Saint NL Posted 15 March, 2023 Posted 15 March, 2023 Eurgh. Half time. Since Brentford scored, Saints play got even slower. Where's the urgency? It's like we're playing at half speed. BIG changes need at half time.no excuses for passengers, Elyounoussi off, I'd rather lose 2-0 and have a go than try and stifle them and create nothing. Che has zero support, we need to go for broke and commit players and not this slow ponderous shit. Very disappointing so far. 4

James G Posted 15 March, 2023 Posted 15 March, 2023 I think we're getting more space down the left, need to exploit that, right hand side needs subs. Too much dithering on the ball, need to avoid giving them set play near the goal

Convict Colony Posted 15 March, 2023 Posted 15 March, 2023 I dont know enough about pretty patterns to comment on where we are failing specifically but we can't control the football tempo and we create 0 chances for our forwards. A bit like man u its end to end but we CAN'T FUCKING SCORE Tall Paul with Che at least and Stu on for moi 1
Mr X Posted 15 March, 2023 Posted 15 March, 2023 Quick quiz question how many shots on target that half?

Our final ball has been woeful, so easy to defend against Teams that take the lead agauinst us can just sit deep, safe in the knowledge we create fuck all, and certainly won't score 2. 1
Micky Posted 15 March, 2023 Posted 15 March, 2023 We've reverted to type again, back to the insipid non threatening football. Awful half, we offered no threat whatsoever. We won't score in a month of Sundays if we continue like this. A game that could define our future in the Premier league and we haven't had a shot on target. Something needs to change in the second half or we are down. 3
Monk Posted 15 March, 2023 Posted 15 March, 2023 PS how shit are we as a fan base? relegation battle and the stadiums full of families or a couple of old girls with their bobble hats on. Appreciate the performances are flat but even when we occasionally score, it's a cheer of 'relief' rather than sheer cunty, nutty limbs and aggression. 2
Dark Munster Posted 15 March, 2023 Posted 15 March, 2023 Toney, a perfect example of having a goal scoring front man being the difference between solidly upper half and rock bottom. 1
BotleySaint Posted 15 March, 2023 Posted 15 March, 2023 We are relying on a Brentford mistake to score. We are unable to create anything ourselves. Surely we have to try Adams and Onuachu on the pitch at the same time at some point? Unfortunately I expect on 60 mins Selles will bring in AA. 1
harvey Posted 15 March, 2023 Posted 15 March, 2023 This Southampton team are so tepid, void of inspiration of creativity and boring........much like Hypo. 1
IronCitySaint Posted 15 March, 2023 Posted 15 March, 2023 Can't see us scoring one goal, let alone 2+. Want to say that I can't believe the lack of urgency in the performance, but actually I can totally believe it. Been like this for years and nothing looks like changing. 1
saintant Posted 15 March, 2023 Posted 15 March, 2023 Moi stifles us every single time he plays. No surprise we are poor tonight. 4
Lee On Solent Saint Posted 15 March, 2023 Posted 15 March, 2023 We play like we are four nil up. No urgency. What's with the fuckin goal kicks? That's a disaster waiting to happen.

Dman Posted 15 March, 2023 Posted 15 March, 2023 We’ve done alright. We’ve controlled the ball and moved it well, but just have nothing in the final 3rd, as every week, which is why we’re going down. Credit to Brentford, it’s been a typical away performance. Defended deep (and well), pace and directness on the counter and nicked a goal from a set play. No surprise, but the going gets tough and you start to hear the idiots at St Mary’s grumbling and booing. Disgrace of a fan base.
CanadaSaint Posted 15 March, 2023 Posted 15 March, 2023 Wet pitch, get the ball forward quickly, angled passes through - or over - the defence, force defenders to turn. Hard to do when you start off with a 30-45 second "you to me, me to you" kickabout at the back and in midfield, and they've got all the time in the world to drop and cover. No midfield with Diallo and Elyanoussi in it will be getting the ball forward quickly. We have the subs to do it, but they should have started.
Saint NL Posted 15 March, 2023 Posted 15 March, 2023 Did that JWP cross/shot thing not count as a shot on target? It was going in iirc. 1
Mr X Posted 15 March, 2023 Posted 15 March, 2023 I honestly think one nil is enough for them, they won't need to bust a gut even now
bpsaint Posted 15 March, 2023 Posted 15 March, 2023 We’ve scored more than 1 goal in a league match just 4 times this season. Fucking 4. No wonder people think it’s game over when we go 1-0 down. 2

Roll on relegation where we cleanse a lot of them. Wankers. 1
SNSUN Posted 15 March, 2023 Posted 15 March, 2023 Test of Selles' managerial credentials if he can give the hairdryer treatment and stick a rocket up the players for the second half. I'm watching Huddersfield vs Norwich which is excruciating.
Holmes_and_Watson Posted 15 March, 2023 Posted 15 March, 2023 A little unfortunate to be undone, as the opposition are gifted enough to have a couple of training ground set piece routines and one of those striker chaps, that takes years, and years to find (apparently). Hard to imagine many teams withstanding that. 🙂 We've had a few better looking, direct passes from the likes of JWP, Alcaraz and Sulemana. But there's a lack of fluency on what to do with them when they happen. WIth more chopping and changing, there just isn;t the understanding. In recent games, we've invited pressure on us, for Adams to release a central runner. Not today, and one down, Brentford would be silly to allow that to happen. With our disjointes shape, we're looking for a set piece or a moment of skill from Adams, Alcaraz or Sulemana. Adams could do with closer support, as there's no one to feed of anything he gets (which hasn't been much). We do have a more direct option in Big Paul, so we may see him later on, if we can;t get back into it. 1

austsaint Posted 15 March, 2023 Posted 15 March, 2023 For fucks sake Reuben, get Elyounoussi off. He is of no help defensively or in attack and is making KWP’s role impossible. While you’re at it bring Lavia on… there’s no tomorrow, we have to get something here… he’s our best player. 1

Something needs to change in the second half or we are down. They've played through the lines a few times, if they can do that a bit more, Brentford are playing to type, and they look vulnerable and slow to that. They close in, have four or five players round the ball. Need some more forward passes, and players making runs, then that takes out half their team.

bangkoksaint Posted 15 March, 2023 Posted 15 March, 2023 Tells just grabbed his 15th of the season. I know that wouldn’t necessarily translate to goals in the Prem but we should have brought him back in January 1

Holmes_and_Watson Posted 15 March, 2023 Posted 15 March, 2023 Don;t often see half time adverts. But on the stream there's a legal help centre waiting to hear about any accident I've had that wasn't my fault. I'm a little wary that none of their agents seem to have never used a phone before, that they sit huddled together in a windowless, dark space, and mainly that they would be writing down my information on a notepad, rather than use any kind of computer system. I'm sure it will all be fine. 🙂 1
OttawaSaint Posted 15 March, 2023 Posted 15 March, 2023 Carbon copy of the Leeds game. Toothless powderpuff attacking and concede a soft goal.
