He prefers to play centrally. Got a "should have scored" after one game. Archer looks the better bet there.

I think his workrate made a massive difference for Martin last season, so we miss him in there. Just that Dibling offered something different and earned a shot.

Actually think he’s at his best in this wide right position, he is at least getting involved in creating chances and seems confident in shooting on sight and we know he can finish. I think there’s room ti fit him in whilst keeping dibling in and it probably upgrades our attack

I like him and love his attitude, but he’s fallen behind Dibling and Archer (rightly so) for those spaces, which basically just leaves the left forward berth as an option, otherwise the bench it is. I wouldn’t mind him playing out there, but have a big problem with having no left foot on that flank at all, so he’d need pairing with Manning (dreadful defender) or Taylor (out of favour apparently) at left back. 
So unless Taylor gets recalled or we risk switching Dibling from where he’s been most effective it’s a no for me

Dont know why Taylor is suddenly out of favour, has looked pretty decent whenever he's played. Certainly not the worst player!

To be fair I think it’s harsh to criticise him for changing starting line ups. when you haven’t won a game not giving others oppurtunitys would look just as stupid .

You cannot make a team out of a mixed selection of individuals. “Nothing beats a settled team”. Even when we appear to have made progress during a game he upends that by making wholesale substitutions. The Ipswich game in particular but also the Leicester game.

Yeah but there’s no logic in anything he does. He doesn’t use cup games to try new things. He doesn’t try and build relationships between players. 
 

Just sticks people anywhere. Then subs them off and sticks new players anywhere. 

How will the players learn to play with each other with his buffoonery going on?

 

Normally the one thing championship sides have is good chemistry as they come up. Can win a few games on that alone. But we have zero

Well cometh the hour cometh the man.

as I was saying in the week he’s been lively most appearances this season so no surprise he pops up with a goal.I think he takes a lot of grief with people thinking he’s not premiership quality but as long as he keeps getting in the positions he has been goals will come .Martin spoke in the post match conference about archer not getting much support so hoping he’s thinking of fitting arma back in

I think he’s been largely poor, lots of terrible crosses, thrashed shots and offside a lot when he’s looking across the line. Well taken goal on Saturday after some good movement but I think we’re fortunate it was against a keeper with particularly short arms

Not for me. Woefully short at this level. The ironic thing is, he scored yesterday with probably the most difficult chance he has had all season.

5 goals in 60 Premier League appearances. It's not "people thinking" it, he's categorically not Premier League quality.

Do the one about how he's never "had a chance" again.

MOTD had it as 5 goals in 75 Premier League appearances as he had 15 while at Newcastle.

Joe Hart on Motd showed how the keeper was unsighted by a defender standing in his line of vision . The keeper was leaning to his left with his weight on his left leg to see the ball so could not dive to the right in time !

Judging goals by appearances is a crap way of judging a striker.. go with starts if you have to. 
 

don’t you think he’s looking a lot more lively this season then he did under hasenhuttl ? From what i remember under Ralph he  was quite anonymous .. but this season he’s getting into scoring positions in pretty much every match he’s played and also contributing in some chances created. He looks a lot more confident this time around ?

I find it mad that everyone seems to want him to fail to be proved right ..this is the man who just got about 50 goal contributions last season and was absolutely key in getting your team into the premiership in the first place. 
 

he’s getting into scoring positions most games which is more then most of our players are doing  to call him not premier league player is super harsh

At this level he’s a very poor player, who had a poor match, however he did score a nice goal. I have nothing against him, he always gives 100%, but we have better options.

The reason he is playing is because we don’t or so far haven’t shown it.

I don't want him to fail. I like him a lot and he was brilliant last season.

I'm laughing at you making out that over the 50 Premier League appearances prior to this season you say he "never had a chance" when he's had the kind of chance that ten thousand prospective footballers would kill for.

It's obvious he hasn't got the composure to be Premier League forward as proven by multiple managers now.

Delighted with his goal on Saturday.

Agree with this, was awful until his goal. Even Fernandes seemed to stop passing to him 2nd half when he switched over to the left.

If he did had 28 more "poor games but scored a goal" would you say the same? I mean, obviously he won't but IMO a striker literally can't play badly if he scored a goal.

Personally there isn’t a world where i’d be putting Sulemana on the pitch ahead of him, I wonder if Leicester had been different if we’d put Arma on instead.

There are some really admirable parts to Armstrong's game. He's incredibly hard working - will run all day for the team. He's good at picking up scraps and willing to have a pop at goal. He's scored some crackers and seems to have a good sense for getting to the second ball in the opposition box.

There are also some parts of his game that don't seem suited to the Premier League. He gets bullied off the ball too often so he can't play through the middle. When you put him out wide you're going to get the odd goal but he's not great at crossing the ball and is never going to beat his man - so the opposition know he'll always stop, turn and pass it back. He also has a tendency to shoot when there are better options available.

That being said - I don't think any attacking player is going to look good in our system right now because the players that see the ball the most are our goalkeepers and centre backs and we build so slowly that our attackers are always going to be outnumbered by teams that have plenty of time to regain their shape. So players are going to be feeding on scraps.

I think he looked best last season when he played right wing, but realistically was an inside forward playing off someone else. That worked well last season with KWP playing so high on the right, especially when we did shift to a back 5. 

I think we could get the same out of him this season, with Sugawara playing high outside him,  and Archer playing more through the middle.

And I wouldn't put BBD ahead of him either...but we do have Sam AA and Tall Paul and I would like to see them (especially TP) given more opportunity.

Seemed to be linked with half of the championship in this window, is he still at Saints? 

Would expect him to be important part of Championship squad, but Juric doesn't seem to want him?

Perhaps Juric doesn't want him because Armstrong has shown himself to be, at best, a Championship player. Juric may be looking long term and feels that although AA would be ok for us next season, if we managed to get promoted at the end of that season, we are back to square one where AA is concerned. We must learn from our mistakes and sticking with AA when we know his capabilities would be pointless. I like the fact that Juric is thinking long-term.

Don’t get this at all when we loan players out there seems a fair chance they don’t come back. Considering we will be in the championship next season keeping him seems a no brainer. Dibling likely off sulemana could depend if someone comes in for him in the summer it just seems a weird gamble to make players who could be a big part of next season feel unwanted .

we don’t need many changes for next season at all but knowing us we will even Fuck that up
