Not wishing to speculate, but maybe he was part of the 'alleged' training ground bust up and even if he was probably justified to vent some frustration to the management back then, there is still an official disciplinary process he has to follow? (otherwise you'd get every player thinking they can run riot, even if justified)

One rumour was that the bust was over DCC, the way Jones was speaking to him, would explain why he was frozen out by Jones but not why Selles didn’t include him. Also interesting Bella-Kotchap straight back in yesterday.

DCC probably our best centre back this season so hopefully whatever the issue is can be resolved.

Didnt NJ suggest before the Wolves game there was an injury issue with DCC? Might have been bull as most of what he said was but might explain his absence ?

An on form DCC with ABK would be a formidable CB partnership in a 4-4-2 going into the final run of games.  Assume DCC carrying a knock rather than the big lip.

Suggestion is that Caleta-Car is not aggressive/adept in covering large spaces should Saints press high.  Also Orsic has not quite adapted yet and is struggling.

This is evidently much nearer the truth rather than any conspiracy theory. DCC doesn't quite suite the high press system and isn't quite good enough on the ball to compensate. I suggested this at the start of January and got ridiculed :DI feel he was bought in last minute as they hoped he could play a Vestegaard type role on the ball in a 3 but it's never quite clicked. Glimmers of hope when we retreated a little into a mid/lower block because he reads the game well but any manager tactically setting up to be a high pressing team will naturally look at the fact that for all their faults Bednarek, Salisu and ABK all statistically intercept much more than DCC because they are brave. I remember Ralph talking about younger defenders being easier to mould and get to go out their comfort zone than experienced ones and you can see that in our CB's. And Lyanco is just naturally a nutter.

As for Orsic, find the fascination to get him into the team a bit odd bearing in mind that every time he has played he's barely kicked the ball and that's not an exaggeration by the way. I'm well aware the argument is to give him more chances but he's been out of his depth physically, technically and mentally every time he's played. Newcastle and Blackpool games he's been so off the boil it wouldn't do him, the team or any manager under pressure to get results any good continuing to play him. Let him get up to speed in training, if he can.

Someone has fucked up then cos we bought him in the summer when we were a high pressing team.

Seeing as Jones was in part recruited because of supposed set piece stats, I wonder if we signed DCC because of his aerial ability, thinking it would help to resolve that problem too.

I think he had some of the best headers won % of any defenders in Europe last season.

Now though he does seem a strange, unsuited signing. Imagine he will be loaned out next season whatever league we are in.

Its a loan.. have we managed to get a €3m loan fee ?!

Good going if we've got that as a loan fee.

Also looks like Marseille are due €500k of the fee.

Perhaps OM need to steady their media team, although still not as premature or embarrassing as the effort from Miss Pace in Burnley though.

Fairly certain that isn't the OM official account, just a 'saintsextra' style updates account.

I wonder where that 5m € came from..if no obligations or anything, then I guess we hope he has an imperious season in France and can get rid next summer for a decent fee.

Fs - looks like this waster will be coming back next year then. I cn't see OL wanting him when they get  decent close up look of him.

It’s a strange one though as when he did play he looked alright. Was it Jones or Selles who suddenly dropped him and he never appeared again?

Id of been on time if the CoT hadn’t been discussing the terms of the performance bonuses first… ffs 🤦‍♂️

When there is so much to discuss keeping the proletariat informed is less of a priority

Had good feelings about this guy when we got him, thought he'd fill the experience void. I never felt he never got much of a chance, so it's hard to be massively judgemental on him either way.

In the few games he did play he wasn't great, granted, but it's hard to know if that's because he never had a chance to form any sort of relationship or run in the side. I think if we'd have used him right he'd have been decent for us, but sometimes they don't work out.

Never really given the run of games a CB needs to prove themselves one way or the other. Nevermind, best of luck.

By three different managers, which should tell you something. TBH honest, he just seems like a defensive version of Orsic; we thought he might be able to do a job for a relatively low fee but in the end nobody really had any confidence in him.

Personally, I thought he was too slow & not great on the ball. Certainly wouldn't have suited our style.

A kick and head type defender for me, but you're right, I think it was Jones who said he's trying to 'play too much football' rather than just worry about the basics.
