Southampton 1-2 Wolves - Match Thread

Might as well start preparing for next weekend's relegation 6 pointer.

Lots of questions before this match:

- Will Jones still be in charge?

- Another week in the reserves for Caleta-Car and Orsic?

- Diallo to start again?

- Saints to set up to invite pressure?

- The ongoing mental disintegration of Nathan Jones to continue in his pre match presentation.

At this juncture it's hard to speculate beyond a Wolves win as we never beat them no matter how well we play they seem to nick a goal. Despite that I'm still hoping against hope.

Although it feels its been the same every game for a while, surely if we are to have any kind of chance to stay up we simply have to get 3 points here.

Considering we have just spent £60m and will have some home debuts ordinarily the fans would be up for it, but obviously Jones totally changes that.

Big decisions for the club this week but if he is still in charge then somehow fans need to almost forget about him and get behind the team like the Everton fans did yesterday.

Expectation:
Bazunu
KWP, DCC, Salisu/ABK, Perraud
JWP, Lavia, Alcaraz
Sulemana, Onuachu, Orsic

Reality:
Bazunu
Bree, Bednarek, ABK, Lyanco, Salisu,
Diallo, AMN, JWP
A. Armstrong, Elyounoussi

Nathan Jones will still be in charge. DCC will be on Netflix. Bednarek will continue to walk into a crap team. Diallo and AMN will continue their weekly cameo of being shit. 5-3-2, because “wE sCoRe MoRe WiTh A bAcK tHrEe”.

3-0 defeat, optimistically.

Biggest question for me at this stage is “is there any f*cking point?”

Did you see Wolves yesterday? In what universe will Saints get something from this match?  Another 3-0 defeat.

What's the point? Really, what is the point?  We are down, gone, done, relegated without so much as a whimper.  This group of lightweights, under this fraud of a manager will simply roll over at the first sign of trouble.  It would be easier to send them the points in the post to save the fans the time, money and heartache.   Can you imagine the likes of Gabriel, Magrath, Baĺly, Case or Killer, (and many others who've fought for us) wtf would they be thinking watching this weekly shit show?  Unless something drastic happens, Wolves will win, easily.

Would be funny if we see saints on the front foot and sweep Wolves aside

I know, just as mental as mad-nate

Well he said that’s what his team do, now he’s not going to compromise it’s what we should see so if they don’t do it then why not.

Here's a chilling thought - what if we scrape a win? Would that change people's minds about keeping him in the job?

I don't think it can, anything which happens now is surely in spite of the manager given how he's thrown everyone under the bus. As much as I hate knee-jerk and fickle nonsense, I cannot see how his position can be tenable for any longer after his performance yesterday, both in game and after game.

He’ll have to do a lot more than one scraped win to win back this fan base. He showed in a couple cup games that possible, due to what I can only say is luck. The rest that he has shown that follows is dire football with no winning game plan and logical sense.

If I hadn't already bought train tickets I'd consider not going until we sack the idiot because we all know what the outcome will be.

If Jones is in charge, a heavy defeat

With Selles, a draw.

Its becoming more clear that Selles really isnt this super coach that some of our fans think he is.  Hopefully he'll be out on his arse soon enough too

In some ways this should really count as his first game in charge as its not been his team playing his way yet. Reset the ratio and get the new manager bounce

Maybe it’s all his fault? The Spanish Eric Black

our set pieces were shit when he was in charge of them,

couldn’t beat sheffield wednesday,

players who he is supposedly coaching looking less fit and unable to trap a football since he arrived (and before tbf, but The Athletic reported In pre season Selles took a hands on approach to training whilst ralph took more of a backseat role)

.. but the players like him and he speaks spanish so he survives.

I'm pretty sure that if he is still in post for the next game and we win that this is what will happen in the press conference.

"Since I decided to do things my way I have a 100% win record in the premiership. That's better than any manager has ever achieved before."

If he doesn't win then it just means it's time for another reset next week.

No he will say it takes time for the players to learn a new system and he's only just started with them. In a way you can't really count any of the games prior to February because that was when he was pandering to other people.

As long as he gets a fresh start and gets a chance to highlight his genius. What more could we ask for as fans?

His hubris has really put I’m in a corner. We should expect to see some clear changes on the pitch and improved performance. If we lose again how does he explain it then?

A real part of me is thinking ‘Ok, right, no more messing around go full Jones, let’s see what you got’. The rest of me says he has shown enough and needs to be replaced before this game.

We could all do with some entertainment and a heavy defeat at Wolves should produce a very interesting post match interview.

Wasn't it Bednarek he completely left on his arse last season in this fixture to break that dry spell he had infront of goal at the time? Bodes well!!
