Players are not anywhere near good enough for the Premiership, many are not good enough for the Championship.

Are recruitment department is the worse performing department in a club failing in every department.

Yet that dept has had a free ride for 6-7 years…

It's not just finishing. We have no flair, no attacking movement, no pace, slow build up and we just don't create anything. There was no excitement or nervousness watching us tonight because after went one down we never looked like scoring in a million years.

Abysmal.

I'm not sure finishing was the problem at all. We created absolutely nothing - just like at Elland Road. Sulemena had that decent chance on his swinger, but other than that, what did we engineer? You are spot on. A lack of fair. movement, pace and above all quality is our undoing.

Why do you think that? Sure, we'll sell Adams, JWP, Lavia for decent money.

We've got Tella and Smallbone performing in the league below.

A drop down may help the likes of Ballard, Dibling etc to break into the team.

The biggest thing we have against us is that Sports Republic will still be calling the shots.

You think this team will be sorted by getting rid of those and replacing them with youngsters? Have you seen how terrible we were against lower league opposition this season?  We need an ethos change.

Fucking hell folks. We’re a win away from being 15th, we’ve definitely had the better of the second half and we’re absolutely an improvement on the shit we’ve been subjected to throughout the earlier part of the season. Brentford are a good side and the game played into their hands. Sneak one, sit deep, break. All isn’t lost. Some of you need to get a grip.

I'm not looking at it in terms of the points we are away from teams today, it's the games we've got left and who we've got to play.

Fair enough we might be a few points off of x today, but in a few weeks we won't be as we've pissed away all the games we should be winning.

Basically all of a sudden we need to win 5 or 6 from our last 11. That 11 includes Arsenal, Newcastle, Tottenham, Liverpool, Brighton. I'd say that's pretty much not going to happen.

We've now played a game more than most around us.

The same Brentford that Everton beat at the weekend.

Earlier in the season is a terrible yardstick to base our season on. We're still absolutely horrendous.

As I said months back while the clamour for a striker was going on, it’s genuine creativity we lack. We ain’t even getting the chances created to miss them.

'But it's still close, we've still got 11 games'

We've had 27 games and scored 20 goals. This team does not and will not score enough goals to keep us in this league. It's game over now, we won't have enough to beat Spurs or West Ham, and I would expect a 6-7 point gap to have opened by then. And still people will cling on thinking we might just win 4 on the bounce. Sorry, it's not happening. I feel for Selles as he's given it a go, but it's all too late now.

Got to look to the future for some hope.

We are going down. But next year, we've got some good prospects for returning.

I'm not so sure that we have.  We have a manager to the end of the season.  Any real quality, jwp, kwp, will go.  The championship is a very tough league, we will not be seeing premiere league football at St Marys for quite a lot of years again.

Can just imagine them watching back the game pausing it. Can you see crossing players, can you see the space at the top of the box there, where James is running into?

Can you see how Che is crowded out and the position of the keeper?

Now look at these crosses, passes, cutbacks...Can you see that noone made a run into this space, can you see how easy it is for the goalie to claim or those tall CBs to head away?

Roman? Is that a question?

RP: kick the ball it goes weeeeeeeeeee!

*raucous laughter*

Lads lads...focus...lads? Where are you going?

Correct. We barely laid a glove on Grimsby. Not sure why many think we'll do the business in the Champ. Forest went down for 26 years!

Not just youngsters. We are bound to sign up some new players too. If we get it right, why can't we do well? Just look at Burnley. Awful team last year. But going straight back up.

Horrid performance. Loads of puff, no real chances. This lot just don’t have it. They really don’t.

Ugh, and Brentford. Great season, horrid small time fans. Surprised it’s not a foam-hand competition this evening.

Embarrassing supporters. They were dancing to Free from Desire when the DJ was playing in before the match. Genuinely.

Exactly, Forest, Leeds,  Sunderland, Blackburn and many other very good clubs all of similar size to us have found it very difficult once they have gone down.   How many of our players are going to fancy the fight in the championship on a cold, wet, horrible night at Stoke?

We need to find away to play well against the small teams like Brentford. Too often this season it's been like this.

Brentford biggest set of cheaters I've ever seen by the way. Far worse than Fernandes et al on Sunday

The only cheats I saw were those in white and red. Been cheating us fans all season long

If we play to contain teams, to try and haphazardly catch them out with an attack through the middle, then we're not going to get too far in any season. As you say, if we get it right, there's no reason we can't. But that's going to mean an overhaul of our tactics. If the coaching staff can't drive the change, then they will have to be on their way too. Likewise, players who can't recover any kind of flair or drive can also join those that we will lose naturally anyway, as part of the drop down.

Game plan for Spurs.

Hope that Kane, Son et al have a bad day so we can get a glorious 0-0 to wank over all international break only to get fucking guided by WHU in a must win 6 pointer!

I bet you’re not far off with that.

If you can drop in some Emma Hayes style overcomplicating-things-to-sound-intelligent sound bites like ‘low block’ and ‘transitions of play’ then you could become our next hipster manager.

While we were scoring nothing again Nathan Tella was scoring another hat trick for Burnley. what does our management make of that?

Tella didn't look like scoring goals when he was here before and is scoring those goals in a league below against the likes of Hull.

Maybe he'd have done OK if we recalled him? Or maybe he's found his level.

We're not one win away from 15th, that's a moronic statement.

Hopefully you'll see a better Saints performance than our last outing on a Wednesday night 👍

We didnt mate ,didnt really enjoy it quite a lot of rolling it about prem standard . The fortunate thing was the bconcourse bar was nice and empty so got a good few pints in .

You really need to improve to have a chance, there wasnt too much abuse around  which i was suprised with as at the league 2 games play like that and they really take some

Like the left back thought he was a good solid one when we played you and steady again ,just uses his right leg to stand on .

I fear the New York Stadium awaits and not the one in America

Anyone have an idea on what the hell our 1st half goal kicks are about?

We were shyte, Brentford defended well and Frank is light years ahead of Selles.

Tall Paul is shit, Mo is Shit, Bree is shit and Diallo is shit, HT action is shit, sound is shit.

I hope we do not stick with Selles...we need a new start next season

Sorry but we lost that game at 6.30pm when that team sheet was announced. Absolute disaster of a lineup. Against a team like brentford who are well organised you need to play with pace and selles starts with diallo and elynoussi. Jesus wept.
selles was the constant during the latter stages of Ralph’s tenure and also with jones. I don’t think he’s the answer and quite clearly hasn’t a clue.
I also don’t get why at no point the wide players didn’t swap sides, just to try something different.
club is a shambles, our muck spreading transfer policy hasn’t helped.
quicker this season ends the better.

Why the f*ck change the side from the weekend. Putting Diallo and Moi in weakened the side considerably. Self inflicted shite. Mind you, wouldn’t have scored anyway so a point would have been the best possible outcome.

That was my reaction too.  Diallo wasn’t too bad but surely in such a crucial, winnable game Lavia should have started.  Predictably, Elyounoussi was not so much awful as anaemic, barely there… he just wasn’t involved in any facet of play which put an extra burden of responsibility on to KWP.  Seles got that wrong.  By the time he corrected his mistake, an hour of the game was gone; we were one down and Brentford sat deeper happy to defend their advantage in the wet conditions.

Hard to see a way back now.   Thought our best tonight were ABK, Perraud and Sulemana.

someone needs to explain the Orsic, Sulemana and Onuachu signings to me.

Rennes must have been pissing themselves laughing when we offered £20m for a player that was sat on their bench all season. £20m. Fuck me. Imagine someone offering us £20m for Djenepo. I'm guessing the criteria was something like: "We want someone like Djenepo, only faster. If possible a guy that doesn't tread on the ball quite so often, but don't worry about end product - who needs that when we have Edozie?"

And the criteria the scout was working to to bring Orsic in? "We want a winger with no pace or strength, doesn't dribble...basically try to find another Ely."

As for Onuachu, he was obviously exactly what Jones specified "big tall guy that is aggressive and plays on the front foot, whatever that means. No, me neither, it just sounds good. Quality? No, we create thousands of chances, so we just need a tap in merchant to take advantage. Nah, we can live without pace, skill and such. Just get me some fucking height."

I am convinced they just look at stats from leagues, watch a few YT compilations and/or fire up FM and load 100,000+ players and filter by value. That’s it.

That was absolutely abysmal. Typical of many, many displays at St Mary's in the last 5 years. Loads of possession and absolutely fuck all to show for it, barely a shot on target, just wanky wayward crosses and easily cleared shit cut backs.

Atmosphere was shit from kickoff. You wouldn't know we were in with a about of getting out of the bottom three with our fans complaining about sideways passes from minute one. Bellends.
