alpine_saint Posted 26 January, 2009 Posted 26 January, 2009 I assume he will deserve a chance to continue.. a YES from me.. (a big if mind) So did Pearson for exactly the same reason. It will be absolutely f**king hillarious if Lowe tries wheeling that justification out over the summer...
alpine_saint Posted 26 January, 2009 Posted 26 January, 2009 If he manages to keep us up, he will have pretty much united the fanbase and all supporters will respect the guy. I think the next move is therefore obvious. We dont offer him another contract and give the job to some bloke from the Belgian 3rd Division......... hehehehehe
alpine_saint Posted 26 January, 2009 Posted 26 January, 2009 I think Wotte will turn out to be a revelation. i think he will sort out the problems and get us scoring. Confidentialy predict we will pull ourselves clear Not confidentially enough....
JohnnyFartPants Posted 26 January, 2009 Posted 26 January, 2009 I know Johnny is a muppet show type poster and as such likes to play the clown, that's fine, but when posting on the main board he should IMO be a little bit more mature now and again. He made a statement without foundation and he can't back it up. That is the only point i'm making. Serious business this discussing football stuff, innit? It's not as if football is just a sport or anything. Oh, it is.
up and away Posted 26 January, 2009 Posted 26 January, 2009 If he manages to keep us up then yes he does deserves to stay. However Lowe and Wild Must go, but staying up will keep them in the hot seat so it has to be relegation. (Sorry) IF we managed to stay up and out of administration it will be a miracle and those involved in that deserve to stay, that includes Lowe and Wilde. But I can also see that all we may have done is just delayed things for another day. For that reason you would have to consider anyone else prepared to put a few million into the club, even Crouch or Mandaric. If Crouch would stop with this "I'll show you mine, if you show me yours" ****** he may be taken more seriously. Without doubt Crouch is THE most stupid of the 3 and is heavily responsible for the position we find ourselves in. That does not mean I cannot accept Crouch if it is for the better of Saints. Just forget all the personalities and look back at how much better things would have been if all 3 worked together. Even at the start of this season that would still have been an option and by doing so, Crouch would have had enough influence to keep Pearson. But as per usual, these ****ing contests can never have the 3 of them working together.
Mole Posted 26 January, 2009 Posted 26 January, 2009 Serious business this discussing football stuff, innit? It's not as if football is just a sport or anything. Oh, it is. Perhaps if you'd engaged your brain before typing you wouldn't have dug yourself into a hole. As you now need to change the subject i feel it only right that i let you off on this occassion.
SaintRobbie Posted 26 January, 2009 Posted 26 January, 2009 I assume he will deserve a chance to continue.. a YES from me.. (a big if mind) A No... because I hope the new owner and Chairman will want to make their own appointment rather than have a Lowe-dite.
aintforever Posted 26 January, 2009 Posted 26 January, 2009 If he keeps us up he would have performed a minor miracle, so yes.
Thedelldays Posted 26 January, 2009 Author Posted 26 January, 2009 A No... because I hope the new owner and Chairman will want to make their own appointment rather than have a Lowe-dite. so you are no different to lowe on this matter
NickG Posted 26 January, 2009 Posted 26 January, 2009 unreal pearson had far more at his disposal and he saved us (just)... all im saying is if wotte keeps us up he would have achieved here far mroe than pearson ON THE PITCH and fans already are saying they wont want him here.. I guess some fans are not so different from the current people in charge he is taking over a worse squad, more demoralised, worse support, much worse league position -IF he keeps us up it will be a hugely greater achievement than NPs.
Block 5 Posted 26 January, 2009 Posted 26 January, 2009 I assume he will deserve a chance to continue.. a YES from me.. (a big if mind) YES from me too. To turn us around from our current position, where we can't beat Forest and Donny at home..........and somehow survive in this league.....with our current players.......would be an incredible feat by any manager, even Fergie. And what's more I'll give the guy a chance. But he hasn't got long. On the plus side, he knows the players, and what he has at his disposal. He should already know the starting line up for tomorrow.
JohnnyFartPants Posted 26 January, 2009 Posted 26 January, 2009 Perhaps if you'd engaged your brain before typing you wouldn't have dug yourself into a hole. As you now need to change the subject i feel it only right that i let you off on this occassion. Changing the subject? Is that a bit like posting on a thread and ignoring the question that was asked to merely write more anti Lowe rubbish, as done by you most days? What was your hypothetical answer on this thread, before that you insisted on posting on it yet, not contributing to?
Wes Tender Posted 26 January, 2009 Posted 26 January, 2009 If he manages to keep us up, he will have pretty much united the fanbase and all supporters will respect the guy. I think the next move is therefore obvious. We dont offer him another contract and give the job to some bloke from the Belgian 3rd Division......... Exactly in line with Lowe's strategy with Pearson. Agreed that it would be hypocritical to sack Wotte having condemned Lowe for doing that to Pearson, but then what's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander, eh? Why should Lowe complain if people follow his crassly stupid example and come to that, why should the Lowe apologists complain either, as they have been a little quiet when it comes to criticising what he did. What I'd like to know though, is whether having sacked JP (nobody believes that he left voluntarily, he was pushed) How many more mistakes is Lowe entitled to make with his further appointments before he finally falls on his sword? If Wotte gets us relegated, does Lowe take all the blame, is the more pertinent question to ask now.
Mole Posted 26 January, 2009 Posted 26 January, 2009 What was your hypothetical answer on this thread, before that you insisted on posting on it yet, not contributing to? I was going to ask you to rephrase the question as i don't understand spag talk. I notice you have attempted to rephrase it but it still needs tweeking. Not saying any of them are any better than the others but it highlights the problems we have all through the club.
Big Ron fan Posted 26 January, 2009 Posted 26 January, 2009 isnt that EXACTLY what pearson did last season...after all, the last day was out of our hands so to speak... You've missed my points. 1. 54 points is a lot more than 43 or 44 and would leave a team well clear of relegation most seasons. 2. Pearson came in from outside to correct a mess. Wotte has clearly been part of the existing mess, so will need to do a lot more than scrape by to convince me. 3. Wotte has longer to turn it round (in terms of games) than Pearson, and is dealing with players with whom he is already very familiar. (Indeed, he has probably been involved in choosing many of the signings.)

Mole Posted 26 January, 2009 Posted 26 January, 2009 What was that about changing the subject? It's a just a little joke. Johnny pulled me up on a typo so i'm just pulling his leg about his spasticated use of the English language.

I think the ballence is fairly even as Pearson had a better quad to choose from and a good points tally to push on, while Wotte has more time to get the required points and is already familiar with the squad. Pearson should have been given a chance as should Wotte. (should he succeed )
JohnnyFartPants Posted 26 January, 2009 Posted 26 January, 2009 It's a just a little joke. Johnny pulled me up on a typo so i'm just pulling his leg about his spasticated use of the English language. Ewell Posted 26 January, 2009 Posted 26 January, 2009 Am I the only one who thinks Mark Wotte could be a surprise success this season? I have a feeling he is going to make one or two of you eat your words. So far for me he has said all of the right things. Actions do speak louder though so I shall look forward to his team formation and setup for tomorrow night with interest. I would not be surprised if there was a clamour to keep Mr Wotte next summer. Some of you would do well to remember that YOU have all got it wrong in the past. I guess we will see come May 3rd!

Ponty Posted 26 January, 2009 Posted 26 January, 2009 FFS kids. Can we not destroy every thread on the page with senseless bo**ocks please?
eelpie Posted 26 January, 2009 Posted 26 January, 2009 IF he keeps us up he will become a cult legend like Pearson -especially if he is sacked, lol

I am hoping he is the answer as much as I was hoping JP was and Pearson before him and GB before him. Christ I even hoped Redcrap was the answer a few seasons back!!!! Will be interesting to see how different the formation and the line up as I thought both JP and Wotte were here as they both play the formation we have adopted. I know he was playing the same formation in the reserves so intreged as to what will be so different. If he holds the key to turning us into a better team that wins matches I will be chuffed to bits but still wouldnt put any money on it happening.
buctootim Posted 26 January, 2009 Posted 26 January, 2009 Stanley likes to post the same view regardless of how the facts change. Thats why he had a forum for one. See his posts in that context and you wont hang around for a reasoned and considered response.

saintwarwick Posted 26 January, 2009 Posted 26 January, 2009 that was not the question Stanley cannot see beyond "Lowe out" so will have difficulty answering a question like that.
Mole Posted 26 January, 2009 Posted 26 January, 2009 Stanley cannot see beyond "Lowe out" so will have difficulty answering a question like that. I have got no difficulty answering the question, i just see no point in answering it.
JohnnyFartPants Posted 26 January, 2009 Posted 26 January, 2009 I have got no difficulty answering the question, i just see no point in answering it. Bloody hell. That answer is just one small step away from "I know you are, you said you are, but what am I"
saintwarwick Posted 26 January, 2009 Posted 26 January, 2009 Or maybe I think your thread is sh1t? A thread that is so sh1t you felt compelled to post 24 times
Ewell Posted 26 January, 2009 Posted 26 January, 2009 Some of you chaps really like the sound of your own voices too much. Dark Munster Posted 26 January, 2009 Posted 26 January, 2009 I don't agree that Wotte should stay or go ENTIRELY based in whether we stay up or not. Of course, it's a results driven business, but that sometimes leads to too much of a "do or die" approach. If on the last day of the season, Leics and Coventry had won, we'd have gone down. But Pearson's results would have been identical and I think a strong case could have been made for retaining him. We might get to a total of 47 points with Wotte and get relegated. Or get to a total of 45 and stay up. Should he be sacked in the first situation but kept in the second? Other considerations might be whether if (very hypothetically!) there is a big influx of money, you might decide Wotte isn't the best man to spend it - however good his record with the youngsters. So, I don't think it's as black and white as "stay up he stays, go down, he goes" Wotte he said. Pearson took Saints to 54 points (averaging 1.23 points per game while in charge). Leicester got relegated with a ridiculously high total of 52 points. The bar was set very high that season. Compare that to WBA who stayed up in THAT season in the premiership with a record low number of points, just because there were 3 even worse teams (sadly one of them being Saints). They got relegated and their crap manager (Robson) got sacked a year or so later. If Wotte can average 1.23 points per game, or more, then he probably doesn't deserve the sack, regardless of where Saints finish. Let's see what happens, eh?
saintwarwick Posted 26 January, 2009 Posted 26 January, 2009 I have got no difficulty answering the question, i just see no point in answering it. Do you think Pearson should of kept his job after keeping us up?
saintjay77 Posted 26 January, 2009 Posted 26 January, 2009 I have got no difficulty answering the question, i just see no point in answering it. Why are you on this thread then?????
S4INT Posted 26 January, 2009 Posted 26 January, 2009 Of course, and I hope that that is what everyone wants. Surely the team staying up must take priority over everything else?
Gordon Mockles Posted 26 January, 2009 Posted 26 January, 2009 i assume he will deserve a chance to continue.. A yes from me.. (a big if mind) n o f u * k i n c h a n c e ! !
NickG Posted 26 January, 2009 Posted 26 January, 2009 n o f u * k i n c h a n c e ! ! not read all the thread but are you saying if he successful he should go anyway? why?
CB Fry Posted 26 January, 2009 Posted 26 January, 2009 If he keeps us up from here, I think we will have had a pretty successful second half of the season. I can't see how he could be sacked were he to keep us up - it's all about taking your chances and if he takes that chance he deserves a real go. People saying he should be sacked even if he does keep us up really need to have a bit of a think as I am sure they were spitting blood, as I was, over Pearson's removal. All that said, I don't think he will keep us up and I expect us to enter mid March with Steve Cotterill or Ian Holloway or a similar knee jerk English experienced head in charge. (Steve Cotterill would be fine by me).
NickG Posted 26 January, 2009 Posted 26 January, 2009 if people want him out, even if he suceeds, it shows they are more interested in boardroom than team IMHO
Saint_clark Posted 26 January, 2009 Posted 26 January, 2009 If he keeps us up then yes, of course he deserves a chance.
Whitey Grandad Posted 26 January, 2009 Posted 26 January, 2009 It's a IF I never answer hypothetical questions.
Greedyfly Posted 27 January, 2009 Posted 27 January, 2009 I am not sure with regards to the original question, I have reservations regardless but I do think the comparing of Pearson to Wotte is a contentious issue. For me Pearson worked a miracle by keeping us up, he really did. Now I was hugely disappointed when he was given the job in the first place (and was more than happy to be proven wrong) so this opinion of mine isn't born out of some blind love for Pearson or some willingness to follow at any cost. My point is this; Pearson had on paper a far more experienced team at his disposal than Wotte, I doubt anyone would disagree with that. However I think it a fair assumption to say that most of said team were overweight, lazy and unmotivated which was highlighted by the conceeding of late goals, dropping of points and a total lack of concentration at vast periods through any given game prior too and including the thumping by Hull. NP had to get that team fit and ready for action again without the benefit of a preseason (or half season) behind them. He had to do this whist trying to maximise the amount of points we were gaining whilst continuing with BAU. That is a hell of a juggling trick. Wotte, however, has a young fit team who have been playing together all season (albeit poorly). He has been around them all season, he has been coaching them all season. He has seen and hopefully taken on board JP shortfalls and mistakes. For me he really has little excuse for not hitting the ground running other than his ability to manage a football team in the CCC (the reason JP was sacked - sorry resigned - in the first place). I would say deciding on his own formation and personel is the only think he has left to deliberate on and probably/definitely some motivation issues given the pasting we have taken all season.
