He could play for any of the top six in the EPL, then there's Madrid, Barcelona, Borussia M, PSV, etc. etc. - why Liverpool?

Expand

Steady on - he's had one decent but injury-disrupted season in a team that got relegated. You don't get a move to Real or Barcelona (or even City these days) off the back of that - he's nowhere near proven himself enough to play at that level yet.

I imagine Lis will leave on loan again in search of first team football.

It's our weakest position by quite some way. Whether the club recognise that I'm not sure but our success this season could hinge on it.

Unfortunately, I think our strikers performed as well as the keepers did last season.

Downes is in the new home kit promos for WHU. I suppose Prowsey was for us, so perhaps means nothing. Unusual for a fringe player, he’s a supporter though isn’t he?

Find it funny that the people think the marketing team and manager sit down and have a chat about players futures before doing a kit shoot. Sometimes even roughly 3 months before the previous season ends.

Its only indicative that the player/club relationship hasn’t broken down… there’s not a lot to it really but, for instance I wouldn’t expect Salisu to feature in much of the clubs PR pieces

I too wouldn’t expect Salisu to be in club PR pieces but that’s nothing to do with his future and everything to do with his marketability to the target audience.

Reality is that in the first few games players will start who are later sold.

As always most transfers happen in the last few weeks of the window and as a Championship team that will leave us open to losing good players.

But also means we should have a strong side for the first few even if we havent made many signings.

The squad that goes on the Goztepe trip, and specifically who doesn't, will be interesting...

Expand

Is that the strong squad that did so well for us at the end of last season?

Just saw this on Twitter - All 4 of Lis' last clubs ended up relegated (including us for some reason even though he barely saw Staplewood before going to Troyes)

Embedded tweet didn't work lol

I'd like us to bring in a new keeper. If only on loan. Not sure we are going to be able to shift McCarthy

Expand

Unless he departs then can't see us bringing in a keeper to challenge for the first team. Even with his wage reduction, McCarthy ain't cheap wages wise. Prem clubs would need to consider him as 'second choice but pushing the first choice hard' before investing in him. How many need a keeper?

He is. Another reason why he will be very reluctant to depart (in addition to stepping down a division after only just getting to prem).

As he seemed to get more playing time towards the end of last season, rather than less, I can't see them letting him depart this summer.

Its the squad that eclipses the rest of the League in presumed value.

I think it's Maxwel Cornet. Another player rumoured to be on the move.

Blimey I forgot he even went there. Seems an odd player to have front and centre of kit release. DId he play much last season? I don't remember him playing once, but I don't pay huge amounts of attention to other clubs tbh

He doesn’t have a great record with kit releases either.

Bit worried about us having shit goalkeepers. And now not many of them.

Expand

Bazunu, McCarthy will be better than most and if AMc leaves then he will be replaced.

Assume McNamara or Bycroft will be the third keeper and if it gets to the point the third keeper is needed then there is nearly always a free agent knocking around.

Hopefully Bazunu, Dragowski and McNamara will be our 3.

I'll believe it more from a better source.

I hope nor to piss on anyone's corn flakes but I imagine Leicester are alot more Appealing right now or a premier league outfit.

Not seen any/many posts on here complaining about our slowness to do business to be fair, but seeing the headline `Arsenal close in on Rice' really shows just how long some transfers can take if things don't align perfectly. That deal seems to have gone on for bloody ages. It might be that, unlike other deals, the general public saw when negotiations actually began - I think they only got started once the European final had been played - when perhaps normally they would have began weeks or even months before.

As soon as Rice to Arsenal is completed will West Ham firm up/make their bid for JWP?

Union Berlin take David Fofana on loan for the season from Chelsea. Perhaps ends their interest (if there ever was any) in Onuachu?

Dragowski signed a three year deal with Spezia last summer and played 35 games in Seria A last season for them. I thought we weren't able to sign him because he wouldn't get a work permit? Has that situation changed? Feels like that ship has sailed.

according the the saints web gurus, they're absolutely skint. completely fucked and are losing players at a cut down fee for fun.

no one would want to join them and if they did, they'd be crazy (including the manager who turned us down for them....)

This place is going to be fun when we loose JWP for 25m. The same faces will be saying "we're a championship side, what do you expect"

You must be in the "saints web gurus" as you seen to think you know everything but clearly don't....

There is absolutely no way we will sell JWP for £25 Million 🤣
