After all the decent signings we've made, how is Armstrong still getting in the team?!

I also have a horrible feeling that Janny B is a favourite of the manager along with Lyanco, and instead of two of DCC / ABK / Salisu, we'll be seeing Janny B with Lyanco with at least 2 of our best CBs on the bench.

That is a worry. This ‘manager’ seems to be trying to learn as he goes along. He talks of getting used to various formations when what is need in our situation is a team which is solid defensively and which plays in a formation with which they are accustomed and comfortable. This is no time to be trying out different players to see how good they are.

He threw that semi final in an attempt to try something different. It was an insult to those supporters that made a wonderful effort to get up there and cheer their team on.

yep, and Lyanco

So we want to play 'defend for your lives' style last ditch style defence rather than proper 'it doesnt need to be a panic' defence? 😬

Doesn't playing 1st teamers in the b-side 24 hours before a PL game also give our opponents an advantage by giving them early sight of our likely starting 11 and thus more preparation time. Seems a tad amateur to me...

My prediction for tomorrow is

Bree bednarek Salisu kwp

If we play 4 at the back or you can add Lyanco to that if we go 5. Either way it's ridiculous when you have DCC and Perraud fit and ready to go. The team should clearly be:

KWP DCC Salisu Perraud

Gearing up to be the rinse and repeat of start with a back 5, go 2 goals down, convert to 4 at the back and make a game of it but all too late.

An absolutely mind boggling decision. It genuinely makes absolutely no sense.

ABK I kinda get, he’s been out needs game time. Djenepo, meh. Orsic, I could also understand, he’s struggled to adapt to the PL / our system.

DCC, absolutely nothing positive at all can come from him playing today. He must be match fit or at least fit enough to play, he’s our best CB. He could easily get an injury here, for absolutely nothing.

We’ve just played with 3 CB’s and he was ‘rested’, why the fuck is he playing today?

Jones has started to lose his marbles. Not good.

It’s complete madness that he’s not tried this. Especially when everything else he’s tried has gone to shit.

That B team line up could probably beat the A team that will play tomorrow

Lyanco should be nowhere near the team but Jones is obsessed with "aggression" which is normally an attribute that lower league teams have when they are very limited and trying to compete against teams that are superior to them. It rarely ends well.

PL2 cup knockout game at least a competitive run out, Sheff Utd currently top of their u21 league so will give them a proper test (no idea how strong their side is)

So I assume that almost certainly confirms the continuation of Lyanco and Elyounoussi in our starting 11 for tomorrow.

At least they're 'great lads', although it doesn't quite make up for their shitness.

Feeling of groundhog day already, but let's see what happens.

I'm wondering if Jones and DCC have fallen out over Jones' recent "he needs to concentrate on being a defender not a footballer" comment..? #readingbetweenthelines

As bad as Baz is, he's not that bad.

They're the type of players that a lower league old school type of manager would love. Its one of the many reasons that Jones isn't going to work out here unless he changes.

It’s bizarre that a Croatian international that played in the World Cup semi final is deemed not good enough for us.

I know Orsic hasn’t got off to the best of starts but fuck me he has quality  and a few games for us (not in the B team) should show that.

I don’t actually think they would love Lyanco though. He cant defend. His so called ‘aggression’ is simply him getting too tight and flying into tackles which result in people skipping past him 9 time out of 10.

There’s half a player in there, under the right manager, but idiots like Jones, encouraging his brain dead defending, make him worse.

Pre-match press conference...

Jones: "Now we're back to one game a week we'll play our strongest 11 each game..."

Work permit situation for the two new players still being sorted.... wouldn't confirm if they can play tomorrow or not

Oh I do. The lower leagues are full of passionate types without much ability who compensate for it by kicking players up in the air, shouting at their teammates and thumping their chests. Those are clearly attributes that Jones values in his quest to give us aggression.

Very interesting. Tomorrow will supposedly be our strongest defence then.

Journo: "Does players starting today for the u23s rule them out starting tomorrow?"

Jones: "Not necessarily"

Who the f*ck plays a player and then 24 hours later starts them in a prem game? That's clearly bollocks.

I'm done. That's a complete and utter lie. The bloke is deluded. We absolutely lost because we started with a back five.

Really, really worrying / concerning statement.

Also incredibly wrong and blaming they players rather than himself.

Yes - once we go to a back 4 normally.

Bloke is an absolute clown and has to go.

And after we have conceded a couple.

I hope the fans properly turn on him this weekend if he goes with Lyanco and Bednarek at the back.

He's literally taking the piss out of every fan that pays money to go to our games.

He said he's going to play our "strongest team" so have some faith FFS! ;)

In more positive news, he also mentioned that Stuart Armstrong wasn't far away from being involved again
