You don't need 40points to stay up this season FFS. The bottom 7 sides haven't managed to get more than 18 points with over half the games played. 18th is going to be down at around 34-35 points tops i reckon - certainly nowhere near 40!!! Or if it is 40, then all hell will have happened at the top of the table to be dropping those points to the bottom sides...

There will also be some weird results towards the end of the season when higher teams have nothing to play for. Plenty of points to be had, if we're good enough to take them

7 from me.

Not so much due to certainty of the quality we've brouht in, but for SR's statement of intent.

Would have been 8 if we'd signed a clinical striker near the start of the window to actually give us a chance of picking up more points from the run of "winnable" games.

Could've been 9 if we'd added a quality DM and Keeper.

And even an orgasmic Ten if SR had topped that off with accepting their major mistake and shooting firing Nathan Jones. Imagine what we could have done with the rest of the season if we'd brought in a manager fit for the purpose of properly organising and inspiring a Premier League team.

A good window but unlikely to keep us up

Now have a squad that has something like 25 who have played in the first team this season or have just been bought for the first team.

How many can you name that would be definite starters? He has to get a settled team, and quickly. I don't think he has the time or ability to do that to get us the points we need. It took Steve Cooper a while. Can't see Jones doing it but hope I'm wrong.

Definite starters;

Bazunu, kWP, DCC,Perraud, Lavia, Alcaraz, JWP, Edozie, Onuachu.

That leaves the CB and the winger.

Apologies if someone has already posted this.

This must be what it was like to support Jack Walker's Blackburn.

Funny how Chelsea continue to spunk money on not much. Boely seems to be some idiot that everyone is fleecing.

8/10 for me. Expected fuck all so pleasantly surprised.

If we’re gonna escape relegation, we need to stop conceding goals first and foremost.
ok,we needed a striker.
we properly need DCM, GK and a good quality central defender.
despite a lot of people slagging off Bree after being thrown in at the deep end, he doesn’t look too bad. At least he’s been part of a good defensive unit.
position that worries me the most….. goalkeeper, he doesn’t really save anything. Even McCarthy used to pull off some worldies!!! (Then get beaten at his near post 2 mins later)

Think Sulemana will be our top winger ability-wise but he may well be used as an impact sub to start with.
Probably going to be some rotation in the forward positions so I don’t think you can say Edozie will be a definite starter.

I have found the last two windows pretty bizzare and realise that now PL football is not for the fan but for the money man

We have brought it something like a dozen players got rid of Romeu and Forster have Livromento on a long term injury

We also sacked a manager who had kept us up with limited resources and replaced him with a manager with dubious credentials who only Mick McCarthy thinks is anygood

Plenty of the old guard have also gone out on loan and we are currently bottom of the PL do not play in red and white stripes so it hardly seems that the team is Southampton anymore

None of the new players have really proved to be consistent PL players except for Lavia who appears to have injury problems even the latest three who have actually played have question marks over their ability

With so many so called first team players in the squad I feel it may be difficult to form a focused team of players most of whom  I expect had never thought they would be playing here this time last year to start turning out quality performances to get us out of the bottom three

The fixtures that we have in the next two months are

Brentford Away
Wolverhampton Wanderers Home
Chelsea Away
Leeds United Away
Leicester City Home
Manchester United Away
Tottenham Hotspur Home and I would have thought we needed a minimum of ten points from these games to have much chance of not being relegated
