Bring the Beatts back

he’s done the championship tour of coaching at a bunch of struggling clubs which isn’t a good sign. his only managerial experience was at Accrington Stanley in 2013-14 with a 27% win rate. he knows the club yes but a lot has changed including the day to day facilities at staplewood.

but most of all, this was first suggested by MLT and so it is automatically loony.

Hi James

Why isn’t the club considering James Beattie? Out of work, has more experience than Selles, especially in English football. He knows the club inside out and would surely be a hit with the fans. Time to give him a call perhaps?

If we go with Selles, I think there is a strong case for getting Beattie in as an assistant.

He's had 235 Games alongside a manager on the bench, and he could probably teach a few of our strikers a thing or two about getting the ball into the back of the net.

But yeah, I’m onboard. WGS as assistant manager, Paul Telfer first team coach, Brett Ormerod chief scout. Can’t go wrong 👍

He does seem to be back down south so at least geographically in the area.

Queued for a table in West Quay behind Telfer about a month ago so he must be down this way too.

It is all set up and ready to go!

Lundekvam as player liason?

If we're looking at that sort of playing era, look no further than Jason Dodd. He could certainly teach our defenders a thing or two about how to defend, and has good experience on his CV working with youth. Also he still lives locally which is a huge positive, and we won't have to pay too much compensation to prise him from Winchester College. I reckon he could become part of a great double act as co-manager with whoever gets to work alongside him.

I love these sort of threads. You always get these type of posts generally with the sole qualification being that they played for saints once or are a saints fan, regardless of how long ago. It was a bit like clamour to bring him back right at the end of his career even though he'd been shite for years, if we'd have been linked with a mid thirties, injury prone, under performing player anywhere else in the world everyone would have screamed how mental it was but because he played for us once he was perfect for what seemed to be little more than a late, time wasting sub role. :lol:

Many wanted Terry Paine to succeed Ted Bates, he was the logical choice. Especially in some of the pubs at the time.

Unfortunately many of those championing ‘Painer’ will have passed on. But perhaps Terry can now get the role that many considered rightfully his. Forty-nine years later the Club  should give him a call.

Paul Telfer lives Otterbourne/Chandlers Ford way, has done for years. He plays golf at Hockley and is a bloody good golfer, off scratch or less !

The Elynoussi of the 00s. The very definition of a player who was better without the ball. He knows the club, get him to show the rest how to do it

Think that's harsh. He was better than that. He wouldn't be interested at all, he's been to one game (under duress) at St Marys as a spectator, simply not into it.
