Aribo and we're approaching £150m I would say.

Of those you describe we will get virtually nothing for Diallo and certainly if we sell Onuachu or DCC we will still end up paying out more in the installments we owe Genk and Marseille than what we would actually be getting from whoever buys them.

Lyanco and DCC will probably only generate loan offers as tbeir wages will be too high for anyone of their level to cover. Possibly the same even for Paul.

Salisu will generate possibly £10m.

does anyone know what payers are in Turkey? I saw the picture of JWP at the airport in a selfie but any other notable absentees/travellers?

Interesting, could well be right. Completing our payments for Onuachu and DCC isn't really part of the equation though.

Lycano and DCC have been linked to permanent moves but I guess we wait and see how that plays out. You are right in the sense that we'll probably be paying some of their wages even if they leave permanently. I think we're looking at £45m for Lavia, £30m for JPW, £15m for KWP and £25m for ABK (some of which will go back to his old club). Add Salisu to that and I think it's around £125m.

Speaking conservatively I think we can hope to get around £2.5m for Diallo, £4m for DCC, £2m for Lycano, £4m for Perraud, £5m for Aribo, £8m for Paul. But also likely I suppose that we'll be left with some players we can't shift just as a result of the sheer numbers we need to get rid of.

Not a chance are we going to sell those four and only receive 90 million. You also forgot about Tella.

That's realistic imo. In reality it'll be less due to the City cut from the Lavia fee.

Isn't it more likely that Ings still owns a house in Southampton and is now selling it? I saw mention that this mural is one of three - all of a player wearing an England shirt, but with different numbers - 9, 14 and 19 I think he said (though don't quote me on it). It was also commented by someone that those were Ings' England numbers.
