Fucking var, still sucking the life out of the game.

Why does it take so long.

Without VAR there’s a pretty good chance that goal gets disallowed completely by a lino who thought it looked off at first glance, so overall I’d say it’s a net positive.

Yeah he looks a bit clumsy in the tackle,

looks like he’s coming off

My heart sinks when I see Elyounoussi getting ready to come on. Only we could have our goalscorer injuring himself in a celebration and then compounding it by being replaced by Ely

Just hope Alcaraz isn't out for too many games.

FFS! What a stupid thing to do. Fool!

Just handshake or hi5 or whatever and get on with it.

Odd I've not see Ely at all. I'm watching the game on Sky. Wtf are people going on about? Maybe I need to get my eyes tested.

Mo starting warming up as if he was about to come on.

Mind games from Ruben!!!

Yeah he didn't come off, I thought I was delayed. Not sure what people were on about.

He sprinted off, presumably to get some treatment.

Showed him getting ready on the bench, in full kit. Not for very long mind you so don’t worry too much if you missed it 👀

I thought I was watching the wrong game the way people were going on...

He'd stripped off and was up off the bench, thankfully sat down again

as we are currently not bottom, will the SFC Twitter page do a 'Stop the Count' tweet?

Seeing as we'd still be relegated in 19th, probably not mate.

He was just prepping to go the full john terry at FT when we win.

I'd love saints to win big here, but we need to make sure Rogers doesn't get the sack 😂

The first half of that was poor, but once we got going we looked good.

Nacho should have scored for them, so still need to keep alert.

The ads I’m watching just refered to Liverpool vs Man U as “the fiercest derby in European football” and “the biggest game of the year”

theyre fucking joking right?

We've looked dangerous down the right, OK through the middle, not so much down the left. Sulemana trying hard but nothing coming off for him so far.

Lavia been decent at breaking play up too. He's going to the top.

1 nil up... it's the hope that kills you. Might have an insurance bet here!

So much to be encouraged by that half. I've been huge Alcaraz fan since he joined, and I'm delighted to see this second goal. Hopefully that knee will loosen up over the break.  Don't blame JWP for the penalty. There's element of luck in every penalty. His overall record is awesome. He smacked it w massive power. Arguably he should practice some more to keeper's left. I think large majority go right. But even so he usually makes them.   Also relieved to see Lavia unimpacted by the verbal drama yesterday. He's been awesome.   I truly believe that all Saints need is a couple of results to go our way, and we'll get our confidence back and easily survive. We def have the players to do it. I'll be heartbroken if we throw this one away....

Leicester's high line is suicidal - we've been in behind at least 3 times and have decent pace up front. Old school Saints defending! We don't look nearly as dangerous when they defend deeper. Hopefully they'll continue with it as they're behind and we can exploit it.

I'll take that scoreline after the first half hour!

They showed a graphic of his last 5 penalties and they're all down the same side. The keeper knew and it showed.

The replay of that Alcarez challenge is awful. That's a red, so we got lucky there.

I don't agree, loads of challenges like that where they catch the top of a players boots and no red is given.

I think that was one of the Ralphball 2.0 set ups. Stay tight, absorb pressure and take advantage of the space an attacking team leaves. Selles would have been part of setting that up.

Today's line-up tombola added a couple of wrinkles to it. Sulemana offers soem actually width, in what can be a narrow formation (can still work when KWP gets forward, if he cuts in) and Alcaraz on the otehr flank. But that became fluid as Walcott worked that whole area, allowing Alcara to operate in the centre when needed. So, a bit of fluidity in there. AMN is what is probably his best spot, offering a bit of physicality too when needed.

But we do have to watch opponents try their hand at getting through us. And Leciester were starting to get close, after getting lots of possession.

The crowd really boosted things when we did finally get to use some space. Boosted even more after the penalty miss. And that seemed galvanise the players.

Can only hope Alcaraz hasn't crocked himself doing that celebration. He's not been shy at going for goal, and that's something we really need in the weeks to come.

Che doing lots of little things well, when given the chance. Walcott, so long frozen out, has made a bit of a difference today. Offers a lot of options with the others, and smart enough to know which spaces to pick up, to support the others.

While Sky talk about Alcaraz nearly getting a red, I'll take a deep breath so that I don;t let too much hope in for the second half.

Love JWP but he always goes where he usually puts his free kicks. His whipping style doesn't translate that well to pens. Should have let Alcaraz roll it in.
